• Chapter 7 Farie Warning

Kailen seem confused as he walked through the door, finding the house filled with laughter. But his expression when he walked into the room stopped all sound. “Drake!?” Yelled my brother in horror.
“Kail!” Drake yelled back with cheer.
“Brother! Welcome home!” I called after; Kailen took one look at me, and then sent me to my room. But I strayed at the top of the stairs to listen.

“What are you doing here?” called my brother
“Waiting for you, silly.” Drake laughed
“I mean what are you doing here with Orla?” My brother‘s mood just seemed to be getting darker.
“She lives here now doesn’t she? And since you were away I decided to keep her company.” Drake seemed too amused with himself. “Plus, I have some new that you need to hear ASAP!” Drake’s voice darkened lower than my brother’s.
“What news?” my brother was concerned.
“A pretty face shows up in town and turns out to be the little sister of Kail the most charming guy in Northeastern districts. The guy, who could knock off the crown, of the most handsome guy in the city, with ease.” The way Drake said this so openly I had to question what my brother had been doing with his time in the city.
“So what? I ‘m sorry I don’t have time to be a lecherous flirt all the time like you do, I have a what’s left of a life after Cadi and I’m trying to keep it together, so let that Iolyn do whatever he wants as long as he leaves me alone, I’m no threat to him I never was.” My brother sounded like he didn’t care at all for this Iolyn person one bit, and I began to wonder who Cadi was I had never herd of her before.
“Oh, don’t worry about him bothering you Kail, it’s Orla he’s got his eye on.”
“What?” my brother exclaimed I heard a thud I wanted to go downstairs but then brother might get mad at me but I then heard my brother speak, each word sending shiver’s down my spine. “Where did you hear all this?”
“It’s all over the city, if you know where to look, from the baker shop at the gates to the gossip of the palace’s maids.” Drake seemed terrified of something while being sat on, so I guessed the sound from earlier was my brother pinning him down.
“Orla! You troublesome, eavesdropping, girl, get down here.” Called Kailen, I slowly made my way down from my hiding place at the top of the stairs to where he sat pinning down Drake to the floor. Drake took one look at my then smiled, I smiled back trying not to laugh from the scene before me.
“Brother?”I said in a calm voice. Kailen released Drake from his hold and went to sit down in a chair by the table.
“You might not be able to take that job at the seamstresses’ after all; even if both mother and father okay it.”
“But that’s not fair Kailen!” I yelled “what does this Iolyn person, have to do with sewing?”
“You don’t understand Orla, Iolyn is a man of high power and rank, so what he wants, he gets, by whatever means necessary.” Kailen heaved a deep sigh and buried his face in his hands.
“Haven’t you questioned why your brother doesn’t have a girl, Orla?” asked Drake sitting up from the floor.
“Well kind of, not really, I’ve known Kailen as a big brother so I only know him as a mean brute and a bully.” I answered “I assumed he scared them all off.”
“No” Drake chuckled “my dear Orla, your brother surprisingly has a sweet side as well.” But his smile sank “your brother had a girl once but she was…well… hmm how to put this?”
“She was stolen” both Drake and I looked up to Kailen.
    “What?” I asked confused
“Cadi was the most wonderful thing in my life.” a small smile was faint on his lips but the smile “but, with long, wavy, brown hair, deep, hazel eyes, a cheerful, laugh and a sweet, smile.” His smile turned into a deep scowl. “Iolyn had his eye on her too, but when she picked me over him, he just couldn’t take it…and Cadi…Oh Cadi…” Kailen couldn’t say anymore and stopped and went upstairs. Drake waited until we herd his door shut before he continued.
“I don’t know all the details but Cadirra Farheild now sits at the feet of Iolyn eternally bound as one of his many keepers.”
“Keepers?” I asked I had never herd of that term before.
“A keeper is a girl that Iolyn finds and locks away but never marries.” When Drake said this his face seemed to hollow and become very somber. Afterwards there was a long silence after that and I began to question a lot of my brother’s life in the city and why hadn’t I been told of these people before. “Hmm” drake said disappointed breaking the silence. “Sorry to see our plans will have to be delayed Orla.” Drake got up off the floor and stood in front of me his face as cheerful and lively as before. “Plans? What plans?” I asked. “Our date, around the city my dear Orla. Have you forgotten already?” question Drake, but it was true, I had gotten so caught up in the story of Cadi, I had forgotten about those plans. “Of course not Drake” I lied. “But I will still need Kailen’s permission to go.”
“I’ll take care of Kail, so tomorrow, be ready by noon for me to pick you up, Okay?” As drake stood in front of me waiting for my answer I could see why Kailen didn’t trust him too much he could be a tricky person but due to the circumstances out before me I didn’t know when I’d ever get a chance to see the city again.
“Okay noon it is, don’t be late I’ll be waiting for you.” I answered smiling, his face seemed to go bright red and he turned away.
“Tomorrow then, my dear Orla.” he then grabbed my hand and kissed it “Till tomorrow.”
