“Run!” a woman in brilliant shining mithril mail shouted.
“Joan, it is no use, there is no way we cannot out run them, and we must stand and fight, for Germany!!” A man in thick metal armor replied.
“We must, at least, make it to the bridge, so we can fight less at one time.” Joan said. “Fallback, to the bridge!” Joan yelled.
The troops fled to the bridge, all thirteen troops made it. “So, Gustav, what do you propose we do now?” Joan asked.
“Form a line, swordsmen in front, then mages and archer in the back!” Gustav ordered.
“To arms!” This shout was not from Joan, Gustav, or any of their troops. On top of a hill to the west was a man in robes. Suddenly there was a flash of light, and a second later it was gone. The man was now in shining metal armor. Flames burst from the ground and formed a fire tornado, and put five Orcs into a roar of fire. A few second later they dropped to the ground. He whipped out his staff, and the battle began.
“Fire!” Joan yelled. Three arrows soared above Joan’s head, but only two hit their target. The two that hit weakened the Orcs, but didn’t kill them. “Flame Furry!” Joan yelled, and five flames burst from the ground and weakened the Orc’s whole front line. All five mages hit their targets.
The frontline drew their swords. “Fire at will!” Joan shouted. The melee had begun. Swords clashed against the Orc’s axes. Arrows were flying everywhere and fire kept coming and going.
The mystery man helped throughout the battle, healing our units, along with hurting our enemies. Obviously he was against the Orcs. He had many new spells that we had never seen or read about. He had to be a spell caster type, for he was in robes again. Some troops would not have survived if it weren’t for him. They were victorious with only a few wounded.
“There are a total of fifty-six Orc knights and three Orc generals.” Gustav said.
“A fine battle, Frau.” Said the mystery man, who came down from on top of the hill, while their troops sheathed their weapons, and attended to others’ wounds.
“Who are you? How did you know to find us, and our troops? How did-,” Joan asked.
“One question at a time Frau,” he interrupted, “I am Franz.” Answered Franz.
“How did you find us?” Joan asked.
“I was called from my church, to send a message to the Northwest. I am from the Easter Church of Germany, sending a message to the church of the Northwest about the up rise of the Orcs.” Said Franz.
“We are going that way, why don’t you join us?” Joan asked.
“Sure. We can travel more safely with more people.” Franz answered.
“So, Frau, what is your name?” Franz asked.
“I am Joan.” Joan replied.
“So, Joan what is your story? Why are you headed to the Northwest?” Franz asked a few hours later.
“Well.” Joan started to explain. “It all started when I was an orphan. I was abandonded by my parents when I was young. I had no where to go, so the town Militia took care of me, and trained me. They trained me in the arts of swordsmanship, and when I was older, magic. They mainly taught me fire and healing magic. A few days ago my friend and I went to visit a church to pray. When we got there the church was on fire! Orcs were around the church. A man came in great armor, and a sword. He fought off most of the Orcs, but soon enough they killed him. Suddenly there was a voice in my head ‘Take the armlet.’ So I did. Suddenly Orcs were around us! We ran to the town, Siensville. When we got there the Orcs had set it on fire too! We ran to the Military base, to grab all the weapons and men we could. The Orcs killed everyone, except for us. We grabbed weapons and armor, to defend ourselves. We then fled the town. We went from town to town, to tell people about the Orcs, but no one listened, except for these troops we have now. We will attack the Orcs, and fight back. We are going to their base, to stop these raids. We were attacked by an Orc raid, and now we are here.” Joan said.
“May I see your armlet, Joan?” Franz asked.
“Sure, it hasn’t been any use to me. When I got near the man there was a flash of light. Then suddenly the armlet was on my arm.” Joan said.
Franz walked up and looked at Joan’s armlet and said “Just as I thought. You are on of the five. There are five armlets in the world, and they will always guide themselves to their next wielder, and that was you.”
“So what use is the armlet to me?” Joan asked.
“You will learn that soon enough Joan.” Franz replied.
They walked into a town, and rested for the night. They warned everyone about the Orcs but again no one believes them.
“Would you like my help to defeat the Orcs Joan?” Franz Asked.
“I would love to have our help Franz.” Joan replied.
“Okay, I will meet you in the upcoming city Joan. Franz said.
“Wait-“ Joan started to ask, but in a poof of blue and purple light he was gone.
When they got to the next cit soldiers were in arms. By Franz was an odd looking person, fur on her, and she had a tail! “Get the evil witch!” She shouted.
The soldiers started at them. “I am sorry Joan.” Said Franz. He seemed to be friends with the woman that was cat-like.
“Franz! Why have you done this!?” Joan shouted.
“Defend yourself well Joan!” Shouted Franz. A blast of air came out of his staff, knocking down most of Joan’s men.
“On your feet!” Shouted Gustav, the only one standing, “Strike back!”
They all stood up and went into formation. As they went into formation the cat-woman and her troops approached them.
“Now!” She shouted. Orcs start to surround them from behind.
“Archers! Mages! Get the Orcs! We will handle the men!” Joan shouted.
Charge!” Shouted the cat-woman. The Orcs and men charged at them.
“The time has come….Strike now!” Joan shouted. There was a bright flash of light from Joan, and not Franz. The battle stopped for a few seconds, temporarily blinded. Joan had no clue what happened, she felt stronger and faster, even in the heavier armor.
Joan charged at the cat-woman and Franz, striking down any enemy who got in her way. She struck Franz down in a single hit, seemingly too easy. Joan now went after the cat-woman. Joan swung at the cat-woman, but missed. The cat-woman clawed in response, then jumped back. The claws only bounced off Joan’s armor.
“So witch we finally fight.” Said the cat-woman.
“What is your name?” Joan asked, staying on guard for any danger.
“That does not matter to you!” The cat-woman hissed.
“Well then, whom do you serve?” Joan asked.
“I serve the demon Leviathan.” The cat-woman replied. “Enough of this talking, I am itching for a fight.” The cat-woman said.
Soon after the cat-women’s death Joan and her men are on the move. She easily beat the cat-woman, and some of her men. Joan and her men are at the point of retreat, they could not handle all the men the cat-woman had. On the way out Franz shouts: “Joan! I have taught you how to use the armlet, I have done my part, now do yours!”
Joan paused for a few seconds in awe, and then continued to run. Soon enough the city was behind them, and almost gone.
Joan and her men had no troubles getting to the next city, and now they are on their way to the Orc’s layer. Near the Orc’s layer they stop for the night, and talk about their tactics.
“We will attack during the day; the Orcs are weakened by light.” Joan said. “The mages and archers will go in, fire a few rounds, and then run out. We will be waiting outside, so when you come out we will keep them out. In about an hour we will do this, so prepare.”
Everyone prepared for battle. No one talked, because they were all nervous.
When it came time to attack the archers and mages went in cautiously, peeking around every corner of the cave. They kept creeping in, slowly, always checking the next corner.
Soon they came to a faint scent of blood, and rotting flesh. It became stronger, and stronger. Only one mage was holding a light source, a lantern. They started to creep slower, for they knew the Orcs were near. When they saw a dim light coming from around the corner they put out their lantern. It was quite, did they hear them coming and prepared to attack? Did they see their bright light?
They slowly crept to the entrance of where the light was. They all took a deep breath, and jumped in, ready to fire, heal and run, but nothing was there. There were only the rotting remains of many Orcs. They went back to tell Joan this, and now they all went in.
This time when they got there a man was standing there. He charged at Joan with his sword, Joan put her sword up in defense, and he ran right into it, killing him.
“What was that!?” Joan yelled.
“I don’t know Joan.” The top mage replied.
Suddenly the man was being engulfed with a black shadow, and a demon came out of him! “Bow down before me, Leviathan, or suffer my wrath!” Said the demon.
“Kill that demon!” Shouted Joan.
Every time the demon went to hit, he missed for he was too big. Whenever Joan’s troops hit it did nothing because of his thick scaly skin. Suddenly Joan was hit by the demon, and knocked to the wall. She was knocked out, for about ten seconds. During that ten seconds Franz walked up to her, and “Remember what I have taught you.” Then she was conscious.
“Time to end this fight, for justice!” Joan yelled, and there was a bright flash of light, blinding the demon. Her armor and weapon had changed again. When she hit the demon with her sword the demon started to shrivel away.
“Nooooo! I cannot be defeated” Said the demon, who was now a pile of dust.
“He must have been the one who killed these Orcs, for his lust of power.” Joan said.
All the troops turned to the dead body of the man who was possessed, his wounds were gone and he still was unconscious. No one could recognize who it was, so they went to the closest city, gave the innkeeper some money to take care of him. Now the heroes sat there, wondering what to do next. The Orcs should stop their raids now that one of their three bases was gone. They went to the town guard and asked about the demon, Leviathan, but no one knew anything. They told them to go to Reinsford, one of the major towns in Germany; most of the guards there know all the demons.
They all went to Reinsford, learned about all the demons, and was asked to join their elite forces, to eliminate all the demons, but Joan rejected the offer. She decided to go off with all of her troops to make Germany a better place.
