Remy had already griped at him, and it made him feel bad. He pet Chaser as Alaric held the cat. "For a cat? Chaser's cute no matter what!" he said with a giggle. Romy loved cats, and he loved his little furball the most. Chaser was his only friend for years, and now he had a fair few companions. "Oh, you quit? Why?" He frowned. It was a shame Romy couldn't play this year, but Alaric started to think of something.
"At least it means we can both try out together next year? And yes, he's very cute. Even if he does cough up hairballs," Alaric said with a small laugh.

He stepped a bit closer to Alaric and used "petting his cat" as an excuse. He stroked Chaser's soft fur and smiled. "He only coughs them up once in a while! Alaric nodded, his eyes studying the boy's face as he talked.
"Well, you did a good thing. Besides, there's always next year,'' said quietly.
When Romy started giggling and being ridiculously happy again, Alaric tried not to cringe. The other Gryffindor seemed to have a default of sunshine and rainbows. He felt the boy move a bit closer and Alaric noticed he was a good two inches taller than Romy. He felt a bit awkward, but he didn't want to throw the cat back at Romy or anything so he just stood there.

"Hey, you're the one who got all close! I'm just kind of awkward. And what do you mean, the landscape? Or this?" he gestured to the lack of space between them. The boy made him a bit uncomfortable sometimes. Rei didn't, but that was because he made Alaric go in defense.

Alaric immediately regretted saying what he did. Feeling bad, he didnt really know what to do. He leaned over the rail next to Romy and looked at him.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way. I just get uncomfortable sometimes cause I'm not really...sure about myself? I just don't know where I stand with things that's all," he admitted for the first time. Between Romy and Rei, both of which seeming to like him on some degree, Alaric didn't know where he fit in with all that. He was still holding the boys cat safely behind the rail, but he handed Chaser back to the other Gryffindor.

"I really don't know, probably. But I guess that's life. Besides, Katrina and Ariana get along fine. Maybe it won't be so bad at Hogwarts. " Talking about this subject gave Alaric a feeling of finality that he didn't like.

Alaric listened to the other boy and nodded. Romy ruffled his hair, and then started blushing again. Alaric wondered why all of the sudden he had so many people all over him. To be honest, it seemed Tobi was more Alaric's speed in the thick of things. Alaric tried not to kick himself, reminding himself that they were brothers now and even tiny thoughts like that were gross. Besides, he didn't like any of the three boys.
Alaric looked out at the view, trying to not look at Romy.
"I wonder how cold the lake is," Alaric said absentmindedly.
