Prologue: A World in Discord
Dear Reader,
To start out this history of Aadsenfeloth I believe it would be necessary to explain at least the existence of the Empire of the Red Hand. So this volume shall be a recording of ancient histories regarding the rise of the Empire. Thank you and I hope you will find my history of Aadsenfeloth and the Empire to be enlightening. -Kyrus of Yesheun, Historian and Recorder for His Majesty, the Duke of Aadsenfeloth, Quesen V.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the time before the first millennium and the birth of the Empire of the Red Hand history was, for the most part, unrecorded. The few ancient scrolls and tablets we do possess from this time period are written with such barbaric grammar and language that we cannot understand most of the text. However, from those nearly indecipherable documents, we can glean some fact. Before the Empire, utter chaos and discord ran rampant throughout our world. Barbarian tribes of Narcians hunted and farmed on the western edges of what is now the District of Kail. Clans of mysterious Plyecians carved out caves in the earth to escape from their innumerable enemies. Members of all the races warred amongst themselves, against other races, and agreed with no one. Justice was non-existent and the few laws that were formed were generally flouted outside the tribal structure. It was a dark time in which to live. Life expectancies were low for all races. Disease, war, and bitter feuding ruled the world.
Centuries of anarchy and bloodshed made the wise realize the world needed change. A large clan of Musmercian mages, scholars, and religious leaders united to find a way of bringing peace to the world. They spent many years gaining the trust and support of the hordes of nomadic Musmercian warriors. Soon they had amassed the first true army the sun had ever looked upon. They quickly invaded and conquered the territories surrounding their own. Within a few months they were in control of the largest amount of land ever to be owned by a single faction.
After the Musmercians had gained support from the citizens of their stolen lands they stopped their expansion in order to form a government. They began writing legislation for their empire. Laws were instituted on a large scale for the first time. Under their new government the imperials and their conquered neighbors began to prosper. The new empire's neighboring factions soon joined their cause as allies. It seemed that every day the infant empire grew in strength and size.
The chaos that had reigned for so long was finally beginning to dissipate. A shining ray of hope pierced the dark clouds that were poverty, desolation, and death. An empire was born from the ashes and order was slowly coming to the world.
1. The First Council of the Red Hand
The empire that had formed from the entropy of the ancient world was only a shadow of the Empire that was to come. For twenty years peace was cultivated. That peace, however, was far smaller than the fathers of the empire had dreamed it to be. They began to aggressively annex lands to their growing collection. The founding Musmercian rulers soon realized their seedling nation had burst it's shell and begun to blossom. They knew that their budding federation was becoming much too large for a centralized government. They needed to form a committee of nobles who could work together to control their loosely organized territories.
The first Council of Office was formed. This committee of wealthy, wise men was given titles and control of parts of the empire. The empire was split into two provinces, the Musmercian District and the Kail District. These two districts were each split further into two states. The four seat members of the Council of Office were each entrusted with the control of one of the four states of the Empire. These rulers were given the title of Governor. The Districts were each watched over by a Duke. Then came the dilemma. Who was to rule the empire, who was to have control over the entire thing?
Squabbling broke out in the small Council. Vicious arguments threatened the unity of the sapling empire. After the assassination of Oleph Veedrin (the governor of the state of Rawdas in the District of Musmercia) the disputes died down and Vayko Prast was granted control of the empire.
The crowning of Vayko as the first emperor came with swift reform. The Council seemed to think that since their collection of lands now had an emperor it was an official empire and deserved a good name and a senate. They spent months wondering what name to give their empire, they needed a glorious name that would be the symbol of order, nobility, and civilization. Eventually they agreed on: the Empire of the Red Hand (in reference to the Musmercian God, Raytos, who was always depicted with red hands). It is during this time period that scholars notice the ancient documents begin to refer to the empire with a capital "E", as it is in modern times. This epoch is also noted as the beginning of recorded history in the world. A new writing form that was much more civilized and much easier to read was formulated (this is the writing form still in use today). Imperial affairs began to be recorded in their entirety and the fog shrouding the events of history was lifted.
After a name for their Empire was chosen, the Council began to form a Senate. They selected delegates from each of the regions that made up the states of the Imperial lands. These senators were referred to as the Fingers of the Red Hand. The Senate began to meet monthly (unless a Meeting of Necessity was called) to discuss the affairs of the Empire. While the Senate had the power to write laws, the emperor was ultimately the final authority in the governing of the territories and people of the Red Hand. If a law given from the Senate was vetoed by the emperor it was virtually impossible to change this. A vetoed law required a unanimous vote of the Senate and the Council of Office in its favor to override the Emperor's ruling. This was an obviously difficult thing to accomplish (It is only recorded to have happened four times in the 2.5 Millennia this legislation was in affect.) as it was a great dishonor to vote against the glorious emperor. Also, the members of the Council of Office were hand-picked by the emperor, so it was highly unlikely that they (his friends and family members) would vote against him, even if the "Fingers" of the Senate voted unanimously (very unlikely, as the members of the Senate were so diversified in their backgrounds and values).
During all this time, the Empire had continued to grow. It was by then hardly recognizable as the infantile federation it was only a year prior to that point. Imperial expansion in that period resulted in the annexation of the District of Narcia (minus Aadsenfeloth of course). Also, the districts themselves had grown and each now had 3 to 4 states (depending on district size). The Senate, the Council of Office, and the cost of maintaining the fresh Empire soared. Taxes were used for the first time, and to great effect. The Empire prospered for approximately 1,100 years under the Prast Dynasty.
The Empire was created and harmony was settling in. According to the new calendars that had been created at the beginning of the Prast Dynasty, the Empire of the Red Hand had already lasted 1,120 years. The year counting system was simple, simply the year (ex. 120) followed by a subscripted number (representing the current amount of millennia that had passed since the Empire's birth) and the letter "M" (ex. 1M).
Peace and happiness filled the Empire. All of the citizens (even the conquered peoples) loved the Empire and the wealth it brought them. Times were easy and no significant battle had been waged since the first 400 years of the Prast Dynasty. The Empire of the Red Hand was a success, but dark times were mounting in the future. The Silver Millennium (as the first dynasty of Red Hand emperors was named) couldn't last forever.
2. Pestilence and Royalty
With the reign of the last Prast emperor, Eposus IV, there came a great plague upon the Empire. Hundreds of thousands of Red Hand citizens suffered terrible deaths. Included in those numbers was what was left of the Imperial family. Emperor Eposus died in the fifth year of his reign, leaving no legacy behind, so his throne was left empty. Near anarchy began to strain the Empire. After weeks of deliberation the remaining members of the Senate and Council of Office decided the wisest decision was to hand the throne over to Eposus's young step-brother, Icharos Varas.
Icharos was a tragic case. He had been foreshadowed by his step-father's son all his life. Eposus was to be the future king, and he, Icharos, was nothing but a footnote in the great Prast Dynasty. Icharos was already sickly and anemic when he took the throne and the shock of his sudden position worsened his condition. The people rioted constantly, demanding the emperor help them with their torment. While he personally could do nothing he ordered all of the royal doctors and magicians to focus their efforts on finding a cure for the plague that had already murdered hundreds of his people. Many historians believe Icharos would have been a great king if he hadn't existed during such a troubled time.
Now because of Icharos' near constant illness, he spent much of his time in his bed. So it was his servant boy, Urel, that was at his side for most of his life. For the first time an emperor befriended his servant. Urel and Icharos soon grew as close as brothers. It wasn't long before Icharos had a task for his trusted friend. He needed a wife who was not afflicted by the plague, a wife to supply him with a child before he passed away. So his servant spent the next weeks searching the countryside of the state of Prast; he searched there because the plague seemed to strike much less in areas with less population density. A month later, Icharos' new wife had fallen in love with his kind nature and compassion for the common people. Almost a year later, the son of the emperor was born, and with him, the Varas Dynasty.
The plague had hit in 1151M and it wrecked havoc for a century and a quarter. By that time the Imperial family had been forced to move into the countryside to escape death and nearly two thirds of the Empire's population had died. The quest to find a cure that had begun under Icharos I finally ended in 2391M when the mage and Duke of Musmercia District, Poligius Wanus, finally discovered a serum that would reverse the effects of the plague. Within a year all of the remaining citizens of the Empire had been treated and the plague was purged.
The joy brought by the destruction of the plague was short-lived. The Empire had lost most of its people to the epidemic and the army was in disarray. Approximately three quarters of the Grand Imperial Army had been demolished by the pestilence. This was because the soldiers lived in tight quarters, and the plague spread quickly throughout the barracks to devastating effect. This left the Empire weak and susceptible to attacks from it's bordering nations. Sure enough war broke out midway through the year 2401M.
Barbaric hordes of Yetocians, aided by the shunned Plyecians, invaded the Empire. At first the unorganized guerrilla strikes of the enemies were ineffective, so the tribes that had banded together to attack regrouped and planned an all-out, full-scale assault on the border city of Poterus. Poterus lay on the edge of the Kail District, and was protected only by low walls and a few guards. An attack on this city was completely unexpected and because of this the Yetocians, armed with Plyecian weapons, were able to invade the state of Usev.
While the Yetocians attacked from the northeast, a small horde of Narcians rallied and attacked the slopes of the Narcian district. These two enemies showed no mercy and killed all in their path, including civilians. They hated the Empire, and they voiced this opinion strongly. The Imperial government tried feverishly to stop the pressing armies. They recruited thousands of new troops and sent them to the borders of the Empire to stop the invasions in their tracks. Unfortunately the cunning of the barbarian hordes was underestimated by the Imperial generals. The two invading factions allied themselves and they began carving into the middle of the Empire, they were to meet, and join forces. When the Empire realized what the two armies were doing they sent a large force of 2,000 to the west to stop the Narcians, who had weaker numbers then the Yetocians, from getting any further. However, the move was too slow, and when the Imperial soldiers reached they rendezvous point they were stunned to find a fully joined enemy army. Bloodshed ensued and only one Imperial soldier was left from the carnage. He was sent back to the emperor by the Yetocian general with this chilling message, "We're waiting."
The emperor ordered a muster of all troops to face the Yeto-Narcian Army. Every available soldier was summoned to the heart of the Empire. They were to stop the enemy from advancing any further into their homeland. The army was ready in a week and was immediately dispatched to the mountain pass in which the enemy hordes were resting and waiting. The ranks of the invading army were numbered 5,000, while the full Imperial army numbered 7,500.
Needless to say the sorely trained barbaric invaders were no match for the well-equipped Imperial soldiers. The Imperial general who led the attack, Yedan Uthern, choreographed a perfect battle in the small mountain pass. Archers on the slopes of the adjacent mountains caused chaos in the unorganized ranks. Then when the barbarians were still slightly preoccupied, Yedan called a full cavalry charge. A Red Hand infantry man at the battle described the charge thus:
"Our cavalry, armor glinting, noble axes raised beneath the glorious banners of our Empire, charged into the recess between the mountains. The ground thundered and I could nearly hear the Yetocian bastards’ knees knocking together in fear. Our cavalry shattered their lines and the enemy routed shamelessly, the cowards!"
The invaders were completely decimated and thrown unceremoniously from our grand Empire's borders.
The Empire spent nearly twenty years rebuilding their maimed nation. Two Emperors of the Varas Dynasty came and went with these few years. Thirty years after the invasions the Imperial population was almost back to its normal size. Taxes soared, money was needed to compensate for the losses of the Yeto-Narcian invasion and for the boom in the birth-rate. Heavily taxed, the people rioted and the Varas Dynasty was cast down. A new ruler was placed on the throne, and for the first time in the history of the world, it was a woman, Charis Ichliad.
Charis, a particularly bright and sprightly empress, helped her people immensely. She was commonly seen marching through city streets followed by distressed guards greeting the commoners and giving them small gifts of food and money. Charis Ichliad was arguably the most beloved ruler of the Empire, known as Charis the Compassionate by her people. Charis' reign was cut short by illness after only ten years and her brother took the throne, the beloved empress passed away, but her dynasty lived on.
Unfortunately, Jevin Ichliad was nothing like his sister. She had been beautiful and loving, he was an ugly, scarred, and hard-hearted man. Jevin's forceful taxation and terrible treatment of the common people earned him the name, Jevin the Cruel. More people were killed for unpaid taxes during his regime then all others combined to date. Luckily for the people, their anguish lasted only three years. The second and last Ichliad's rule was cut short by poison. His death was un-mourned and no investigation of his questionable death took place.
Time and royal families flew by in what was known as the Age of Short-Lived Dynasties. This time period lasted about 2,500 years. No extreme technological advances or political changes took place in this dry spell of Red Hand history. Few wars were fought and the Empire gained little land, the growth trend had ended. Weak emperors and empresses seemed to pass like flies on the wind. One historian of the period had this to say:
"I go to bed every night wondering if there’ll be a new ruler in the morning, it's really quite exasperating."
While nothing great happened during these 2.5 millennia the event that ended the stagnant period was a phenomenon. For the first time, a Narcian was given the Imperial crown, in 6543M Avarca Cyr became the Emperor of the Red Hand. Exciting new times were coming to the Empire. The shadows of Aadsenfeloth were soon to be dispelled.
3. On the Dispelling of Prejudices and the Annexation of Aadsenfeloth
The events surrounding Avarca Cyr's ascension to the Imperial throne were shrouded in a haze of mystery. In fact it is only by luck that we can discern the truth from the many assumptions and hypotheses that we find in the biased documentations of that time period. The historical documents written by the Imperial recorders of that time are undoubtedly shoddy, owing mainly to ancient prejudices towards Narcians. It is from one manuscript that we glean fact and truth, a diary of Emperor Eiran Ephath IV's advisor.
The true account of Avarca's promotion was hidden until recent times. Thanks to the Gods and the luck of a young Narcian school boy the manuscript divulging this information was recovered. The young boy stumbled over a small cave in the Flatplains Region of Rawdas on the way to school one day. He was about to pass it by when he saw a glint of light in the recesses of the cavern. Intrigued, the boy crawled into the cave and retrieved the object. Upon exiting the cave he realized what it was: an old, moldy scroll with a golden necklace to tie it shut. The curiousness of the position of the document sparked the boys interest, he had almost broken the seal to read it before he realized it bore the insignia of the Empire. Upon realizing the obvious importance of the document, the child ran home and gave it to his parents, who immediately turned it over to Red Hand officials.
This ancient, muddy scroll held the secret behind the Cyr dynasty's origins. For this reason it's contents have remained confidential to the public until now. Thanks to Yuvecen Haytha, High Advisor to Eiran Ephath IV, the secret can be revealed.
The events that teach us why Avarca Cyr was able to become the Emperor of the Red Hand took place during the Age of Short-Lived Dynasties. The Ephath Dynasty had seen only 5 emperors before Avarca Cyr was mysteriously handed the throne. Eiran IV was the last direct heir in the Ephath family, his step-sister, Icea Ara-Ephath should have been the next ruler of the Empire, but Avarca took the throne. This excerpt from Yuvecen Haytha's diary accounts for what happened:
18th of Moonbane in the year 650 3M
Emperor Eiran Ephath IV, long live his majesty, has commissioned this entrance into my diary. He has commanded me to hide it well so that some day, long after our time, it may be found. His majesty the Emperor of the Grand Red Hand hopes that his legacy will not be tainted by the accounts given in this book, but he does not wish the truth to be withheld for too long. I, his loyal advisor, shall officially and earnestly record His dealings with the Narcians Tyral and Valic Cyr.
Today, 18, Moonbane 6503M, his Majesty invited me to a meeting of shocking importance. His Lordship met with the Narcian slaves Tyral and Valic Cyr. Two slaves of little importance until a few months ago.
Valic, wife of Tyral, caught the eye of the Emperor, long live His Majesty, with her beauty one day in the month of Houndsbane. He was bewitched by her looks and lust flared in his heart. He immediately sent me down to the young slave and gave me authority to buy her from her master no matter what the cost. She appeared in front of the Great Emperor, long live His Majesty, and inquired what he needed her for. The Emperor, long live His Majesty, eloquently composed a poem on the spot, a poem that spoke of her beauty. Valic seemed surprised but quickly regained the composure expected of a slave and asked again what His Greatness requested. He dismissed her into the care of His other female slaves, giving them orders to bathe her in perfumes and dress her in finest hark silk. Even I noticed the radiance of this previously common slave when she walked back into the Emperor's hall. The Emperor, long live His Majesty, dismissed all the courtiers for the day, including me, and took the girl to his bed that night.
The next day I remember His Majesty allowed his secret lover to go to her house at her request. A few hours later guards informed me that a Narcian by the name of Tyral Cyr had been arrested for attempting to force entry into the Imperial Palace. I quickly informed His Majesty of this, he recognized the surname of the slave that had been imprisoned immediately, and he went down to his cell to speak with him. The Emperor, long live His Majesty, returned to his throne room with both Tyral and his wife, Valic. The enraged Narcian husband had apparently stormed to the Palace in order to confront His Majesty. Upon hearing that the woman he had slept with the night before was married to Tyral His Majesty fell on his throne and held his head in his hands. The Emperor, long live His Majesty, apologized profusely to the pair and spoke thus: "Valic, why did you not tell me you had a husband before I took you into my bed? Grant me a boon, young Cyr, I knew not that your wife was a married lady before I shamelessly adulterated her! I must reconcile myself to you in order to be seen pure in the eyes of the Gods again! Tyral Cyr, I apologize for my rash actions upon seeing your wife's beauty. No excuse can be given for my lust, I crave your forgiveness. Ask of me anything in repayment for my heinous mistake!" Tyral's rage abated and he asked for a few months time to ponder what he and his wife wanted as retribution for the Emperor's crime of ignorance.
Now, today, the 18th of Moonbane, the two slaves returned, ready to submit their request to the Exalted Emperor, long live His Majesty. I sat at my Master's side at his request. I listened carefully and memorized the shrewd request made upon His Majesty by Tyral Cyr: "Oh Emperor, Lord of the Red Hand, Ruler of Musmercia, Kail, and Narcia, Retainer of the Musmercian Gods, we have decided what to ask of you in return for our forgiveness. As we are but poor slaves who have never known freedom we have never had hope that our children, that we plan to bring into the world soon, would lead lives of any importance, until now. Our one request is that our first born be given the throne of the Empire." I nearly choked to death on the bread I was eating (it was lunchtime) upon hearing these words, His Majesty however, simply kept rapt attention on Tyral. The Narcian continued, "This shall account for the full reconciliation for your sins against me and my wife and against your Gods. You are forgiven if you accept this offer." The Emperor, long live His Majesty, agreed immediately, much to my surprise, and seemed quite relieved to have the matter solved. I must remember always how noble a man His Majesty is.
I have no doubt the ascension of a Narcian to the throne of the Empire shall cause an uproar. His Majesty and I both hope that maybe a Narcian Emperor coming to power will dispel the hateful prejudices against that race. I pray that foolish prejudices will not uproot our Grand Empire.
This is the account of the pact made between His Majesty, Emperor Eiran Ephath IV, and Tyral and Valic Cyr. Upon His Majesty's death, Ishathel forbid it, the crown of the Red Hand shall pass to the House of Cyr, the Ephath Dynasty shall end and for the first time, a Narcian shall hold the throne.
-Yuvecan Haytha
High Advisor to His Majesty, Eiran Ephath IV
Official Recorder and Historian of the Red Hand
Avarca Cyr was born 2 years after the above contract was made. 23 years after this event, Eiran IV passed away and, true to his word, Avarca Cyr was crowned emperor. How the Imperial officials were persuaded into crowning him we can only guess. Historians have put forth three main theories: 1-Eiran himself ensured that Avarca would be crowned before his death, 2-Yuvecan (who was quite a powerful politician) swore that Eiran had willed the Narcian to be crowned, or 3- one of Eiran's appointed dukes was told of the secret pact and ensured that Avarca was crowned. Whatever truly happened may never be known but in reality it has little value in the history of the events.
Outrage from most of the Empire was viciously shown at Avarca's coronation. Crowds of citizens attempted to storm the stage, thankfully the guards were still faithful to their creed and protected the new Emperor. Most of the Red Hand people completely ignored the new monarch's coronation speech, which, had they listened, might have shown them that Narcians were not the dumb barbarians they were painted to be. His speech proved he was eloquent and spoke with style. This is the speech as it was recorded at the time:
Citizens, politicians, and all other fair subjects of the Glorious Red Hand, I know the prejudices towards my race you harbor. I beseech fairness of you, I entreat ye to judge only after you have seen my actions as the Emperor of your Grand Empire. Should I lose your faith from any other means besides ancient enmity then I will surely step down with the slightest petition. I implore ye to allow me five years to acquire your confidence. Call me a blasphemer you may, for I do not follow your deities, but I beg ye to observe the way I rule, not the Gods I worship. Why let religion hinder the impetus of our Glorious Empire? I shall heed no quarter in our scientific, scholastic, and territorial advances. Will the rites I hold to or the color of my skin undermine our progress? I shall do my best to hold to the standards you have developed for your Rulers.
In the name of all the Gods, all the races, and all the Grand Nations of the Red Hand, I pledge to uphold the names of Sovereign, Emperor, and Retainer of the Red Hand. I swear fealty and allegiance to you, my people, and our majestic Empire. In health and illness, in good times and bad, I vow to vindicate the expectations placed upon me this day with honor. As Emperor of the Red Hand I avow to safeguard our sacred lands and nations. I take as my commission the protection of our learning and you the citizens of our Grand Empire.
Right away Avarca dismissed the Governor of Rawdas and the Duke of Kail District and replaced them with his cousin Eriva Cyr and his father Tyral. This was of course a great political decision, even though it was met by rioting and unrest, because it ensured his position as Emperor. If 2 of his most trusted family members were placed in the Council of Office he would not be voted as unable to rule as he feared would happen because of his race. Avarca did not want to lose this opportunity, he knew the time had come for the Narcians to have a better place in the Empire.
It took Avarca the first 6 years of his reign to show his people that he was just as capable as a Musmercian to rule. During this time he did all he could to show the people he was loyal to them. He dropped taxes, he gained allies by diplomacy alone, and he often donated his own income to the poor and oppressed. Many times during these years his life was threatened. His personal guards thwarted over 20 attempted assassinations and the Emperor himself survived several failed poisonings. Some of the people began to have sympathy for the stressed ruler. Eventually, the Narcian's subjects began to lose their old prejudices when they saw how able a politician he was. The Senators and Seats of the Council of Office respected him even quicker then the commoners. His shrewd politics gained Avarca the trust of his fellow politicians. Slowly the people were falling in love with their compassionate Emperor. Regardless of assassination attempts Avarca Cyr had continued to travel the streets and highways of his Empire. He spoke kindly to all people and gave all the help he could to raise their quality of life even to the extent of personal sacrifice. The hatred towards Narcians began to abate, and these people began being freed as slaves, they were soon allowed jobs and even positions in government.
In the year 3,692 the secret of the Narcians was revealed. Their secret place of origin, Aadsenfeloth, was planned to be explored. Avarca told explorers where the island of Aadsenfeloth could be found. The people found out that Avarca had been born there. A strange thing happened then, something Avarca didn't intend to happen, Avarca was supplanted for a few years by a Musmercian. This Emperor-Regent was placed by a conspiracy of the government, the Musmercian lust for land was great, they wanted Aadsenfeloth for the Empire. The Council of Office and the Senate threatened Avarca's appointed politicians into voting for this rare action. They wanted land, and they knew they would have to kill Narcians to get it.
Icthialos Paegus, the Emperor-Regent, was a ruthless man of war. He allowed Aadsenfeloth to be explored and he used diplomacy only for a few months, when the Narcians of Aadsenfeloth would not consent to Imperial control, he attacked. Thousands of Narcians were slain in a war that lasted 8 years, however, many more Musmercian soldiers met their fate on this island than was expected. This island was sacred to the Narcians, and it was not to be given up lightly.
In the year 3,700, Aadsenfeloth came under the control of the Empire. Avarca was given back the throne and peace, for the most part, returned to the world. However, some of the Aadsenfeloth Narcians were angry at Avarca for giving their land away. Revolution attempts sparked to life, many underground groups fought against the Imperials that now ruled their country. The fighting dragged on in broken bouts for the next 300 years. Most of these were unorganized. After the first few rebellions, however, most of the Narcians simply accepted the rule of the Empire, they had seen how this would benefit them. Their quality of life raised greatly and only small bands of patriots defied the Empire after 3,810. The Empire was accepted by the Narcians mainly because it's Emperor was one of their kind. Indeed Avarca Cyr and his legacy could be traced back to the Dessert of Descent in Aadsenfeloth. No significant rebellions have occurred since the year 4,012, mainly due to the fact that they were treated kindly and with respect, allowed to keep their customs and religion.
The Cyr dynasty was destined for greatness. Avarca's descendants brought peace and light to the Empire for an amazing 3,508 years, the longest dynasty of Emperors, Dukes, and Governors that ever was or will probably ever be. It is for this reason that this family is referred to as the Grand Cyr dynasty. Aadsenfeloth, the origin of the Narcians, was finally brought to light.

Dear Reader,
This is the end of this part of the Aadsenfeloth history I am scribing for the honorable Quesen V. Now that you are aware of how Aadsenfeloth came to be part of our Glorious Empire I may write further books about Aadsenfeloth itself. Thank you for reading thus far, and I hope you have found this compilation of history enlightening.
