Alaine didn't like to be involved with nice people. Nice people tended to want things out of him. His fans usually wanted his body. His employees usually wanted money. And in the business world, everyone wanted his power. So it was with good reason he avoided "nice" people. He'd hardly met a single nice person that didn't want something out of him. Even Liam wasn't a nice person in the end. Alaine took another pull from his cigarette as the smile slipped from his lips and he dared ask the very thing that had been buzzing in his mind. He watched Jepsen curiously. He seemed amused by his words. Alaine scoffed as he was teased and reached forward to tap his cigarette against the ashtray. "Yeah right," he said sarcastically. Picking up his coffee mug, he took a sip. The coffee was warm, black, and bitter just how he liked it. "If you haven't noticed I don't trust easy.....If it's at all possible I think I trust even less after what happened with Liam." Alaine paused for a moment after speaking. It was the first time, today, he'd said his name out loud after the break-up. He hated the aching in his heart when he thought of him. Stupid Liam, he thought bitterly. Picking up his mug, he took another sip. "So what are you up to today?" he asked, quickly changing the subject.

Jepsen wasn’t bothered by the fact that Ally was worried about his behavior. He liked Ally, but just because he was being nice didn’t mean he was going to hurt him. Jepsen could understand Ally’s worry. He had already been hurt by someone he thought loved him. He wasn’t going to proclaim he was never hurt him, but he was at least willing to try and prove Ally wrong. Jepsen laughed softly as Ally scoffed at his words. He watched as Ally tapped the ashes off his cigarette then grabbed his coffee. Jepsen took a sip of his own bitter sweet coffee with sugar and cream. He was not a fan of drinking it straight up, he needed flavor. Jepsen listened as Ally spoke, nodding at his words. He could understand not trusting him, but he wasn’t pretending to be nice. Jepsen didn’t hate Ally, in fact he actually liked him. To what point, he wasn’t sure but if he didn’t like Ally, he wouldn’t have held him and let him cry all over his shirt. ”I understand, but I’m not forcing you to trust me, just have an open mind that not every guy is out to hurt you.” Jepsen spoke sincerely as he took one last puff from his cigarette before stubbing it out in the ashtray on the table between them. He shrugged lightly as Ally spoke about his day. ”Not sure, might go shopping for some clothes, haven’t really decided what my day will be like, you??” Jepsen spoke asking curiously what Ally had in mind for his day.

Jepsen didn’t mind if Allly didn’t trust him. After all it wasn’t as if he was expecting him to. He also wasn’t going to change his behavior to suit Ally either. Jepsen was being himself and if that seemed odd than so be it. He was not going to act like someone he wasn’t. Jepsen didn’t see the need to be rude or mean. He much preferred to be kind, though he could be mean if he wanted to. However he didn’t think that’s what Ally needed right now. If anything, it seemed like he needed a friend. Jepsen wasn’t sure if Ally was open to the idea, but he could try. Although he didn’t expect it much, especially seeing as he barely knew the man, who was his boss.
He hadn’t been in New York for very long, perhaps a few months. Jepsen saw nothing wrong with having his boss as a friend, but perhaps it seemed odd. He didn’t know, as he didn’t have many friends. As he sat there he watched as Ally pulled his phone from his pocket. Jepsen took note of the cracked glass and couldn’t help but smirk lightly. ”Some anger.” He spoke laughing softly, as he teased Ally. ”Perhaps a new phone will do you some good.” Jepsen spoke honestly as he nodded at his own words. He smiled at Ally, ”Paperwork, sounds boring.” Jepsen never liked paperwork, not even homework. He hated the idea of it, though he enjoyed reading. Jepsen was the type of child, who enjoyed book reports, but that was only because he was home schooled, by his mother.

Maybe Jepsen wasn't trying to screw him over. It wasn't his fault he was used to meeting douche bags. Alaine wasn't expecting the male to change his behavior. Even if he wasn't one hundred percent on board with him yet. It didn't mean they couldn't still sit here, have a nice meal, and talk. If anything he just preferred that Jepsen be himself, rather than what he thought he might want him to be. He was so tired of being kissing his a** and being fake. It was refreshing to just be around someone who was genuine. He wasn't sure if they could be friends, but for now acquaintances would be a nice start.
Puling out his phone, he was a bit embarrassed to show what he had done. It was, of course, done out of anger and hurt. But that didn't excuse his actions. Alaine pouted as the male laughed and teased him. "Okay, so maybe a lot of anger. Either way, it's Liam's fault. He pissed off when he called last night." he replied. As the male continued to speak, he nodded quietly. A new phone, hell maybe even a new phone number would do him some good. As he thought about it, maybe not. He'd have to tell Sam, their clients, the employees. No, no, too much of a hassle. Alaine then rolled his eyes as Jepsen spoke again. "Well, it's a good thing you aren't in charge then." he replied. It was true though, paperwork wasn't the most exciting part of his work. But it was needed to be done. Everyday they were met with some new assignment that needed to be added to their database. Whether it was keeping track of paychecks in quick books, their daily spending, or just updating their master log for who they are affiliated with. Running a club was all fun and games on the outside. But behind closed doors, there was a lot of boring stuff that needed to be done to keep things going.
