PREFACE
The end-bell for fourth period rang loud and shrill signaling that it was time for lunch. It had this tone to it that always got into my head and gave me a mini migraine no matter how many times I heard it. But, for some reason, this time I felt something in me snap, something small but noticeable. I ignored it and packed up my things to go to the dreadful cafeteria where, did I mention, had no friends. That’s right, no friends. Even if I had lived in this town for most of my pathetic life, no one ever came up to me and said “Hi, Hazel.” But I knew they knew me and that was probably the part that hurt me the most inside. And yes, the pathetic girl does have a heart. Everyone does no matter how devious or lonely or even popular they might seem.
