Mordred was sure he was one of the odd men out, in taking the class not for some advantage on the quidditch team but merely out of curiosity. Though considering how few showed up for the Ravenclaw team he might try out next year merely out of house loyalty. He didn't say anything as Gid answered in regards to what the position was but when the Hufflepuff girl pipped up Mordred looked at her skeptically and repeated under his breath, "Bludgers of Doom?" Where the Hell did she come up with things like that? He was sure she was naming things herself and it wasn't something that people seriously called their beater team, even if they might have been fantastic.
Interesting that your first thought goes towards dark matters, And you're clever enough to determine For yourself that I have seen my fair share of dark minds, I know where to place you dear boy... Ravenclaw!

Liam approached the center of the pitch at a brisk pace, settling in off to the side of the small crowd once he arrived. Taking this course seemed bittersweet, now that he had given up his role on the quidditch team. His father had ceaselessly insisted he must maintain the high reputation of the Cade family with an admirable spot on the team, especially after being placed in Ravenclaw over Slytherin, but at this point Liam wanted nothing more than to break Addison Cade's reputation like he had broken his son.
Despite how few students were attending this class, they seemed—for the most part—highly devoted. The professor's question was answered in full without hesitation, causing Liam to keep quiet rather than add to the current level of redundancy. A small smirk curled one end of his lips at Mordred's hushed remark to Hannah's colorful description, but his face returned to stone soon after.
"Morning!" Emma greeted her classmates and uncle for her last class for the week. She was so delighted that her favourite class was the one she ended the week on. Not to mention it was the only class she had that day. Holding her broom, Emma couldn't wait to get things going. She knew the order of positions and although Beater wasn't her favourite she knew Hannah would enjoy it. Smiling the whole time, Emma listened to her uncle greet them and asked about the position of Beater.
Gid answered first followed by Hannah. Emma smiled at her friend mentioning the Bludgers of Doom. Was that even true. She didn't know but it sounded legit. Mordred didn't seem to think so, he sounded almost confused at her comment. However at least this year no one was getting into any fights over such things.
Somewhere you'll fit in huh? A loyal friend like you? I think you'll have no trouble fitting in here! Hufflepuff!

"Yes, you are absolutely right Gideon." Landon said brightly. "And you as well Hannah. Although, I would know if the Slytherin beaters were referred as such." He told her with a small chuckle and a smile. "10 points to both Gryffindor and Hufflepuff." He added brightly all the same. "A beater's job is in fact to hit bludgers at the opposing team to make it more difficult for them, as well as to protect their own teammates from incoming bludgers. There are two beaters on each team and they are known to be the ones most hit by bludgers, whether it's by being aimed at or missing their target." Landon explained.
“Now, I’m sure you don’t want to just sit and listen to one giant lecture on how playing Beater works. Besides I find the best way to learn is to try it for yourself.” Landon told them with a small smirk. “So today I’m giving you a change to try it out for yourselves. For those who already know how to play Beater think of this as practice. I promise our next topic will be something you’ve never done less you’ve played any other position.”He said knowing it would be boring for those who already knew but they could at least help their classmates if they wanted too.
Landon then handed out the Beater bats and brooms to anyone who needed them.“Now before I release the bludgers on you I’m going to explain how this works. Line the Beater bat up with the incoming bludger, and give a good swing at an angle that will get it to go in the direction you want it to go.”He explained. “You are all aiming at those targets there, so good luck and most importantly have fun. As mentioned before, with playing Beater you take a big risk of being hit, but do not worry if that happens. I’ll be casting the softening charm to insure you don’t get injured during class.” Landon assured them hoping they’d go out there and just have some fun.

Hannah was pleased to score a few House points, having learned over the past few years just how precious they could be, and happier to have the chance to get into the air, and play her position, even if it was only against targets. To her it seemed a bit of a cop-out having charms used to soften the impact of the Bludger; how could one learn to have a healthy respect for them if one didn't risk breaking bones every time they took a swing?
Still, she wasn't one to complain, she was getting some extra practice in, and she needed it if she were to ever have a shot at making the first team. As a Bludger flew up toward her, she took her first swing...

Liam had two years of quidditch experience, but none as a beater. Surprisingly, this opportunity still excited him, as he had yet to get a chance to play the beater position even in practice, though he understood how it worked. He accepted one of the beater bats without objection; he was excited to get a chance to take a swing, and see what the game of quidditch was like from this perspective.
The Ravenclaw mounted his Firebolt and lined himself up with one of the targets that they were instructed to aim for, the wood of his broom comforting to his course palm. It was only a matter of time before Professor Price released the bludgers, one of them heading straight for him. Reflexively, he slid his broom hand back toward him and straightened his back. The weight of the bat was unfamiliar in his left hand, but not necessarily heavy. Lifting the tool to his side as the bludger approached, Liam decided to meet the ball, zipping toward it as he swung the bat with all his strength and narrowed his eyes on the target.

As Liam's bat collided with the bludger, he could feel the weight of the ball pressing against the force of his arm. He was successful in hitting the bludger, but not the target. The ball missed by a few feet, and he huffed in disappointment. This was only a class assignment, and it was only his first time playing this position, but the failure still stung like the cool air on his hot cheeks.
A deep breath crawled from his throat as he spun around and re-positioned himself in line with the target, making sure to keep an eye on his surroundings as he did so. It was several minutes before another bludger came for him, but he welcomed the opportunity. Bracing himself, this time the boy held his stance instead of meeting the ball in the middle again. As the bludger approached, he swung the bat with a strict, calculated movement, hoping to connect.

As Liam swung to hit the bludger, he over-calculated the force needed to do so, his bat completely missing the ball—but the ball didn't miss him. He braced for the hit, but Professor Price was clearly on top of things with the cushioning charm. He barely felt the hit before the bludger took off in the other direction, and he was thankful, having been knocked completely off his broom by a bludger in practice his first year. He knew they could be destructive, but he was glad that none of the students that were new to quidditch in this class would have to experience that today.
Rolling his eyes and letting out a quiet laugh out of frustration, Liam readied himself once more, his body tight and his bat arm at the ready. This time, as he swung his arm he attempted to adjust for the expected resistance of the ball.

Finally, Liam's bat connected with the bludger, which was sent soaring toward the target, hitting it dead center."Yes!he whispered to himself in delight, having been extremely frustrated by his two previous failures—one of which could have caused him significant injury had this been a real quidditch game. He was glad he had finally gotten a hold of it, even though it took several tries. His success just went to show that with the proper calculations and adjustments, anything was possible.

"Well done both of you +10 points to Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw." Landon told Hannah and Liam. He'd only had to cast the softening charm once which was great. It meant his students were quick to pick up on the different positions. He was certain his class would do find come next class. "Class dismissed, see you all next week."

Landon liked what he saw during the last class. They were a good bunch of students when it came to targeting things. However, now they'd be dealing with the snitch an evasive little ball that was down near impossible to see. Landon knew full well that catching the golden ball was a challenge and a real challenge at that. As he waited for his class to arrive he thought about the position they would be going over.
“Good morning class. Last we covered the position of Beater. Today however we will be learning the position of Seeker.” Landon told the class. “The Seeker has only one sole purpose in the game of Quidditch.” He explained. “Now can anyone tell me what that is and why it’s one of the most important jobs?” he asked the class. It was an easy question but it got them involved before working on the practical.

"The Seeker's job is to find and catch the Golden Snitch, Professor," said Hannah cheerfully. "Whomever catches the Snitch earns one hundred and fifty points, and ends the match at that point. While the team whom catches the Snitch will usually win the match, its possible if the other team has scored enough goals they might win anyways, but this doesn't happen too often. The 1995 Irish team won the World Cup this way, even though the Bulgarian Seeker caught the Snitch." Being a long-time Irish team supporter, this was a bit of Irish team Quidditch lore she knew, though she might have messed up on the year it took place.

Emma walked onto the pitch just as class was starting. Looking to her uncle as he began teaching, she smiled. They were learning seeker today, which was fun because they got to try finding a snitch. Then again it wasn't fun because if you couldn't find it you spent all class trying to find the elusive ball. Listening to her friend answer what the seekers job was, Emma smiled brightly. Hannah was good at this quidditch thing. Then again so was she and she hadn't grown up with the game. After Hannah was done Emma thought of something to add but couldn't think of anything. Looks like her friend took the words from her mouth.

Landon listened to Hannah as she answered his question. "Yes, that's right. 10 points to Hufflepuff." He said with a smile. "Which ever Seeker catches the snitch gains one hundred and fifty points. In most chases that will win the game for their team. However, in some cases the Chasers can score enough points to go up and over that amount. All depends the dynamics of the game."He said brightly. Now onto the fun part.
"Now this is the golden snitch as you probably all know from playing or watching the game." he said taking out the golden ball and holding it between his fingers showing it around. "Your task as Hannah and I stated before is to find and catch it. Now, I don't expect you to all be expert Seekers just do your best. So as long as you try you'll be given credit for your effort." Landon told them. "So go get on your brooms and have fun." he added as he let go of the snitch and let it fly off.

Having watched her younger sister try this, Hannah knew how hard it was to try hunting down the Snitch. Just spotting it was tough, let alone plucking it out of thin air while dodging Bludgers. Still, it was more fun than slogging through homework or having to sit through a tutoring session with her cousin. When called upon to do so, Hannah got onto her broomstick and floated up into the air, prepared to go head-to-head with her best friend in a friendly match of 'Catch the Snitch'.

As Professor Price spoke, Liam shielded the sun from his eyes with one hand and held his Firebolt in the other. He was excited to hear they would be trying their hand at the seeker position today. During his first year trying out for the Ravenclaw quidditch team, he had been tempted to put down "seeker" as his first choice of position on his try-out form, but he had ended up choosing chaser instead—and he had not been disappointed, either. He had yet to get a chance to play the position, and looked forward to seeing how he'd do.
Once the students and snitch were let loose, Liam kicked off the ground and soared into the open air. Although he had particularly good eye sight, he had a feeling just spotting the snitch would be extremely difficult. Glancing around, he began to circle the pitch, not allowing his eyes to linger on any one area for too long.
