Months have gone by since we’ve met, I’ve rescued her and she rescued the little boy. School came by and went, as I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I would think of those times where we can go to the same school and live in the same neighborhood so that we can hang out together. I found out the day after I rescued her that she goes to a different school and she’s somewhere on the other side of the city. It makes me sad cause I really want to see her again. I was right from the start, she is the one who would keep the key to my heart.
The cold season flew by as it snowed in my hometown and covered the whole entire street. As I started walking to my school, which is about 10 minutes away, I watched some of the men shoveling the snow out of the way and one huge pile nearly hit a couple that was walking up behind me. I sort of smiled and nearly laughed at them cause they weren’t watching where they’re going, but inside I felt sad because of the way the boy is wrapping his arms around her, protecting her from the snow. It reminded me of the time where I saved her life. I sighed as I slouch over. There was no reason for me to make fun of them, cause I’ve been through worse.
As I reached my school, the first thing I saw was a giant poster blocking the front door…seriously, it’s blocking the double doors and no one dared to shred it just to get inside. When I was able to get close enough to the giant sign, I see the giant words in gold “Christmas Ball Dance!!” with the words underneath in glittery red “Every single school is invited this Saturday starting from 6-Midnight! Bring a date or be in a group! That’s up to you! Dress formally!” and at the very bottom in glittery green is the information with the number to call for reservation, where it’s located, and stuff like that.
I stood there and think. If every school is invited, that means she’ll be there. I smiled, grabbing a pen and my notebook from my backpack and wrote down every single information I need for this Saturday. After I was done, I put it away and was about to go through the side building until I saw another sign, that’s paper sized, and it says that they’re closed on snow days til after Christmas is over. I grinned, turned around, and ran off to tell my parents about the dance.
Before I even get to reach to my house, someone called out for me and I know who it is. I turned and greeted my best friend who asked me where I was going. I told him that I was going to get money from my parents to rent a tuxedo and for the dance this Saturday. He smiled and told met that he’s doing the same thing with some of our friends and was wondering if I can tag along. I honestly have no choice since I don’t know where she could be and I have no one else to go with…plus he mentions that it’s cheaper if we go in a group, so I agreed to go.
For the rest of the day, I pretty much did what I planned out. I told my parents, asked for money, rented a tuxedo, my friends and I rented a limousine, and I’m pretty much all set for this Saturday. The only thing that’s on my mind is if she’s going to be there, I haven’t seen her in months and I’m wondering if her school got the same ad as mine did. It worries me so much that I couldn’t be able to sleep that well for the next two days.
Saturday finally arrived and it was almost five in the afternoon. I ran back into my house and head towards my room. I was about to go into my room, but my father appeared and told me, “You’re home late.”
I sighed, stopping in front of my room and explained, “I know, there was a bit of snow blocking my way so I had to run through.”
And it was true cause from the waist down I’m wet and a bit covered with snow. I can tell that my dad shrugged at me as he said, “Okay, then. Get ready cause your friend called me and he told me that they’re coming in ten minutes.”
Ten minutes will give me plenty of time, no problem. “Okay, dad!”
So, I ran into my room and got dressed. Fixing my hair and putting on a bit of cologne (the good ones, not the crappy ones) and finally stood there in front of my mirror. Taking deep breaths, I wished for her to be there. I would imagine what kind of dress she should wear…but then my head started to hurt from thinking too much. So I should stop for a bit.
That didn’t stop me from when the doorbell rang and I ran out of my room and head straight towards the door. I shouted to my parents that I was leaving and I can hear one of my sisters making fun of me. I just ignored them and head outside in the cold and straight into the limousine without saying hi to my friend who was waiting outside for me. I took a seat anywhere and rubbed my arms to keep myself warm as I said hi to my other friends. My best friend jumped inside and said, “That was fast.”
I rolled my eyes up and said, “It’s the damn cold, leave me alone.”
I felt the car drive off as I looked outside the window and watched every building and snow pass by. I ignored everyone talking about some random stuff…I don’t know, until I felt something warm press against my arm. I looked over and saw one of my best friends friend (a random blonde chick…I don’t know who she is) leaning against me and smiled. “Hey.”
I just smiled and looked away. I can feel her hand on my chin, trying to make me look at her. I swatted her hand away and said, “Cut it out.”
The blonde chick pouted at me and said, “Come on, I just want a good look at you.”
That’s where I pushed her away and said, “Leave me alone.”
I can hear her growl and move away, telling the other girls something. I growled myself as I can feel a hand on my shoulder and I nearly punched my best friend. “You okay?”
I nodded and looked away. “I’m not interested in looking for someone.”
“Cause you found one, but never told her.”
I can hear the girl’s gasp as I smiled at him and said, “Yeah, that’s why.” After I mouthed a “thank you” to him, he grinned back and turned around to talk to his other friend.
We finally arrived to the dance after a good ten minutes of awkward silences and the door opened to let the freezing cold air in. We all ran out of the car and head straight into the building. I couldn’t tell what it was, but I think that we’re somewhere in the downtown area and we’re in a country club or something. Whatever this place is, it’s really big. Ugh, as if I’m going to find her in time. I watched as my best friend, some of my friends, and some of the annoying girls walked off toward the dance floor. I didn’t feel like going so I went straight towards the food table. I helped myself with some food and the soda (straight from the can) and sat down at a table near a corner. I watched people dance, couples holding hand in hand, and the music blaring out some random dance music. I sighed as I sat there and watched them dance.
Minutes went by, which felt like hours, and nothing good happened yet. My best friend did come by ad check up on me once in a while, but then got dragged away to dance with the other girls. I sighed, looking around to see more people coming in. I blinked to wonder why they were late…or probably they’re the ones that were on the other side of the city. Eh, it would make perfect sense.
I turned back around since I didn’t see her walk in. I groaned and leaned against the table. Cause I gave up, she’s not coming. I lowered my head and rest it on my arms. I felt stupid just coming here, I just felt desperate to find her again and, guess what, she isn’t here. I guess she didn’t get the ad at her school or she’s sick. Either way, I felt stupid in this tux and I also felt stupid for coming here. And I decided to head home, with or without the others.
That was until I felt a tap on my shoulder and a voice spoke up, “Excuse me…” and then she said my name.
My head flew up, I recognize that voice and I recognize the way she said my name. I spun around and I completely froze. I stared at the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen in this dance and the way she dressed is quite elegant. A black dress with white ribbons that went all the way down to cover her feet, the front of her hair is straight while the back is curled (and I can also tell that she cut the back of her hair shorter), and the jewelry made herself look brighter than any other girl. Either way, she’s beautiful. Just the way I would imagine if my head didn’t start hurting.
I stood up, looking at her face as she smiled back and asked, “Missed me?”
I finally moved, holding her by the arms and pulling her into a hug. I held her as tight as I could and whispered in her ear, “You look beautiful.”
I heard her giggle as she hugged me back and said, “Thanks and I’ll take that as a yes.”
When we finally pulled away, we can hear the next song coming up and I stared at the dance floor, and then back at her. I cleared my throat as I held my hand out and bowed asking, “Would you care for a dance with me?”
She giggled as I felt her hand on top of mine and said, “You don’t have to be that formal, but okay.”
I grinned as I stood up straight and pulled her towards the dance floor. The song was so very familiar and perfect.
'Last night I had a dream about you'
I held her by the hands as she held mine…
'In this dream I'm dancing right beside you'
We both started swaying back and forth…
'And it looked like everyone was having fun'
After hearing that line, I realized that everyone is having fun. Including her…
'The kind of feeling I've waited so long'
And it’s true, so very true…
'Don't stop come a little closer'
I pulled her close to me…
'As we jam the rhythm gets stronger'
I feel the beat getting stronger as the crowd surrounds us…
'There's nothing wrong with just a little little fun'
I heard her giggle as she placed her hand on my shoulders…
'We were dancing all night long'
Cause I can tell that this dance will last forever…
'The time is right to put my arms around you'
I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her closer…
'You're feeling right'
She giggled again…
'You wrap your arms around too'
As she wrapped her arms around my neck…
'But suddenly I feel the shining sun'
We both kept swaying back and forth in the middle of the dance floor…
'Before I knew it this dream was all gone'
After hearing that line, I suddenly frowned…
'Ooh I don't know what to do'
She saw me frown and asked, “What’s wrong?”
'About this dream and you'
I looked down, trying to find the right words to explain…
'I wish this dream comes true'
But I think the song is explaining the words I was looking for…
'Ooh I don't know what to do'
She blinked as she pulls me closer and she rests her head against my shoulder…
'About this dream and you'
Then she whispered to my ear, “Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere anymore.”
'We'll make this dream come true'
I blinked in surprise as I look down at her and asked, “Really? Why?”
She pulled away, still held my shoulders, and smiled. “Cause I’m going to be transferred to your school next semester so that we can be together again.”
I smiled back and my whole body became stunned as I pushed myself to hold my hand up to touch her by the cheek. We both stared at each other in the eyes again, but this time with more emotion…more love than we shared the first time we met. My body moved on it’s own as I moved closer, I see her moving closer too with her eyes closed. I shut my eyes, too, waiting as I leaned over more and more…until I felt her soft lips against mine.
Everything was going great, until someone bumped into me and broke our kiss. I looked back and glared at a random student that didn’t pay attention to where he’s going. I felt a hand on my cheek and she pulled me towards her. She gave me another peck on the lips and said, “You’re a great kisser.”
I grinned back and said, “Look who’s talking.”
She giggled again and blushed. Aww and she looked so cute when she blushes. She gave me a peck on the cheek and the beat to the song started to slow down a bit. We held each other as she sang the first line:
'Why don't you play the game?'
I smiled as I sang back to the next line:
'Why don't you play the game?'
We both laughed as we held each other and danced until the song was over. Tonight’s the best night of my life and I couldn’t ask for more.
