spacePersephone followed after the other first years with a small frown on her face. The sight of the castle, so close yet so far, was intimidating. She'd waited her whole life for this, for as long as she could remember, and now, she was almost terrified of it. The last year had changed so much of her... she didn't know anything about herself anymore. She couldn't say what she was like, what she believed, any of it. She'd always had trouble with that, of course, given how disparate the things she'd been taught by her father and grandfather were. But now... Lysandar killing those people and her aunt and uncle should have made it easier, should have made her see that her father was the one who was right. And she'd tried, Merlin knew, she'd tried, so hard. It would have been so much better that way, after all. Ava was a squib, her grandfather had hated him for the insult he was to their line. But... he'd been her best friend for as long as she could remember. So when she'd been freed of Lysandar, she should have immediately gone to her father, should have understood, should have changed... right? But she hadn't; her grandfather had been too close to her, had taught her too well. She'd caught herself the other day, wrinkling her nose at a group of muggle children in the street, as if she were better than them. She knew she considered herself superior to her cousin, with his lack of magic. It was wrong, but it was how she felt. She could only hope that time would help that, would make things clearer. She wanted so badly to be a good person... if only she knew what that meant.

Seymour Benjamin Ryans [UNSORTED] Wand: Curupay Wood with a Pixie Wing Core, Pliable and Bent Blood: three-quarters magical Upcoming 1st Year ----------------------------------------------------------- "We are," Seymour answered when Lillith asked about his and Timothy status as first years and with a shrug he added, "I'm Benjamin and this is Timothy."
He watched as the three cats seemed to get familiar with each other and half felt like the odd man out considering he had gotten an owl and his owl was with his luggage where most students seemed to have been leaving their owls. As the redhead with the green eyes and Lillith wondered about where they were heading he said, "If it is anything like when my parents attended it would be the lake I would guess... who knows might have..."
He trailed off as they followed the woman who led the way and the lake came into view with the boats and she instructed that a maximum of four people to a boat and at least one person in the front should hold the lantern. "Ah, well the lake, then," He said with a shrug. "I wonder if there are piranhas or something normal like that in there..." He muttered curious. Of course his idea of normal wildlife was a bit skewed compared to most people considering he spent a great deal of his life on a different continent. He was mostly joking about the piranhas because he figured the lake was too cold anyways. It would explain why the woman cautioned them to be careful getting in the boats beyond them falling in and the possible embarrassment from it or having to be saved because they couldn't swim or something.
He glanced to Timothy wondering if either of the other two had noticed the fact he hadn't spoken yet. If they were mean or rude to Timothy, Benjamin figured his mother might get an owl home because he might pick to dump one of them in the lake. Though neither girl seemed like that. Wasn't something mentioned about Hufflepuffs. Weren't they supposed to be the nicest in the school or something? He wasn't sure and wasn't all that concerned.

Khiaave Akari Lennox First Year ~ Unsorted Mixed Blood Khiaave turned her green eyes to both boys and smiled to them, and held her hand out to them. "Pleasure to meet you Benjamin and Timothy! I'm Khiaave (key-auv-ay) but everyone just calls me Khia like the sky." She noticed Benjamin didn't have a pet with him and wondered if he even had one. Thankfully she had dropped her owl off on the way to the boats as they passed by the luggage piles. The realized just after the adult leading them had mentioned only four students per boat, that luckily they had gathering into a little group of four. "How nice! We can all four ride together!" she grinned at them all in turn, getting more excited! And it looked so amazing with the sun setting and the lights in the castle glowing and reflecting off of the lake's surface. She looked at Benjamin with shock, "Oh do you really think there are piranhas? I hope they don't jump out at us! My dad mentioned once that his sister said there were mermaids in the lake I'd love to see a mermaid!" She whipped her head back towards Lilly, "What do you think? Your parents went to Hogwarts! Did they tell you?" She grinned again excitedly to all three of the others. She hoped they didn't think she was a grinning loon but she was just so happy she couldn't contain it.

Beatrice Allison Horton Unsorted First Year Mood: uncomfortable Location: hogsmeade station With: too many people
Tris picked her way down the path towards what was a lake with boats. It was late and they wanted them to takes boats? When she heard someone tell them to get into a boat with the person in the front hold the lamp hopefully not too many people would join her boat. So with another deep breath she picked up a lanturn and took the fron of an empty boat. Honestly it didn't look as if it'd be a smart thing to gonon to the lake this late but she'd trust that thisnlady knew waht she was talking about since beartrices's knowledge amounted to a speck of dust in this world Ooc: short post is short and i'll fancify it some other time

Seymour Benjamin Ryans [UNSORTED] Wand: Curupay Wood with a Pixie Wing Core, Pliable and Bent Blood: three-quarters magical Upcoming 1st Year ----------------------------------------------------------- "Khia, right, nice to meet you," He said with a smile and nodded when she said that the four of them could ride in the boats together. "And sure to riding together, I'll take a lantern," He added as he laughed at Khia's look of sock at his mention of piranhas, "I doubt there are piranhas. It is too cold probably for them probably, besides they stick to river systems. And you usually are fine even if they were there as long as you don't go swimming with them. They taste good though."
He shrugged and glanced away a bit embarrassed. He had brushed it off sort of as a joke, but he had grown up knowing the risks about many of the rivers and their variety of fish. It was probably not a normal train of thought. And logically he couldn't see piranhas living in the Hogwarts Black Lake. He wasn't even sure they could survive there if someone added them to the lake to be honest. However, when the more realistic thoughts of mermaids being in the lake, that caught his attention. That would be interesting to know about and he wondered if Lilly would know, his parents never really mentioned anything in the lake, except something about a squid once maybe... it was hard to know sometimes if his parents were joking or not. They had an odd sense of humor.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX My silence was the silence, silence of rocks, My silence, it was the silence of the stones, Rocks and stones, Rocks, stones and trees; Of the landscapes Full of ups and downs. βTimothy was surprised to see that the red haired girl also had another cat hidden away in a cage but saw that Aurora had already sniffed them out and was focused more on the male cat in front of her. He was amused by how hyper the blonde one was acting as she introduced herself, her cat, and her friend while Benjamin did the same for him while he shyly smiled and waved. Thankfully his friend kept up the conversation for him while he struggled to get a better hold on his cat as they went to the lake while also shaking his head at his friends non-humor. Piranhas, really?! However Khia seemed excited about the prospect making him groan silently to himself; it would be just his luck that he'd meet two crazy adventurous types in the span of a few months. At the mention of the mermaids he decided to actually respond and wrote down his answer before passing it on to her. "Well there are merpeople in the lake, they're not exactly like the mermaids from fiction but they do have fins, long hair, and sing really beautifully. Under the water. Above water they sound like a banshee's worst nightmare!" Timothy chuckled silently at his own joke.β After the all commotion, [Unsorted] Ruffle and rustle, [Black Lake] Saw I silence, [Seymour, Khiaave, Lillith] All quiet and silently [Getting ready to go to school!] Prevailing upon. Khiaave Lennox First Year ~ Unsorted Mixed Blood
Khiaave blinked a few times blankly at Benjamin before finally responding cheerily, "That is cool you know so much about them, but, but you've eaten them before!? Wow. And they are actually good? Very interesting." She was actually quite impressed from his knowledge. She watched Timothy's facial expression changing throughout hers and Benjamin's conversation and wondered what he was thinking. She watched silently as he took out a scrap of paper and wrote a note. His smile was sweet she thought as he passed it to her, then her green eyes went immediately down to read. She then turned her eyes back to him, "Very interesting too. Oh I'd love to hear them sing, but definitely under water! I don't want to hear a banshee's worst nightmare!" she giggled. "May I share your note? If you don't mind." she then asked politely. She wondered for a moment why he wasn't talking, but she didn't judge. He'll let her know If he wants to, and until then she can completely respect his silence. She gave him a friendly wink, just like her Dad often did with her when he was being nice. Khiaave was very curious if Lilly knew about the merpeople. She was excited to hear what all her parents had told her too!

First Year Unsorted Proud Pureblood Eleven Years of Age Not unfamiliar with exertion, but also not partial to it, the annoyed young panther kept a wrinkle between his eyebrows as he followed the other students. He was sure to trudge just so far behind them, so he didn't get lost but also wouldn't have to deal with any of them. The journey here had been obnoxious enough, and it didn't help that they were about to cross some creepy lake with a gross gigantic squid somewhere within the probably-polluted water. His older sister Kris had recounted her journey from start to finish after her first year, an experience Timmin would rather have avoided. She'd been ecstatic about the lot of it, but Timmin could not find anything about the situation worthy of appreciation. He was surrounded by children who were probably unwilling to listen to him talk, and even if they did their twisted beliefs would likely turn them against him. The boy hoped they would walk faster so they could just get to the bloody feast already. At the very least, the food had to be decent. That way he'd have something positive to throw at his overbearing parents when he got home so that they wouldn't hassle him about being cynical. At last reaching the dreary shore of the lake, the folds in the boy's face crumpled even more. The boats seemed as though they could capsize at any moment, and Timmin didn't fancy getting wet on a cold night. This was ridiculous and dangerous, not that anybody else seemed to care. Muttering insults under his breath at whoever it was that came up with this sort of... initiation, Timmin took advantage of their chaperone's offer to the frightened students. At least if he rode with her, there'd be less children to have to fuss about. He clambered in carefully as to avoid slipping into the muck, still feeling more than displeased. As he sat waiting for the sluggardly stragglers, he watched the kids around him and judged them silently, creating background stories for them from the small facts he could gather. Looks like my brighter side has gotten a bit darker I must have stepped over my four leaf clover 'cause someone drank my half-filled cup of water[[OOC:]]

Location: Hogsmeade Station -> Lake Mira walked to the dock with the other first years wondering if this year held anything for her. Would she make friends? Yeah she doubted that. Who needed friends anyways? Listening to the lecture she scanned the possible boat mates. Who looked most likely not to bother her? There were a couple girls sitting alone and a boy who looked like he could be your typical bookworm.
Mira concluded she had probably a third of a chance if lucky that the boat she picked wouldn't have someone who wouldn't talk to her. Regardless she'd be stuck with someone on the ride. With that in mind and looking over every kid she had the option of sitting with, she choice the one that looked the least likely to be a bother to her.
Now, what would the odds have been that Mira had to pick the boat that had David's second cousin in it? If her sister knew that fact she would be freaking out. Luckily neither was aware of that fact. As of this moment she was just some girl that Mira would soon be classmates and maybe even housemates with.
Getting into the boat Mira remained quiet. She certainly was about to start a conversation. Unlike some she wasn't scared either. It was just water and honestly, Mira didn't believe that there was a squid in the lake. Besides if they fell in what would that say about the brunette's skills as an employee of the school? Seymour Benjamin Ryans [UNSORTED] Wand: Curupay Wood with a Pixie Wing Core, Pliable and Bent Blood: three-quarters magical Upcoming 1st Year ----------------------------------------------------------- "They are just fish, people ate them often enough, they lived in a lot of the rivers. Normal enough stuff. Fairly common, there were scarier in the rivers I suppose," He said to Khia with a shrug and then said with a short laugh. "Oh, I suppose I should say I lived several years in Paraguay where my Dad worked for a while as a mediwizard. My Dad works at St. Mungo's now and Mum owns Flourish and Blotts. Actually that's where I met Timothy. Hell, you might have run into my Mum there if you bought your school books there."
He shrugged and looked to Timothy who passed a note to Khia offering his input, probably about the lake and what was probably more realistically native to the lake. Seymour was more inclined to think what was normal for a place was the sort of animals he grew up more around-which were more rain forest like inhabitants. He smiled as Khia took the note well and even asked to share it and though Lilly looked a bit baffled by the note Timothy had written she didn't bring it up-of course he hadn't either to exactly finding out why Timothy couldn't communicate verbally or at least didn't. Well, Seymour had heard him make a laugh of sorts out loud, so he wasn't sure.
"My Mum spent most of her time at Hogwarts in the library or in the dungeons from what I've heard or I guess patrolling the school as a prefect when she was older. Dad was at the quidditch pitch a fair bit I guess... he was on his house team. I don't think either had much interest in the lake," Seymour added with a shrug as he looked at the note about the mermaids and raised a brow curious: mermaids sounded interesting at least. Maybe finding out what was in the lake would be a good pass time. It wasn't like he planned to spend all that much time studying.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX My silence was the silence, silence of rocks, My silence, it was the silence of the stones, Rocks and stones, Rocks, stones and trees; Of the landscapes Full of ups and downs. βTimothy was happy she shared his sentiments and thought his small joke was funny before nodding that she could show it to Lily. He felt rather bad he hadn't explained to each girl about his handicap, especially after seeing the confused look on the other girl's face. So he penned a short note but didn't rip it out his notebook but just flipped it around so both of them could read it together. "Sorry I didn't tell you earlier but I'm mute. I can't talk so I usually just write what I want to say. Or sign, but none of you know BSL do you?" He was still surprised Cash knew it to be honest. It wasn't something well known in the wizarding community. Hearing talk of a giant squid did startle and scare him just a bit. Everyone in his family had neglected to tell him that fact! He supposed that since there had been no talks of people dying or being eaten, maybe the professor had just been kidding. He really hoped so. β After the all commotion, [Unsorted] Ruffle and rustle, [Black Lake] Saw I silence, [Seymour, Khiaave, Lillith] All quiet and silently [Getting ready to go to school!] Prevailing upon. Chase was about disappear after the hoard of first years when she heard her name called out. She spun on her heel to spot Lior hurrying towards her. She chuckled as he mentioned the crowd stealing him."It doesn't help that we're the shortest group of people here. Of course, soon enough we'll be the big ones!" She grabbed Lior's hand quickly as the first years all started leaving the station. "Come on! I won't let you get stolen this time!" Gripping his hand tightly, she led the way off towards the black lake and soon enough they had caught up with the rest of the first years and the boss lady who was shouting orders at them.
"4 to a boat, well me, you, and Melody makes 3, so that leaves room for one more! Maybe we'll make another friend." She shrugged acting as if having friends made no difference to her. That was partly true too. She didn't really care if she had friends totally, but on the other hand she did want friends. She hated being alone. It made her feel like she stuck out even more than she already felt like she did.
She hopped along to an empty boat and then hopped the small gap from the dock to the boat, causing the boat to rock in a rather sketchy way before she plopped into a seat and glanced back at Lior. "You joining me? I'm sure Melody will find us sooner or later. Its not like the boats can leave without all the first years right?"

Oh you should've stayed home. You should've known better! Wendy Madeline Chaisty [UNSORTED] Wand: Hazel and Merpeople Scales, Inflexible, Decorated Shaft, 9 1/2 inches in length Blood: Pure. Currently: a 1st Year Wearing: Plain Black Uniform
Joined by: Mira Mitchell ----------------------------------------------------------- Wendy's fingers that had been tapping the cool surface of the lake's water lifted lightly when she felt the slight rock of the boat and a blonde haired girl stepped into the boat and sat down not saying anything. She narrowed her eyes briefly at the girl trying to figure what she could judge about the girl, beyond the obvious that she was a first year, and had the combination of blonde hair and brown eyes like her Cathaline League, her way too bubbly Hufflepuff second cousin did. However, very much unlike the Hufflepuff this girl didn't bother saying anything to her or trying to start some conversation with her or chatter on about whatever caught her fancy or keep some perpetually annoying smile on her face at all times. It wasn't like Wendy ever shown any particular fondness for Cathaline, or not enough to warrant the overly warm pretense Cathaline kept around her even when others weren't around. It was weird Wendy had decided very early into the summer.
She returned to trailing her fingers over the side of the boat and skimming the surface of the water as she paid little attention more to the girl who had sat in the same boat as her. After a while of hearing various more chattier of their future classmates go on and on trying to bother making friends or just fill the otherwise peaceful night, she finally said levelly to Mira glancing at her briefly, "It would be so kind of you to hold the lantern. I'm sure you wouldn't mind right? Not that hard to do, after all, and you are closer."
She smiled at Mira after saying that much before returning her attention to the water and not saying much else. You thought you were gonna throw it back in my face, but tell me how do my leftovers taste!
