What You Said and Made Me Do
-
Magnificent tears glaze your face
Leaving your eyes a deeper blue
You’re so beautiful when you cry my love…
Did you know that?
Why do you cry my tragic beauty?
Why do you let those tears stain your face?
Don’t you know that your sorrow is killing me,
Leaving me helpless in this time and space?
I move the hair covering your radiant face
Touch your tears with my lips
Hoping to kiss away your sadness
Your tears taste like an ocean washing over me
I will not let you go
Never let you down again—
If only those were the words that were spoken
But the story doesn’t end that easily..
You see he said,
I’m sorry my beauty
Now comes the time for me to put an end to your tragedy…
The words I thought would never come
How easily they came, tumbling from his lips,
“It’s over”
In that moment my tears came pouring down like rain
Forming a puddle around my feet to deep to stand in
I began to drown.
All the memories rooted in the past came crawling back
Wrapping themselves around me
Pulling me back to the earth as my feet began to leave the ground…
The world became surreal and all the colors of crimson and gold faded away.
The dotted black sky that we use to stare up at in awe melted into a hole- punched piece of velvet
Not adequate enough to carry the stars that many wished for their hopes and dreams upon
Now you say you want to be friends
If only it were that simple.
Here let me just throw the love I have for you in a casket and place it in the ground
Beside all the other things I have just thrown away.
I will cage this song bird.
Not let her sing her love song.
Just for your sake
Because you need a friend like me.
My tragedy has no end.
