• We awoke still at the oasis we had found, but the part that surprised us most was that we had woken up at all. I had assumed the Predators wouldn't let us go so easily, but they must have had bigger problems than us at the time. Yoko took stock of our situation. We had limited food, even if we gathered the fruits at the oasis we could only travel for a few days on very light meals. We'd have to move quickly, and hope we could find food on the way. We would set out when the heat of the day passed, since we were still worn out, and it was already mid-day.

    The advantage to being near the water was that we could fill our canteens and rest for a while in the shade. The shelter was always stuffy and hot, but out here the breeze kept us cool. We purified the water with some Iodine tablets I'd found early on, and we waited for sundown to continue our adventure. After a little while we both dozed off again, feeling safer now. We shouldn't have felt so safe.

    I awoke to find a man pointing a rifle at me, and another man holding a pistol at Yoko.
    "Get up, hands where I can see them." The first said to me, and a obliged, standing slowly and keeping my hands on my head. He did a quick search for a hidden weapon, and not finding any, lowered his rifle. His friend lowered his pistol too, and they both stood back.
    Then I recognized them.
