When I think of others suffering
I forget about my own
They seem so small and insignificant
When I see I'm not alone
I whine and gripe about my misfortunes
Never thinking twice
Yet when I feel the acid burning
I feel like I'm trapped behind a wall of ice
That acid is another's pain
Filling up my soul
Mixing with my own self doubts
To take its deadly toll
To hear the screams of a thousand people
To feel the pain of a thousand lives
Ripped and torn and bleeding
To know the betrayal of a thousand lies
All around I look
I see hurt expressions and empty glares
Open wounds and torn stitches
I can feel the world's pain in one helpless stare
