I sit staring at the rain that creates jagged streaks along my windowpane. They seem to be in a race. A simple competition of who can reach the dark concrete road to the fourth floor quicker. Didn't they know what awaited them past that ledge? A long six-story drop to the sidewalk below. If that didn't kill the hasty oh so jovial children of dark and saddened clouds above, then the light yet fast steps of hyperactive children, the heavy steps of busy men and the twisting gait of full figured women definently would.
My dark red phone seemed to be painted hundreds of colors as the rain that jetted down the window diffused the light coming in. No light went out. My room was as dark as the night sky. No stars twinkled in my room though. It was just how I liked it. Dark, macabre....much like the once flower filled landscape of my mind had slowly and painfully transformed into. The city will do that, but losing the only girl you ever truly shared a connection with will do that as well.
A beam of sunlight slices through those pillowy, rain inducing shields like her words did my heart so so long ago. It gave way to another piller of light that touched down only a few miles from my abode. My body cringed at the thought. As another touched down, my arm vanished. My eyes turn to view it and I scoff. Nothing new to me. In the face of light, I vanish never to be seen until the moon resumes it's cast. The clouds break and my legs depart leaving only a one armed torso. The phone before me rings and my eyes widen....
I reach out to grab it, but I cannot. I'm being taunted by fate. I want to answer because I know who it is, but I cannot. I roll forward, but my forward thrust causes my wheeled chair to slide backward. I fall to the floor and the sunlight makes it's way up my belly to my neck. Only my head is left. A tear falls from my darkened eyes and the sunlight, uncaring of my want...my need to answer the phone, swallows me up. My chance is lost until the next day of night, but I can't answer...for she, my love, is the night of day.

- Really good. Try to make longer stories though. Really, that is a really good short story though.
