Someone once said
'Differences make us stronger'
But as I stand here...
I cannot help but doubt.
Trapped in a world
Of people all the same,
A stereotype of race...
I know my individuality.
No more than skin-deep,
It shows.
And so I am afraid...
A protective paralysis.
It tightens its grasp -
A thin lithium wire,
Wrapped around my throat...
Snaring my words.
So I keep them in,
Never speaking for
Rejection is an obsidian void...
And I would be trapped if I did.
So I remember how someone once said
'Differences make us stronger'
And as I stand here before you,
I give in to the terror...
My silver eyes stare
Into a mass of orbs of jet,
And so the words don't come...
For you forever laugh at me...
The odd one,
The one silver-eyed,
In a race all akin...
I can never fit in.
So I hold my words inside,
Clutch them deep within,
Looking away from your cruel gaze...
I can't help but give in.
