It was raining. A lone figure sat in an overstuffed arm chair, gazing out the big bay windows at the weeping sky. She was wearing nothing but a fluffy maroon bathrobe; her skin was still steaming ever so slightly from the shower she emerged from moments before.
She had watched with carefully blank eyes as the blood ran away from her body in little crimson rivulets. It disappeared down the drain, out of sight but never far away from her mind.
Now she sat with a mug of hot chocolate cradled carefully in deceptively slender hands. She felt rather then heard someone pad up behind her and she turned her head to smile at the man leaning down to look at her.
“Are you okay?” He asked, concern lacing his voice.
“No,” She responded, her voice quiet. “I need a little time to myself.”
“Promise me you’ll be okay?”
“I promise.” She tilted her head up and brushed her lips against his, savoring the warmth that flowed into her from the intimate touch. Reluctantly they parted and, giving her a small smile, he left the room.
With a sigh she turn to gaze out the window once more, this time with a melancholy smile on her face.
