Nice as it was to imagine something better for the two of them. He knew it was likely better to leave everything as it was. After all, he didn't know how long Abel was planning to stay here, and he certainly didn't want to do the whole back and forth long distance thing either. Given his travel history, he wasn't even sure if he would be able to get another travel visa so easily. Even if he could, it would takes at a time to prepare and overall it sounded exhausting. He didn't know if Abel be willing to go through with all of that for the sake of a relationship.

Jakob continued to make small talk with him and told about his mundane life. There really wasn't much to say on the matter. He was sure whatever gang Abel was dealing with was far more exciting. But it was what he had chosen for himself. No taking it back now. When the man followed up with another question, he gave him a slight shrug. "Boring in the way that I'm not really sure he had any hobbies. In the four dates we went on, all he talked about was his uni major and this upcoming program. That was it, I never learned anything else about him." he replied. Jakob smiled and shook his head a little. He understood being excited for higher education goals. He once thought that would be the right path for himself. But even so, as excited as he was, he still liked things outside of school. He still listened to music, he still liked going to clubs, meeting people. His life didn't get put on hold just because he was a student. Perhaps that the problem. Maybe if he had put those other interests aside he could have a degree or two by now.

The idea of a long distance relationship didn't sound appealing to him. However it seemed as if that's what they had though in friend terms. He couldn't imagine a more romantic relationship that was long distance. The thought of such a thing sounded as if it wouldn't last long. Abel couldn't promise a faithful relationship either nor would he expect it in the vice versa.

Questioning Miguel, he found his response amusing. It was almost laughable. "Mm, yeah does sound boring…Intelligence is great and all but can only get you so far…" Abel replied as he smiled back. "Well besides Mr. Boring, has there been anyone else to catch your eye?" He asked hoping Miguel wasn't just working. Abel hoped he'd been having some fun mixed in.

He supposed that their friendship was similar to a long distance relationship. The only real difference was he didn't get to whine about how Abel never came out to see him. Even if they were in a more romantic relationship, he didn't see it working out between them. He could never expect Abel to remain faithful nor could he do the same. After all, they both knew how disastrously that went while he was with Kieran. While he hadn't cheated on the man that often, it was enough to cause trouble between them. It was only towards the end of their relationship that Kieran had briefly contemplated on them being in an open relationship but it never went anywhere after that. There were a lot of things they had discussed that never seemed to pan out.

Jakob continued to answer the man's question, filling him in about his last failed attempt at a relationship. He could have probably tolerated the guy being a little nerdy and excited about his higher education, if he just told him something that wasn't school related. Beside him, Abel joked and smiled at him. As the male continued to question him, he gave him a shrug. "Not really. It's been busy down at the pub lately. I think it's been maybe two...no, three weeks since I went out." he replied honestly. Jakob did try to get out when he could. He wasn't a complete shut-in, not yet anyway. He just hadn't had the time to find the balance between work, fun, and sleep. "What about you? Anyone new in your life?" he asked curiously.

Teasing Miguel, he listened as he soon spoke. Abel could understand, he hadn't been mister social either. He'd been busy but also saw the idea as boring by himself. Abel heard Miguel question him about his own social life. He shook his head, "Sure, what with all my free time too." Abel teased as he shifted in his seat to grab his coffee. He took another sip before setting it down.

Jakob didn't mind the males' teasing. It was good to have something to laugh about after feeling so awful earlier. Despite his normally grumpy attitude, Abel had always been able to cheer him up. It was one of the things he liked about him. After answering his question, he went to turn it back on him. He smirked as Abel shook his head and teased him again. "Oh you poor thing." he teased back. Jakob sat quiet a moment while Abel grabbed for his mug again and took another sip. "How come you never hired more people?" he asked curiously. "Every other boss out there seems to be surrounded by a small army. But for as long as I've known you, it's only been you and Kieran."

Unlike Miguel, he wasn't made for relationships. However he hadn't bothered with seeking out short term intimacy for a night either. Abel could blame it on being busy; it was easier that way. He listened as Miguel teased him back. Abel smiled at his words as he took a sip of his coffee before putting it back down. He listened as Miguel questioned him, surprised by it. Abel knew he wasn't like the others such as Cornelius but he was hardly unarmed. "Mm, just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there…I have a few people whom are entrusted to me…However I chose to keep them at a distance that way it won't matter in the end if I'm betrayed by them…" He responded as he kept it brief. Abel preferred to keep his distance, he'd learn to not trust others early on in life. He hadn't exactly woken up one day and decided to be a mobster.

He'd never tried to give it much thought about how relationships worked for Abel. He knew long-term was out and assumed that he had someone he saw whenever it pleased him. Whether that person was the same every time the need struck wasn't for him to say. It was almost like a forbidden topic and he was fine with it. As they teased one another, the topic of him being busy dragged out his curiosity. He'd always known that Abel was unlike any other mob boss he had come across. Getting to know him through the years hadn't really absolved that curiosity. Jakob watched as Abel set his mug down and seemed to be choosing his words carefully. He was surprised to learn that Abel did indeed have others working for him, they simply weren't as in plain sight like the armies of other mob bosses. "So in other words, you're still as anti-social as ever and don't play well with others." he teased lightly. In his own way, Jakob could understand not wanting to flocked around people all the time, even if it was for his own good. He recalled how suffocating it had been living in Cornelius's house. There were always people crowding every room and even outside the house. Meeting Abel and Kieran, while it had been apart of the job, they'd saved him from that crowded house. He hated thinking that if not for them, he would still be trapped inside that house, forced to do another man's dirty work.

Being antisocial was putting it mildly. He merely just didn't trust others. Abel preferred to keep his distance so it was easier to not get hurt. He trusted few and only possibly could count them on one hand. It was the same for intimacy. Abel didn't allow himself to get too attached. In his line of work, he had too many enemies. Giving Miguel a carefully worded sentence, he couldn't help himself. He listened as Miguel soon teased him. Abel smiled, "But of course." He responded in a teasing tone.

It wasn't hard to imagine that Abel would want to keep his distance from others, especially romantic partners. Given his role and status among other local gangs, it really wasn't the best. At least while he was here he could relax a little. While Jakob wasn't entirely familiar with all of Abel's enemies and allies, he liked to think at least on an international level he wouldn't have to worry as much. Jakob laughed softly as the male teased him again. "And yet you still came all this way just to check up on me." he said, scooting closer. Feeling bold, Jakob leaned against him slightly. He had missed this, their banters and easy conversation. He was going to miss Abel when he had to go home again.

As far as he knew, he didn't have enemies in Germany. Though that could always change. Abel teased Miguel listening as he laughed, soon teasing him. He felt him shift on the couch coming closer until he leaned against him. Abel had kept his distance a little though Miguel was making it hard. "Would you rather I hadn't?" He asked curiously though he knew the answer.

No doubt that if Abel tried hard enough he very easily make some new enemies while he was in Germany. Though he supposed that being said the opposite could also be true. He was sure it wouldn't be too hard to stumble upon a local gang, share a few beers, and do whatever else Abel did to win people over to his side. But seeing as this wasn't a business trip, why bother. Jakob laughed as they continued to tease one another. He teased him again and dared to invade the man's space. He had noticed how Abel seemed to be avoiding him in the physical sense and didn't know why. They had been pretty touchy in the past, a couple of times Abel even initiated. When the man questioned him, he shook his head. "After Kieran left, I was thinking how much I wished you were here. he replied softly. Although it was an inconvenience, he was glad that Abel was here. His very presence helped put him at ease.

Indeed Abel was avoiding contact with Miguel. He couldn't help himself. Abel had been happy for the hug as he was greeted. However he craved it too much. He would likely surround himself in Miguel if given the chance. True he had previously initiated the intimacy but he didn't want for what he couldn't have. Also Miguel was in an unstable moment, he'd only be taking advantage if he did. He listened as Miguel spoke as he had questioned him. "Why?" Abel asked curiously as he sat there.

Jakob didn't really see the need for them to avoid one another. He thought it was fine to just sit around and talk like the old days. He recalled the number times he would lean against him and how calming it was. He didn't know if Abel felt the same. He'd never so much as shoved him away, though he did sometimes leave without saying anything. He didn't think right now would be one of those times. Beside him, Abel questioned him curiously. Jakob smiled sadly and looked down at his hands. "Cause you were always there for me when things got bad with him." he replied. "It didn't matter if it was after a fight or that time he left me on the side of the road. You would let me come over and we'd be sitting just like this." Jakob had lost count of the number of times he intruded on Abel when he was in a relationship crisis. No matter how petty or annoying he was, the man would comfort him, offer words of advice, or even scold him for not seeing things from Kieran's perspective. Abel cared when he didn't feel like anyone would care about him or his problems.

Abel wasn't bothered by Miguel leaning against him, he welcomed it. He couldn't help questioning Miguel, watching as he soon looked down at his hands as he responded. Abel reached down to take one of Miguel's hands. "Well then, I'm happy to oblige." He responded knowing Kirean wasn't the best when it came to relationships. Abel wasn't either though he had more sense when he wanted.

Using Abel any time he was in a bind wasn't the best way of showing that cared for him. But it was thanks to those moments that he'd been able to get past the monster he initially thought him to be. No doubt Abel could be cruel and absolutely lethal when he wanted to be. Still, Jackob preferred when he was warm and gentle like this. As he spoke, the male took his hand into his own. Jakob smiled to himself. "Thank you." he said. He didn't know where things would go from here with Kieran. If the man had come to him like a decent person, instead of following him home and making threats maybe he could have responded to him better. Maybe they could have had a real conversation. Now he wasn't so sure, he didn't know how to fix it or if Kieran even wanted to.
