Romulus and Remus
Star Light
Prologue
Cold wind ruffled my hair as I stood in the middle of a shinning white clearing as the sun tried to shine through but the falling snow block almost all of it making a permanent twilight even though it was little past midday, snowflakes so big that as they landed of my shoulders and head is felt like little dragonflies brushing against me, and the leafs of the tree around me were bent over in their weight.
I stayed there but a moment, long enough for five snowflakes to land on my before I ran for the edge of the clearing again, leaving no tracks behind me as the few snowflakes that had manage to gather on my cloak were blown off with the speed at which I ran, trees a blur on either side of me as I dashed by them as fast as I could, my should brushing a tree every now and then as I ran to close to.
“Eric, oh Eric where are you running to?” I heard a female voice behind me say giggle loudly after the words left her lips
“Brother you would escape.” This time it was a male voice, cold emotionless like someone doing something they hated.
“You chase me for no reason brother I have do nothing wrong.” I already knew he would not listen he was lost in his own mind that witch of a girl Elizabeth had stolen his heart and convinced him that I his own brother had killed our mother Elaina. Our mother wife of Romulus was killed 6 years ago, all blood drained from her body which at the time put only Elizabeth in suspicion. I’m not sure how or who made the decision that I must have killed my mother instead of her all I know is one night the guards came up to my room in full armor with spears out and swords at the hips I heard them coming in time to jump out my bedroom window a good 40 feet up in my tower they off the wall that surrounded the castle and run into the night.
I heard a whistling sound pulling me out of my memories of that night and jump to the left just in time as an arrow pierced my cloak right under my arm as fell and slide into another tree. Dazed and in pain I tried to look around but all I saw was white as my head fell and I reached up to find the source of my pain. My hair was wet and slimy; I moved my hand in front of my face and a blur of red appeared in front of the white as I focus on the red my vision slowly came into focus.
“Why, Eric?” I heard my brother say from above me. “Did you plan on killing me next so the throne would be yours have you really lost all of your love for our family?” I look up at him still dazed but my mind clearing “You have betrayed us all and for this the council and I have condemned you to your death, rest in peace brother.” He say his eye cold like stone as he drew his bow once more and lined his arrow with my heart
“Edward wait please I did not kill our mother.” I plead with him to understand to trust me for what was possibly the last time for me ‘
“Brother I will not listen to your lies anymore and even if I did I would still have to kill you, it is my order from father himself. Be glad that through my begging I am aloud to kill you with a silver arrow, proof of your noble birth rest knowing that that title is still yours.” With those last words he let his arrow fly, I felt nothing at it pierced my chest and drilled into my heart but I heard a raven cry as I fell into the snow.
“Has the final blow been dealt?” I heard Elizabeth ask Edward as the scent of roses floated on the air marking her as a mere human. Barely alive I forced my eyes open to see her wrap her arms around Edward and his arms around her.
“Edward I’m sorry you had to be the one to do this.” She said as I saw her pull a dagger out of her sleeve. I tried to warn him I tried to yell for him to push her away but all the energy left in my body was being used just to keep my eyes open.
“Let us return Elizabeth we will send a servant for his body later.” Edward replayed starting to push her away.
“I’m sorry Edward but only I will be returning.” She said softly as she pulled the dagger towards her into his back. As Edward fell down next to me snow being blow up into the air around me as the snow settled once more I saw his eyes open looking at me in shock. As our eyes met I could see the apology his eyes wish to say to me because right then he knew, we had both been betrayed.
