Intro:
Stars lit the night sky, filling it with dancing constellations. The most prominent in the clear night was the moon. It shone with a brilliance all its own, using the sun's light to give it an air of importance much like the shadow, staying on the other side of the light to create its own significance. That didn't just apply to the sun though. All light was opposite shadow and the moon was no exception. The light of the moon weaved through the trees and brambles, making a scene to set the stage for the coming day.
The shadows crossed a rarely travelled path, following one set of footprints. The only set that had been on that route for many decades. The path wound up out of the trees into a clearing with a rock jutting from the dead and moss covered earth. Atop it sat a man. This man was no ordinary man though. He looked off into the dead brush and leafless branches down his silver-plated snout. His black and gray horns were as dull as the rock he was sitting on. His great frill, now tarnished and ragged, ran down his spine and to the very tip of his reptillian tail. His face was riddled with scars of battles past and his liquid silver draconic eyes seemed almost lifeless, both with scars running through the scaley skin around them.
The tempurature was moderate, not too cold, but not too warm. The season was around the end of spring. Tears welled in the eyes of the anthropomorphic dragon. He was the source of this death. He had killed all this life, ended it without reason, but he had no choice. This curse was his gift. Life, in all its thriving glory, cringed away at the very sight of his scarred body. He screamed. He screamed at the curse. He screamed at life. He screamed at his own sin. He screamed to the world. He let the world know how he felt. He was in pain. The world didn't listen. Like the light, the life had left the area to leave the shadow. This shadow, The Thirteenth Shadow, cried. He wept for all those innocents he had killed. He let tears fall for those who he had stolen the lives of their loved ones. He cried for those innocent lives that he would inevitably take, for the guilty, for the punished, but most of all, he wept for the love he had lost to this curse. His family, his friends... all taken. None survived. Not even the greatest love of his life, the Juliet to his Romeo, the girl he was to spend the rest of his life with. He loved her more than anything. She was his world, his sanctuary, his soujourn. Now he roamed these lands, taking lives to pave the path for the new.
He looked to the distance and could almost hear her voice on the winds, a soft melody beckoning for him to never give up. He looked back into his last memory of her as she lay upon the bed with a listfull and satisfied expression painted on her face. His last words were those of his curse, he had told her before killing her and she accepted it even encouraged it. Told him it was okay, this was meant to happen. He thought of her silver- blue eyes that sparkled seductively in the moonlight. He thought of her breath down his neck and the taste of her scaley skin.
The nameless dragon looked to the sky for guidance, what was he to do? Where was he to go? A star streaked across the midnight sky and he made a wish. He made a wish that all this would just end, that his life would cease right there so he can be reunited with her. So he can see that crooked smile of hers one last time. Just one last time...
