Not just these days, corsets have been around since the 1600s (perhaps 1500s, I'm not quite sure).
They fell out of popularity with the feminist movement, which I can understand, as it can be painful and, as mentioned below, potentially dangerous.

Vanessa, do you know what corsets do, love? People use them for waist training to make their waits smaller these days. It's become a very beautiful form of body modification. Do a little reading on it, it's very interesting.
Lovely shot, I've always liked corsets...want to do some waist training myself but I'm waiting till after I have children so I can carry them without difficulty (extreme training pushes the organs down a bit). The colours are really stark and contrasting. Great job. =) - Report As Spam
