Still Waiting

As you were about to leave
You told me to wait here for you
You told me that this war would not separate us
So I waited...
And waited...
And waited...
The days slowly ticked away
years passed by
But no signs of your return
But I still kept our promise
I waited at the place where we last saw each other
Where you told me to wait for you
The years became decades
And the decades became centuries
They days grew darker...
Colder...
The area of which I stand grew dark
The grass below my feet dead,
No longer living
Just like grass
My heart and body are dead
But I still walk this earth continuing to wait for you
When will you come and take me away?
