They were scared to say the least, shaking violently as they held onto each other, the scent of fire touching scorching something was all they could smell. The two of them should have know better than to trust him, but she had thought it was okay since he was her half-sister's dad. But you don't know who these two are, or where they are for that matter so why don't we go back to earlier.
Belladonna giggled bouncing ever so slightly on the couch, causing her caramel brown hair to fall out of her mothers light brown hands, and onto Belladonna's light blue-gray shirt covered shoulder.
“Belladonna Columbina Vargas-Køhler, if you do not stop bouncing right now you will never be ready for your play-date with dear little Kerian arrives here with Miss. Asia.” Her mother said in a stern tone of voice before it became soft and sweet toward the end as she brushed Belladonna's wavy caramel hair back again.
“I sorry! I jusht can'ts wait ta sees Kerian!” The small five year old girl said as she looked up at her mother with her bright green eyes, causing her mother to give a light smile as she pulled the small girls hair lightly, so that she was able to pull it into a pigtail matching the other. She tied a gray ribbon around it, making it into a bow.
“Now stand up and let mama see you.” Her mother said flattening her fluorescent green apron down, over her royal purple shirt, and deep blue jeans, as she stood up, and taking her black rimmed glasses off from atop her head and over her deep chocolate brown eyes.
Belladonna hopped up from off the couch and patted her blue-jean overall dress down. There were shining silver buttons on the front of it, holding the overalls closed a light blue-gray short sleeved shirt was under it, the end of the dress was tastefully frayed, stopping just above her knees, just above a pair of knee-length light-blue socks and ankle length black converse.
“You look cute!” Her mother said picking her up and setting her against her hip. “Now go over the rules I told you.”
“Onwy go to teh park! Um...don't tawk to stwangews, have fyun, and wook fow Amewia!” Belladonna said counting them with her hand, before a knock was heard at the door.
“Now all I ask is that you do look for Amelia.” Her mother had said hoping that her youngest daughter would find her half-sister.
On the other side of the door was a woman with an equally tan complexion as the woman inside. This woman however looked fairly tired and was in business attire consisting of a suit top and skirt with pinstripes going down the outfit symmetrically. She was crouched down in front of a small boy, no older than 4, he had an olive complexion and stood in dark brown overalls, with a blue short sleeved shirt under it. His green eyes were shining with tears refusing to fall, behind a few strands of blond hair.
“Now don't cause trouble Kerian.” The woman said smiling as she finished tying the young boys shoes.
“Yesh Miss!” he said smiling ever so slightly. The woman stood as she heard the door open, revealing Belladonna and her mother.
“Asia, I'm glad you could come and bring Kerian by.” Belladonna's mother said, as Asia smiled.
“It's not a problem, Jade,” Asia started. “I mean it's the least I could do for Katyusha.” She said referring to Kerian's mother. “And it wouldn't be right for me to tell her 'no'. She can only handle one of these two at a time now.” Asia finished as Belladonna wiggled out of her mothers grip and jumped to the floor, only to jump and rush to Kerian, engulfing the boy in a hug. The two mothers smiled as the children laughed.
“I just made some tea and I think I may still have some cookies, if Shane didn't eat them all.” Jade said inviting Asia into her home as they were followed by the two little kids. “Go through the backyard and go to the park.” Jade said to Belladonna who instantly ran through the house and out the glass door onto the white and maroon red patio, Kerian following her close by.
The two children got to the end of the backyard, which led to a forest. Kerian shook a bit.
“I-It s-sa-safe?” He as he took Belladonna's hand shyly, her cheeks flushed a light pink.
“Of course it's shafe!” She had responded giving the boys hand a reassuring squeeze. “My sibwings tahke me thwough hewe awl teh time!” She said pointing straight ahead of her. “Stwaight thwough!” she said referring to a small area of light at the edge of the forest. Kerian nodded as Belladonna began to walk, he kept close to her.
The farther they walked the dimmer the light began to be. Kerian clung to Belladonna's arm.
“Itsh dawk!” Kerian cried as some tears began to fall. Belladonna looked around a slight frightened look on her face before she noticed an opening.
“That way!” She said pulling Kerian toward the opening. When they got to the opening they saw a small cottage, that had a wooden door with the British flag painted onto the door.
“Who's house dat is?” Kerian asked peeking from behind Belladonna's arm.
“Looks like Amewia's daddy.” She said as she walked to the door. As she went to knock a blond man in a dark green suit ran out, he had a pale complexion and thick eyebrows. He was coughing and fanning the air in front of him as smoke poured from his home. He stopped before he ran into them.
“Awe you okay misteh?” Belladonna asked as he continued to fan the air in front of him, he stopped as he noticed them.
“Aren't you that newest brat over at Mathias' place?” He asked, Belladonna nodded. “And who's that?” The man asked referring to Kerian.
“Kerian! He's my fweind!” Belladonna said. “And has you saw Amewia?” She asked, as the man looked around.
“No but she did say she would come by.” The man said.
“What's youw name again?” Belladonna asked.
“Arthur Kirkland, but call me Amelia's dad okay?” Arthur said giving the two of them a smile.
“Okay Amewia's daddy!” Belladonna said smiling, Kerian stayed behind her, glaring up at Arthur with a slight glare.
“Why don't you two come inside, you both look like you could eat.” Arthur said, Belladonna's eyes grew wide at the thought of food.
“Food!” She said walking into the cottage, Kerian behind her.
“This awl sheems famiwiar.” He said as he thought back to all the stories his mother had told him, he thought hard about ones with a cottage, and two little kids.
“Why don't you guys have some cookies.” Arthur said going and taking a plate out of the microwave. It was then it had hit Kerian.
“He wants ta eat ush!” He cried backing up and pulling Belladonna with him to a corner.
“Wh-what?” She asked backing up with him, stumbling a bit.
“It's wike teh stowy Mama weads me!” Kerian cried shaking. “Hanshel and Gweta!” He said, Belladonna began to shake, she should have listened to her mama, but she wanted food.
“I just want you both to have just one.” Arthur said walking toward the two of them a burnt mass of cookie in his hand.
“N-No!!” Belladonna yelled before the cottage door squeaked open.
“Hey dad, I wanted to sa-” A lightly tanned girl with deep green eyes said walking in, she had a bandage on her right cheek, a British flag on her left, a light purple tank top, on her left arm was gauze wrap and blue and red arm warmers on both hands. Her hair was golden yellow and cascaded over her shoulders and down to at least mid back, just above her dark jeans, stopping over her black heels. Her green eyes instantly went to her little sister who was shaking.
“Mewia!” Belladonna cried, before Amelia's eyes flickered toward her father, a fire appearing to burn in them as she walked over to him, her left arm running along the marble counter top before she grabbed what appeared to be a charred mass.
“N-Now Am-Amelia!” Arthur stammered as he backed away from his daughter, the look in her eyes seemed to hold a glint of evil. “Put the coffee cake down.” He said referring to what Amelia was holding.
“Belladonna and boy cover your eyes.” She said, the two of them instantly obeyed, before they heard the screams and cries of a grown man along with the sound of something cracking against the wall. “Open them.” Amelia said, she had a smile on her face. Belladonna and Kerian opened their eyes to see Amelia crouched in front of them. “Do you guys want to go to the park and get ice cream?” Amelia asked, the two kids nodded. “Let's go then.” Amelia said taking Belladonna's hand who quickly grabbed Kerian's. Amelia walked to the door before she took money out of a wallet with the British flag on it, and tossing it on the counter. “Thank you Daddy.” She said smiling at the semi-conscious man who was laying on the floor, what had been left of the coffee cake around him along with shattered pieces of plate. Amelia closed the door before leading the two kids off.
“Hey Bella, do me a favor okay?”Amelia asked as she led the Belladonna and Kerian toward the park.
“Otay.” Belladonna said looking up at Amelia.
“Don't tell mom what happened.”
Back at the house with Jade and Asia. The two woman had both been laughing at a joke when a tall blond male walked into the house, his hair was plenty messy and slightly hid his blue eyes. The male had been dressed in a long black coat and black pants, a red shirt could be seen over the top of the jacket and a black tie as well, he held an ax in his hand.
“Oh! Welcome home Mathias~!” Jade said giggling. He looked over at his wife before smiling.
“Hey Jade, what's for dinner?” He asked causing Jade to stop laughing, a serious expression taking over her face.
“I FORGOT TO START DINNER!!” She screamed jumping up and going to the kitchen. Asia sighed before she continued to sip her tea, Mathias scratched the back of his head.
“I didn't think she'd freak out like that.” he said chuckling sheepishly, as the sound of frantic cooking was heard. “And it's only 5:00 she doesn't need to freak out that much.” He said sighing and sitting with Asia, drinking what was left of his beloved wife's tea.
