- Cassie Reynolds plopped down on the leather couch at her house. She sighed. "Oww." Cassie murmurer. She sucked on her hand, allowing the saliva to settle onto the cut she had gotten by chopping vegetables. The phone rang, startling the eighteen-year girl. She answered the phone. "Hello," she said, her voice in a neutral tone." Hey girl! Wass up?" Cassie twirled the black cord around her finger. " Hi, Susanne. I'm good. How are you?" She was speechless when she replied. " The Ice Cream Swirl is coming to town? Today? Uh-huh.Uh-huh...You've already got tickets? I'll be there!" Susanne giggled. " Okay. See ya later, girlie!" Cassie jumped up to change her clothes. She decided to wear a black tee shirt and a pair of ripped up jeans. The phone rang again. "Hello, is this Miss Reynolds? This is Dr. Hanson. I'm calling because you have missed your appointments three times without calling. Is there anyway you could come down right now?" There was a brief pause. "Sure, I guess." Cassie hung up and Susanne called again. "Girl, you've gotta get your butt down here now! The place is packed! I've even got backstage passes." Cassie squeezed her eyes shut with regret. "I'm sorry. I guess I can't make it. I have a doctors appointment and I'm going down right now." Cassie had to take the phone away from her ear since Susanne was screaming at the top of her lungs. "What do you mean a doctors appointment? Just blow it off!" Cassie replied with an answer that made Susanne hang up. Cassie tried calling back, but the dial tone was busy." Dang it!" She rushed out the door and started the car. Out the window, trees were whipping past hastily. When she arrived, Susanne was nowhere in sight. She'd left said the person she stood in line next to replied. She then gone over to her house and knocked on the door. "Susanne, open up," she exclaimed, pounding on the oak door. " Leave me alone," Susanne yelled back, her voice raw. "C'mon, lets go to the concert!" Cassie pressed her ear on the door. "We can't. I sold the tickets," Susanne blubbered. Cassie fell against the door. She gathered strength to speak and said," You're more important than that concert! Why don't we go to the mall? I'll get you those shoes you've always wanted." The door unlocked and the in the doorway stood Susanne. "You mean it?" Cassie nodded. She offered her hand. Susanne wiped her eyes and accepted the hand. The two hugged and walked out the door, still holding hands.
