I sink into the twilight and shed my body.
Glimpses of you appear from a heightened view as the blurry clouds swing past me. I am alone. The northern sun escapes my grasp and flies away. With nothing left to hold on to, I fall to the ground.
With my palms outstretched to the stars, I wish to fly again. In echoes they say, “We’d invite you in, but leave your demons at the door; all you ever did was blame them.” The intangible children ignore me.
The stars devour them. They fade as the sun reaches the horizon. Chasing my shadow, time freezes in the middle of a spring dawn. My body returns and my eyelids flutter open, cursing the sunlight.
