“Relationships are ropes. Love is a noose."

Hearing the male laugh, strangely made him somewhat relieved. He didn't know why but he felt partially responsible for what happened yesterday. He'd only been doing his job, but still, he saw the way that woman looked at him. Like she was just certain that there was something going on between him and Micha and it was just this big secret they were hiding from her when in reality there was honest to God, nothing to tell. But the way she was acting and looking; Micha had no idea how badly he wanted to have pulled some little stunt, to actually give her a reason to be throwing him such ugly looks, to have such suspicions. At least then she could have a reason, instead she only made even a bigger fool of herself. Walking through the club, Samuel listened as the male talked about how horrible his day was. He could only imagine. He was certainly no expert in the field of photography and could only guess what an assistants job might ensure. From the way the male talked it didn't seem as if it was any fun. Going through the club, he stopped at the bar, grabbing a soda for each of them, figuring it wouldn't kill Micha if he had to hold out a bit before moving on to his usual drink. Handing one off to the male, he shrugged a bit. "Kinda boring. I mostly just stayed home working, made sure my maid didn't steal anything from me, which reminds me I need o call her and tell her not to come in tomorrow. I don't want her there while I'm not home." Samuel led the way back to his office, already looking up the number to call his maid. He didn't care how many recommendations a person had, he didn't like people being in his home when he wasn't there. Not to mention he just had this vibe about his maid. Like she was waiting to either kill him in his sleep or rob him blind when he wasn't there. Either way he needed a maid. The woman freaked him out, he didn't like it. "So what all did you have to do since she wasn't there? Like what, does she get your morning bagel or something?" he asked while unlocking the door and allowing the male to follow him inside.

"Micha wasn’t mad at Samuel for Claire quitting on him. If he had been truly mad then he would have never spoken to Samuel again. He saw no reason to be mad at Samuel over such things. Micha didn’t really care if Claire quit on him. Sure if put him into a bind with his clients but he could hire someone knew perhaps better if he was lucky. He didn’t want to worry about it now. Micha didn’t see it as a big deal; he was getting tired of Claire anyways. He followed Samuel through the club heading toward the bar. Micha stopped as he waited for Samuel to get the sodas. He took the soda Samuel offered and thanked him. Micha listened as Samuel spoke as he talked about his day with his maid. He found it amusing how Samuel didn’t trust his maid but he found it understandable. Micha followed Samuel toward his office as he waited for him to open the door.

He looked toward Samuel as he questioned him about what he had to do today. Micha rolled his eyes, ”If only it were that easy… No Claire was my stylist I guess you could say...She did the hair, makeup, and clothing for my models.” He spoke as he followed Samuel into his office. Micha saw that Samuel’s office was fairly clean compared to his own messy office. He wasn’t very crazy about cleaning but knew it had to be down. Micha walked toward the couch as he took a seat. He opened the soda Samuel had given him and took a drink from it. Micha wasn’t all that thirsty for alcohol at the moment. Anything will do for him. He hadn’t eaten or drank much today as usual when he got busy.
                                                          "

“Relationships are ropes. Love is a noose."

Samuel couldn't help but to wrinkle his nose in distaste as the male described the woman's former job requirements. He couldn't only imagine the hell he put up with today. It was one thing to dress and get himself ready for the day. But to dress and style other people? Not his department in the least. Alaine was the brains behind the majority of the color schemes, the interior design. He was surprisingly much more in tune with his designing side despite how bare and lifeless his apartment was. It had always made him curious why that was. The guy could design the hell out of a building and giving tips to other employees but when it came to himself he was an absolute wreck that refused to see a professional for guidance. "That really sucks." was all he could say. And it did. No good words of encouragement or advice came to mind. How did one even try to make such a situation better? If there was a way he hadn't the foggiest what it was. Striding into his office, Samuel watched as the male seemed to make himself at home on his couch, he didn't mind since he just had it cleaned the other day after his time with Alaine. Walking around his desk, he plopped down in his desk chair, leaning back and popping his own can open. " So mister photographer, what are you going to do until you can find a replacement? You don't really seem to enjoy doing her job. Do you have any leads that could help you find your next assistant person?" he asked curiously. Wondering if the male might just give up on taking pictures of models for the time being and focus on something else like how they were talking last night.

"Micha sipped on his soda as he sat on the couch. He really didn’t know what he was going to do now that Claire was gone. Micha didn’t have any plans. He was all out of plans. Micha glanced toward Samuel as he sat in his desk. He sighed a little as Samuel questioned him on what he was going to do now that Claire was gone. Micha shrugged slightly as he leaned his head back and looked up at the ceiling. ”No, I’m all out of ideas. I called all my other part-timers and they aren’t able to help right now.” He spoke sighing as he closed his eyes. Micha knew he had no options at the moment. He sat there with his eyes closed. It had only been a day so he hadn’t really had much time to think it over. Micha would think of something later or go on hiatus for a while. He opened his eyes as he looked back at Samuel, ”I could always run away for a few months though.” Micha spoke smiling at Samuel. He shifted as he stood up and walked toward Samuel’s desk as he took a seat on one of the chairs across from his desk. Micha didn’t like talking from such a far distance, it seemed too uncomfortable for him. "

“Relationships are ropes. Love is a noose."

Snickering at the males response, he could only imagine. He could just see it, Micha wondering about the city like some kind of paparazzi, taking pictures of everything but what he was supposed to. He watched the male cross the room to plop down right in front of him. Samuel held out a box of cigarettes in offering as he took one for himself. "You do know my offer still stands, right?" he said with a blank expression. Like last night, he didn't expect the man to take it. He was simply letting him know that the offer was still in place and seeing as he was in a bit of a crisis, find an assistant through his connects would be easy. He already had one in mind that could be perfect for the man. "Here take this. You don't have to call him, but he's a guy I know. He's good with following orders, doesn't get involved with his employers, and could care less about any of his employers bad habits. His going rate is a fresh pot of Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee every morning he works for you and the price of tank of gas. Other than that you're practically getting him for free." Samuel slid the business card across the desk, though still highly doubting the man would even take that. After lighting his cigarette, he set the lighter back on the desk, leaning back in his chair as he inhaled. "If you were to run, where would you go? And please don't say the circus." he asked, smiling as a bit as he glanced back at the male after changing the subject.

"Micha didn’t find it surprising to hear Samuel laughing at his words. He knew it was amusing to hear he was considering running away from his problems. Micha found it was an option but not a good solution. He took the cigarette packet as Samuel offered it to him. Micha thanked him as he took a cigarette from it. He set the packet on the desk then slipped the filter between his lips. Micha fished his lighter from his pocket as his lit the end of the cigarette. He inhaled the smoke as he fingered the filter with his index and middle fingers. Micha pulled it from his lips as he blew smoke out as he looked over at Samuel.

He listened as Samuel spoke about his offer again. Micha knew Samuel was trying to help but he didn’t understand. He didn’t know why Samuel wanted to help him. Micha believed that Samuel only wanted to help others but only if he got something return. He listened as Samuel talked about a man he knew. Micha glanced down at the card as Samuel slid it across the desk before him. He dismissed the card as he looked back at Samuel.

Micha slipped the cigarette back between his lips. He puffed on it a few seconds before pulling it from his lips. Micha blew the smoke from his lips as he let it billow out. He laughed softly as Samuel questioned him. Micha didn’t think he would run off to the circus but he did find it amusing in a way. He watched Samuel curiously, ”Why not the circus?...I have been told I’m quite flexible.” Micha spoke teasing Samuel as he smirked at him.
                                                          "

“Relationships are ropes. Love is a noose."

Samuel could only sigh as he was only again blatantly disregarded for help. It was true Samuel only helped when there was some sort of benefit for him. But that wasn't always the case. It was clear to him that Micha was struggling. He had connections and the guy always gave him tips or was good for conversation. It wasn't like Micha was the first and only regular he'd helped out. Plenty of regulars had asked about using his venue, some of the artist he'd have perform here in the past, about their interior design, etc. People enjoyed the way he ran business and wanted in on some of his connections. By giving out some of the names and numbers of that client, it only added more people to his circle. Samuel was all about networking. He didn't care what line of work a person was in, if it gave him something he could use, he wanted that person in.

Letting the male do as he pleased, Samuel choked a bit on his drink after hearing his comment. Coughing a bit, his cough turned into a laugh and he'd be lying if he didn't say he liked the way the male was smirking at him. The males statement definitely intrigued him and he certainly wouldn't mind seeing just how flexible he could be. It was certainly something he would love to look into. "If you have to join the circus that go for something like cirque du soleil. I hear they have quite the variety, better than any Barnum and Bailey's circus." he replied, smiling back at the male. Leaning back in his chair, he inhaled, taking another drag from his cigarette. He smiled over at the male, as he exhaled slowly and leaned forward to tap away the hanging ashes. "You feel like playing a game of twenty questions?" he asked, "Any questions, it can be about anything even personal and pass if you don't wanna answer. What do you say?" He smiled politely as he sat back, putting absolutely no pressure on the male. It was his choice. But he had to admit it would be a nice way for them to get to know one another better. Right now they were simply near perfect strangers and that was fine. But it didn't hurt to know just a bit about his perfect stranger aquantince. Things like if he was going to kill him in his very office or was the real reason he wanted to run away not because he needed an assistant but he was a criminal on the run? Things like that they were a tad bit important, especially when he was simply having a drink with the man in a small enclosed space with only one exit.

"Micha hadn’t expected Samuel to help him out in the first place. He didn’t want it either. Micha preferred that Samuel didn’t try it either. He saw it as more a pity than being helpful. Micha knew Samuel was trying to be nice but still he didn’t want to owe Samuel. He watched as Samuel choked on his drink. Micha found it amusing Samuel seemed surprised enough to choke on his drink then laugh it off. He smiled at Samuel as he laughed. Micha wasn’t lying when he said he had been told he was quite flexible. He’d been told that by a few lovers. He laughed as Samuel tried to convince him that joining Cirque Du Solei was better than Barnum and Bailey if he had to choose. ”I’ll keep that in mind.” Micha spoke softly as he took a sip from his own drink. He finished with his cigarette as he stubbed it out in the ashtray on Samuel’s desk. Micha looked back at Samuel as he spoke again. He raised an eyebrow at Samuel’s question. Micha sat back as he relaxed, ”Didn’t we play that last night?” He asked curiously as he watched Samuel. Micha had thought he answered all the questions Samuel wanted to know last night. "

“Relationships are ropes. Love is a noose."

Samuel childishly stuck his tongue out at the male as he laughed at him for choking on his drink. He couldn't help it. He had a mind that was a permanent resident in the gutter and being told so bluntly that the photographer was flexible was not something he was expecting. He nodded as the male replied to his circus comments, smirking as the conversation moved. "We did, but it somehow turned into a normal conversation so we never finished." he replied, grinning mischievously. " Also, seeing as we were in public yesterday, I was keeping my questions rather clean so to save you any embarrassment. Now we're behind closed doors and there's still plenty left to be known. After all, it's my personal belief that one can never truly know a person. We only think we know them because the other person has allowed us so much information. But in the end we can totally wrong about him or her and still know so little. It's pretty interesting, don't you think? You can never too much, because unless you read minds you'll never know how much they're truly holding back." In a way Samuel was nothing more than just another Upper East Side busy body. He enjoyed learning about people. It was like a game to him. A game of chance to see if what they told him could help him move up in the world or would they try to screw him over, causing yet another set back in his life. People were interesting like that. Their reactions, facial expressions, the way they moved. Had the option been open to him, he could see himself being more happy studying people as maybe something like a psychiatrist would. But he didn't want to be in a room just talking to them, that would take the fun out of things. He preferred talking to people out in the world. With things going on around them it made for more things to possibly happen and made for a more interesting study and how he would perceive that person.

Micha didn’t understand why private or public made a difference. He understood what Samuel was getting at by getting to know someone. Micha shrugged slightly as he watched Samuel. He didn’t mind playing Samuel’s game. Micha took another sip from his drink, ”Fine then… What do you wish to know Mister Bar Owner?” He asked curiously wondering what Samuel wanted to know that he couldn’t have asked in public yesterday. “Relationships are ropes. Love is a noose."

Raising his brows in surprise, he could honestly say he hadn't been expecting him to agree so easily. Most people told him to shut off or to just leave them alone. It was true digging into peoples personal lives was a game for him, but he was also aware that not everyone would play so easily. Not everyone liked having their business known. They liked it even less when a stranger was digging up old skeletons they never wanted to be seen. Finishing the last of his soda, he stood from his desk and tossed the can into the waste basket. He took one long last drag on his cigarette before stubbing that out as well, thinking what to ask the photographer. "Tell me something you've never told anyone, he asked in all seriousness. "What's your darkest secret? What would you do if someone ever found out that secret?" Resuming his seat behind his desk, Samuel slipped another cigarette between his lips, casually lighting it as he awaited the males answer. It was true they talked about a lot of stuff last night, but he still sensed the male was holding back. They weren't friends, they weren't lovers, hell they could barely be called an acquaintance. They were nothing to each other. Telling him something like this would mean little since they had no prior relationship to ruin. He watched the male carefully, figuring he would do one of two things. He could simply speak or refuse to answer and leave. It was his choice, Samuel was never really one to force people into talking.

He wasn’t all that comfortable answering Samuel’s questions but he didn’t think Samuel would drop it if he didn’t. Micha watched as Samuel stood from his desk and stubbed his cigarette out. He heard Samuel speak asking him a hard question first. Micha watched as Samuel stepped away to throw his soda can away. He stared at the wall behind Samuel’s desk. Micha wondered if it would be best to just get up and leave. He watched as Samuel returned into his line of vision. Micha stood from his chair as he walked back to the couch and sat back on it. He sighed as he sat there silent for a few more minutes before speaking. ”It’s not really my secret to tell…and here there’s not much that can be done anyways…” Micha spoke softly as he looked down at his hands. ”I don’t really care if it gets out because he deserves to rot…” He spoke knowing he wasn’t making sense at the moment. Micha looked up at Samuel, ”I told you I was on the streets when I was sixteen due to family issues…I was…Only because my father was abusive…He got too drunk one night and killed my mother in front of me…and has been on the run ever since...” He spoke before looking away from Samuel. Micha hoped that would suffice Samuel’s curiosity for now. "

“Relationships are ropes. Love is a noose."

Watching the male carefully, he could only assume he'd asked that one question nobody wanted to hear. Even if Micha didn't act it, everyone had their skeletons. Samuel was no exception, he too had some he was keeping hidden and would only share them when he felt inclined. Perhaps now was one of those times. He watched as the male stood, figuring for a moment he might leave. He wouldn't blame him, it would only confirm his suspicions of him having something to hide. His eyes followed him as he moved back across the room. Samuel was patient as the male sat in silence, waiting until he spoke. When he did, he exhaled the smoke that had been filling his lungs for nearly a minute now and let it out slowly. That definitely qualified for a lovely deep dark secret. Samuel was silent for a moment, letting the males words sink in before responding. "My condolences," he replied slowly. "If it's any consolation, my dad isn't father of the year either......Ever since I was old enough to understand what his words meant, he's constantly reminded me that were any of my businesses to fail miserably or I were to put any shame to the Davis name, the Russian mob has the right to do whatever they please to me and dump my remains in the Hudson River." Samuel strived for greatness, was obsessed with gaining power but never let it control him. Even if he divorced his parents, people still knew his name and face, the price for his head was placed when he was still a child. His voice was serious as he spoke, he had no reason to lie. One secret for another, even Alaine didn't know this one. Outside his family, Micha was the first person he'd ever told. Bringing his cigarette to his lips, he took another long pull, glancing over at the male with his usual blank look.

Micha hated the silence as he sat there. He looked toward Samuel as he spoke finally. Micha wasn’t expecting any sort of condolences. It was in the past anyways. He shrugged it off as he continued to listen to Samuel speak. Micha listened as Samuel spoke about his own father. He found Samuel’s father was rather uncaring in a way but it didn’t surprising him. Micha didn’t understand why Samuel was telling him about something like this. He didn’t understand either why he told Samuel about his father when he didn’t have to. Micha really didn’t know what to say really to Samuels’ sudden confession to him. ”Why the Russian Mob?” He asked curiously since he really didn’t understand who Samuel was. It was obvious that Samuel was someone of importance if the Russian Mob was able to kill him if they wanted to."

“Relationships are ropes. Love is a noose."

Exhaling he hadn't been expecting the male to ask about his family's mob connection. It wasn't as though it was some big secret, just something that was better left alone. It was same for anyone dealing with criminals and organized crime. The less they knew the easier it was to deal with them. "My great grandfather is the reason for our wealth. He came here from Soviet Russia during World War II. After the war was over, he started building his empire, he made a deal with the mob to help get him started. They're now one of largest share holders and basically the people we call when things don't go our way." Samuel paused a moment, taking another pull from his cigarette. "Personally I dislike using the mob's power to get what I want. I prefer relying on my own abilities. But my father on the hand is still as tight knitted with the mob as my grandfather and his father. If there is one rule I've learned from my family, it's that we do not make mistakes. When we shut down a business it's because we either lost interest or they weren't making a profit to handle the costs. Going bankrupt and putting a blight on our history is not an option." Samuel looked over the male, curious if he was satisfied with his answer. It wasn't the whole story, but it was the truth. The truth was messy, there were too many details and he'd be here all night talking if he tried to go too deep into it.
