This might have been the hardest thing I have ever done.
My sword came crashing down towards his neck, but he avoided it effortlessly. He spun around and kicked me in the back, sending me airborne, but I landed on my feet just as easily.
This battle was not hard because of the ability of my opponent. This battle was so difficult only because I didn’t want to destroy him.
I loved him.
The metal of our swords crashed together, and the sound of the metal made me wince. He chuckled at my misery.
And I know, somewhere deep within of him, he must have loved me too.
Our father always told us that we couldn’t experience emotions… but I knew I must be feeling something now. It was so agonizing… and all it did was divert me.
He grunted as he heaved a gun at me, smacking me across the face. Before I even could opened my eyes again, he was right in front of me, and his hands wrapped around my throat, lifting me into the air. I dropped my sword, gasping for air.
This is not how I wanted to die.
“P-please…br-brother! Don’t-”
I wanted to say something: anything, as long as it would stop him from killing anyone else. I didn’t quite care if I died, but I wasn’t going to let him slaughter anymore of the humans.
I kicked my legs weakly as I drowned in my own blood, and suffocated from the powerful grip he had on my throat.
This was your entire fault father. You were the one who made us so powerful.
I couldn’t even remember the word to access his system, and even if I said it, it would shut down all of us. I didn’t want to kill any of my brothers.
Even though my heart was false, I could still love them.
