Timothy had been watching the sorting quietly. However, when the stool was placed away, he stood patiently and walked over to the podium. He looked over the crowd of assembled students, ready to welcome them to the new school year."Hello everyone, and welcome back for a new school year. For those that are just now beginning their education at Hogwarts, I would like to extend a welcome and hope they are diligent in their studies. However, before we begin the feast and forget what needs to be stated, I must make the usual school announcements. There is to be no magic used in between classes in the halls, and the Forbidden Forest is still quite forbidden to anyone that doesn't wish to die young. The other school rules are posted for people to peruse at their leisure, but considering these are the most frequent violations, I must bring them up here. Now, let us sit back, tuck in, and enjoy the feast before the evening ends."Timothy took a seat, ready himself to eat.

XXXBenjamin sat on the stool unmoving when the hat had declared it's decision. He stood up, felt the hat removed from his head, and moved automatically towards one of the tables that he had expected to of been sorted into; however, he corrected himself and sat in an empty space on the bench near a few of the other students of the Hufflepuff house. When he was situated there, he had smiled and greeted the other students there, but shyly avoided their eyes, thinking about the house he had just got sorted into. As the other first years were placed, Benny looked to lock eyes with his friends that were still in queue for the hat.
"Hufflepuff?" He mouthed noiselessly to his friends once he had met their eyes.
He had once heard a couple bits about the lot that were sorted into this house, and from what Benny could remember they were all "goody two-shoes", as he would put it. He wondered whether he would see much of his friends, certain that they were not going to be in the same house. He started to worry about all the great adventures and trouble that he was planning on getting into, but dismissed it from his mind when he saw Balder get sorted into Hufflepuff as well. He perked up a little, knowing that at least he would know someone that he would share the dormitory with.
Benny cheered for Balder, and then proceeded to watch the sorting. It went by quickly, though his heart sank every time someone he knew was sorted into a different house. Eventually it was time for the headmaster to present the feast, and gave a rousing speech. Benny thought the instructions rather vague, and thought that he might be able to come up with a few excuses or find loopholes in them, but put it out of his mind when the food appeared.
Food out of nowhere, and he smiled wide, thinking it must be the best enchantment ever. He looked up at the other students, smiled, and then realized that he had failed to introduce himself.
"Hey, I'm Benny." He said, smiling and meeting their eyes.
((OOC: Heeeeey Hufflepuffs biggrin Sorry for the late post, work has been crazy this week.))
Emma hoped Fianna enjoyed Gryffindor. Honestly she didn’t know anything about the house expect for a number of her friends were sorted there. However, just when she was going to say something Minnie came over. She felt her heart skip a beat when she saw her, or that’s what it felt like. Looking between Hannah and Minnie, Emma gave a semi nervous smile. “That’s okay, families important no matter how confusing some of them can be.” She said before adding, “You weren’t interrupting anything. We were just talking about Hannah’s sister Fianna getting placed in Gryffindor just now.” Minnie didn’t even know and she was already fumbling.
Mentally beating herself up, Emma was grateful when the headmaster called for the feast to begin. She could concentrate on food instead of her feelings. Was that even possible? Pushing the thought aside she ended up nibbling on a few carrot and celery, while drinking her soars away with plain old water... It certainly didn’t help but it couldn’t hurt.

Cordelia peaked into the Great Hall before walking in. Barely anyone had shown up yet, thankfully. That meant she could choose any seat, and preferably, one that Zephyros wouldn’t sit next to. The brunette confessed her feelings for him, half hoping and the other half expecting him to like her back, but that hadn’t gone to plan. It took a lot of guts for Cora to tell him how she felt, and when he didn’t return any feelings for her, she tried to act as cool as she could before crying in the girls’ bathroom. So much for getting a boyfriend, she thought dully, taking a seat at the end of the table furthest away from the entry way.
The typically cheerful student realized she had been longing for home. In fact, this was the first year that she would have rather been home than at school. At least she had a couple months to get over feeling humiliated. The saddest part about this situation was the Zeph went from being a friend to being someone Cordelia had been avoiding.

Zeph sighed as he entered the Great Hall, already looking around and shifting awkwardly as he spotted Cordelia. He didn't exactly know what to say to her, other than he just didn't like her the same way that she liked him. Which made that whole incident awkward, and now he was painfully aware that there were probably other girls that might have crushes on him. Puberty sucked. He'd cone to that conclusion quite quickly. He wasn't interested in girls right now, and he felt sorry that he had to say no to the first girl that admitted she liked him. It wasn't his fault or her fault. Just the way life went. He sighed, deciding to slump down at one end of the table away from Cordelia, figuring that he might as well stay out of the way and let her have her time to try and get over the rejection. He really didn't mean to hurt her. He however did, and he just sighed, thinking that maybe he should just hang a sign around his neck stating he wasn't wanting a relationship right now.

Gryffindor │ Fourth Year │ Muggleborn
Levi walked into the Great Hall, sidestepping the Gryffindor table and taking a seat at the Hufflepuff table. He figured he should've gotten that early to get a seat next to Zeph, seeing as his friend had become quite popular recently. He wanted to at least have a nice conversation with him before they departed for three months. If they didn't make plans to hang out over the summer, that is. As he took a seat next to Zeph, he noticed that girl who had been cheering for Zeph at some of the Gryffindor quidditch games at the exact opposite end of the table, looking pretty depressed.
If he had to guess, it was because Zeph rejected her. The two had never really talked much about girls, but his friend just didn't seem the type to go for the first girl who threw herself at him. Not to say that she wasn't cute or anything.

Zeph looked over to Levi as he sat down, giving his friend a wave as he looked over/ Well, if nothing else, maybe Levi had some advice, though he'd never seen anyone interested in his best friend. Then again, he hadn't exactly been paying attention himself to girls. He didn't know if any girls were looking at him or not."Hey Levi. You have any suggestions for a way to apologize to someone for breaking their heart? I mean, I didn't mean to, but..."The tall teen shrugged, not knowing how to really explain how he wanted to make it up to Cordelia without hurting her further or confusing her. It was like he was somehow lost as to what to do in this situation. His mum had never mentioned anything like that, but then again, she had died years before he could really get advice for dating from her. He never wanted to look at his dad for advice, considering he was a philanderer and a half.
He then frowned as he spotted Lynn going over to the Slytherin table instead of her own, and sit down across from a blond kid from her year. What the heck was up with that? He personally didn't have a problem with Slytherins in general, considering his family tree was chock-full of them, but the kid to him seemed shady. Like he was just waiting for something sometimes, at least his opinion. If Lynn was trying to be friendly, he couldn't fault her, but still. He shifted, shaking his head and deciding to ignore it for now and interrogate his sister later about it. Or have Minnie do it. Lynn would probably be more willing to talk to Minnie rather than Zeph about boys.

Siobhan'Hannah'Grey Hufflepuff │ Third Year │ Thirteen Years Old │ Single
Hannah was excited to see the year come to an end, as any normal kid would be. She hadn't expected her classes to be so much work, though seeing the homework load Linny had at any given moment, she should have had some clue, but that was the way things went. Now, all she had to look forward to was the feast, a long train ride home, and then the infinite possibilities which was summer holiday. She was already mostly packed, her trunk nearly ready to be loaded onto the train, however, she received a gift today from her cousin which she had to take good care of.
Curled up in the palm of her hand was a small ball of black and white tabby fluff, the kitten which Linny rescued from the Transfiguration OWL, and presented to her as a gift. She was given the story behind what perils the little fellow potentially faced, and how, in two years, she would be likely be faced with the prospect of putting one of his little friends in similar peril if she weren't equal to the task. Hannah sighed, her cousin was always good for a bit of drama like that, but she got the point: she needed to be confident in her Transfigurations, or risk Vanishing half a kitten. That last thought was enough to make her shudder in horror.
The Third Year was dressed almost casually, a gray pleated skirt with a dress shirt and loosely tied school tie, paired up with a bright yellow 'Puff Pride' shirt she'd made and a comfortable pair of sneakers. School was basically done, and Hannah saw no reason not to start relaxing; it wasn't like she were a freakin' Prefect or something.
As she arrived at her table, she spotted Cora all the way at the end of the table, as though she'd been exiled or something. "Hi, Cora," she said cheerfully, as she approached her friend. "Are you okay?" Her new feline friend added in a yawn and a tiny plaintive cry to the conversation.
Levi looked to Zeph as he spoke, his cheeks turning a bright red as a chuckle escaped from his lips. He hadn't meant to laugh, but it had just gotten out. His friend asking him for advice was just a humorous concept. Although since he figured this was a serious matter, he cleared his throat and looked over at Cora--who was now joined by another girl--then back at Zeph. He didn't want to just shrug his shoulders, but he didn't really know. "Well, um, uh.. Hm. Maybe be honest to her about what you did? Don't beat around the bush or anything. I mean, if it's really bad then that might make it worse, but she might understand. I'm guessing she's still upset cause you rejected her?" Sometimes he wished he had stuff like that to worry about, but then he'd remind himself he didn't need that kind of drama in his life.

Rider skipped into the Great Hall, eager for the summer break. She wouldn't get to see her friends as much, but she missed her parents. And she could still see them. Besides, this would be her last real carefree summer. Once they came back, she'd be hitting the books hard to study for Newts on top of being the captain of the Quidditch team. And after that was graduation and real life. Rider knew what she wanted to do after graduation though, so she was a step above the rest. Sitting down, she saved the seat to her side, like she always did, for Lyall, waiting for the goofy boy to join her.

Lyall walked into the Great Hall, humming happily. Today marked one of his favorite days in the school year, and meant he was only a day away from seeing his parents again. He missed them terribly, after all. Perhaps he'd host his friends over... but this time pick a week he wouldn't be a drooling mess. Or maybe they'd all go to Tori's, Rider's, or maybe even Addy or Pru's house for a day or two. He doubted on either of the other two, given that they seemed rather fond of their alone time lately. Maybe they just really needed to talk with one another... or had an epic tournament of dominoes! With his train of thought far derailed, Lyall wasn't paying much attention, which led him to trip on his own feet and fall to the floor with a loud yelp. After a moment of searching the floor with his hands, he pushed his glasses back on his nose and scurried to his usual seat, not noticing the crack running along the edge of his lenses. "Hi Rider!"

Rider had been watching the people filing in until she saw Lyall come in. The fluttering in her stomach started as she watched him walking towards the table, but that all stopped when he tripped. She wanted to jump up and help him, but he was quickly back on his feet. The girl shook her head, watching the adorable goofus until he joined her at the table. She opened her mouth to greet him, but noticed the crack in his lens. "Oh, Lyall, you cracked your lens. Here," she said, then tapped his glasses with her finger. Using wandless magic, she easily repaired the crack. Then she smiled at him and said, "Be careful next time, okay?"

The moment Cordelia saw Zephyros walk into the Great Hall, she narrowed her eyes and looked away. Summer break was going to be a good thing. It would give her a chance to stop thinking about him and move on. Hannah’s perky voice greeted the fourth year, which caused her to look up. “Oh, my gosh! Your kitten is so cute!” she exclaimed as soon as she saw it curled up in the palm of the third year’s hand. Seeing the adorable animal almost made her forget what she was so upset about until Hannah asked if she was okay. Oh, right.. Cora slumped back down in her seat. “If my heart being torn out means I’m still okay, then yes. I’m okay.” She was sure Hannah had heard about what happened. The whole school probably heard about what happened by now.
Cordelia looked up into Hannah’s eyes. “What’s wrong with me? Why doesn’t Zeph like me?” she asked in a hushed tone to prevent others around them from hearing. The boy was basically perfect. He probably didn’t like Cora because she wasn’t. “Is it ‘cause I’m too loud? Or talk too much? Or stupid? Or.. am I ugly?” What if it was because she was ugly? No boy wants to date an ugly girl. That had to be it. How could she have never noticed before? Quickly, Cordelia grabbed a spoon and held it up in front of her to look at her reflection. Due to the spoon’s convex shape, it made her nose look large. “Oh my gosh. I am ugly!”

"Thanks," Hannah said with a bit of a giggle, "Linny rescued him and gave him to me a little bit ago. I still have to figure out what to name him." When her friend mentioned having her heart ripped out, Hannah sat down beside her, and set her kitten in her lap to take a nap, before giving Cora a hug. She knew Cora had been interested in the older Hufflepuff, but hadn't tried to do anything about it, until recently ... apparently, and it hadn't end well.
"There's nothing wrong with you, Cora, you're none of those things," said the outgoing Third Year encouragingly, "and you're not ugly, and spoons make terrible mirrors." She could understand Cora's interest in Zeph: he was cute, really cute, and a brilliant Beater. Heck, she'd hoped he might take an interest in her, but maybe it was as well if he hadn't; romance and Bludgers were not a good mix. "He couldn't possibly not like you, Cora, but maybe he just doesn't see you in the way you're hoping. You know, as a friend, just not a girlfriend."
Lyall looked at Rider, his usual goofy grin sitting upon his face. Rider fixed his glasses, and the boy blinked rapidly. "Oh! Thank you! I didn't even see the break! You're so sweet!" He bounced a bit in his seat, excited for dinner. Rider warned to be careful, and the boy nodded. "I'll do my best, alright? Just for you. And if I do fall, I'll make sure you're near to help!" He smiled brighter, then used a sweater sleeve to wipe at his glasses. They were a bit dusty. "So what are our plans for this summer? Surely something together. Maybe we can stay over at someone's house. I promise not to be a bother this time!" He nodded, thinking that their last stay over had been because he'd gotten his wisdom teeth out and was delirious.
