→ centaur | forbidden forest at hogwarts | scotland → ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶
Hadar let himself fall towards the end of the herd as the group set off. Most of the older centaurs liked to lead with Ammar at the front, but Hadar had never been interested in leading - and besides, he prided himself on still being strong enough to carry all his own belongings despite his injury. The weight of the quiver on his back was a comforting one as he trotted and listened to the Forest around him: so many chirps, so many clicks and croaks and caws. One could live to be as old as Hadar was and still know next to nothing about the Forest's countless denizens.
In comparison, the chatter of the younger centaurs seemed meaningless. They were all still so full of adventure, of spirit and of love, of the things that made them tie themselves to the earth instead of searching for the sky. Despite himself, Hadar smiled slightly, and he waited patiently for some of the foals to run ahead of him so he could keep an eye on them.

"Two screams?" Sagittarius inquired. "I heard nothing." She was the type to sleep through a thunderstorm. Sleeping like a dead log was the best type of sleep, though it was dangerous to do so in the middle of the forest. Well, Sagi was positive that Imara would wake her up when the herd is in danger, even if it meant that she would step on her to end her slumber.
"Exciting? Maybe? I'll make sure that happens," Sagi said as she ran back to her spot and gathered her belongings, which wasn't much, and tied them to herself. "Course I will," she replied, already running ahead at full speed.

☾ Serallius ☽ A roaming centaur... ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓
Serallius got up, still slightly sleep-deprived from the previous night. Well, he theoretically got enough sleep, but the fact that he kept waking up in the middle of the night prevented him from getting a quality sleep. He sighed as he got up, just in time to hear Ammar's commands.
Ser would carry a fairly light load, since he just recently went through and discarded what he didn't need. Anything extra was just more mass to drag. Once he was done, he began to trek towards in the direction the herd was heading.

Imara laughed at Sagittarius' response, her giggle ringing loud and clear. She strapped her belongings down to her core tightly so they would not shift during travel. There could be the possibility of running, which was always a plus for Imara. "Hey! Wait for me!" she exclaimed as Sagi ran off into the forest. She sped off after her, her hair bobbing up and down with every stride. North. She must remember to stay on the path to the north. Finally, she caught up to the red-haired mare. "You're quite the fast runner. Why don't we try to get to the next campground first, eh? Beating everyone else there sounds like fun, doesn't it? And we can pick the absolute best spots to sleep." she said, smiling like a mischievous child. Sagi always brought out her inner foal. It made life more exciting, and she enjoyed it.

Branin strided along, in the group, not paying attention to what was going on around him. His gaze swapping from the path ahead, to the attractive raven-haired centaur walking nearby. "Serallius, you have a partner?" he asked, allowing the double meaning to show through his words. He chuckled and smiled at the male. He really is quite attractive. he thought as he looked at the centaur. He himself was carrying his bow and arrows, as well as a packet of food and an extra vest. He smiled as he shook out his head of blonde hair. "You need any help with your things?" he inquired as he looked at the boy.

((I think one more of Ammar's post after this one and we'll reach the new sleeping grounds, just fyi)) ”Once an heir, now a leader. I only hope I can do as well as my father wanted...”The younger centaurs were in good moods today, Ammar noted as Imara and Sagittarius both sped ahead of the group. He kept his ears perked, in case of any sign of trouble. The weight on him seemed to get heavier and heavier with each step, but he simply grunted and hoisted the objects more securely onto his body. This would be a long voyage for him, but he needed to carry all these things. He was helping the elderly centaurs who couldn't very well carry all the heavy furs and weapons. It was a test, so to speak, of how well he performed as a leader. Sweat began to form on his brow, but he showed no signs of faltering.
There was a steady pace that he had developed, swerving around objects in his path, or stepping over them if he could. The sound of everyone's hooves padding the ground was rhythmic and echoed through the forest. The birds had begun to chirp and calls were being made by unknown creatures. The rain clouds that had loomed a few hours ago had not graced the Forest, but a gust of wind shook the trees above their heads. It would be a cold day today, Ammar noted.
He looked around at his surroundings, inspecting the condition that everyone was in. The younger foals either clung to their mothers, terrified of what lurked around them, or jovially pranced around the herd, swerving through legs and between bodies, playing chasing games. It made Ammar smile.
They were getting close. He had been here before. That's how he knew that there had been a place to relocate from the beginning. And it was a perfect location too. Very serene, very beautiful. There were flowers every where in this clearing. He was sure that the herd would like this new place. He rubbed the sweat off from his forehead with the back of his hand and arm. Otherwise the trek was for nothing, he conceded, hoisting the objects once again.

Vita had been wandering the forest all day long yesterday, quietly keeping to herself. She didn't think anyone would be overly worried about her absence. Well, maybe her parents. But they knew she could take care of herself. Oddly enough, one of the most dangerous creatures in the forest was a friend of hers. Not that the rest of her herd knew this, though.
Linar, a male Acromantula and very old son of Mosag, reached out to Vita through a small opening in a wall of the sink hole and tapped her side. The thick bristles on his long leg poked into her hide, tickling her. Vita woke up laughing, wiggling and writhing, trying to get away. "Alright, alright! I'm awake!", she shouted, scrambling to her feet. After calming down, she shook off the dust from her hair and skin, stretching out kinks in her back and legs and looked around. This particular sunken cave was the secret hide-away of Vita's and her grandfather. He had shown it, and Linar, to her when she was very young. They had taken a little getting used to, her and the spider. Linar had demanded she prove her worth to him. She'd tried tests of speed, strength, marksmanship; nothing seemed to impress him. Until, when they were taking a break from all of her hard work, her grandfather brought out a harp and Vita began to hum. The spider had been fascinated. He still was in fact. She had to sing at least once each time she came to the cave.
Having finished stretching and dusting herself off, Vita glanced back to Linar through the opening. It wasn't even large enough for her to pass through, let alone Linar's huge body. Beyond it was his nest. "It is dawn, little one. And I'm sure your herd is missing you." "Maybe, but they won't be too worried. I'm old enough to go out on my own. I'll see you again soon, my friend.", and with that parting comment, Vita traveled through a short, water-logged cavern, past a dark waterfall, down the draining stream, and out the mouth of the cave. It was a bit of a trek, but that's what made it a good secret spot. No one would find it unless they looked for it.
Vita cantered briskly through the forest, toward where the herd had been bedding when she last saw them. But when she got there, no one was around. "Hello?", she called, though she didn't really expect an answer. All the very few things she had left in the clearing were still in their original spot, though neatly packed up. Most likely by her father so she'd know that they had moved while she had been away. The female centaur bent and picked it up, slinging it up to rest on her lower half's back and began to follow in the hoove-steps of her herd northward.
(( OOC: I'll catch up with the herd in my next post. ))

You think me weak? Weak is for children. Her few belonging slung across her back and shoulders, Refera plodded along beside Llamrei. The two hung towards the rear, as Refera at least felt no need to engage in the wild conversation nor felt an fear of the forest. She spied Serallius and Branin up ahead, conversing happily. While she hardly knew Branin, she did know Serallius, and admired the way his lithe body trotted through the forest. She ached to catch up with him, and travel with him, but he had his own partner, and she had hers. With that though, she finally remembered the younger mare by her side, and looked up an Llamrei. Although Llamrei was about six years younger, she still stood quite a bit taller then Refera. Most everyone did. "Are you looking forward to our new resting place, Llamrei? I am. I do love a good adventure!" When you're facing my arrow, Call me weak again. Age: 23 | Relationship Status: Single | Injuries/Illnesses: None

"Course I am," Sagittarius said. "I take pride in my speed, after all." She constantly set herself goals, improving her endurance and agility as she runs through the forest, hoping to beat the strongest of the strong. She smirked, feeling the wind in her face. "New sleeping ground, here we come!"

"No partner yet," Serallius replied. Only Ser would be observant to the details of the forest, but completely ignore the second meaning in Branin's words. "My things aren't too heavy. I'll manage." Back when Serallius wasn't part of any herd, he was used to traveling light, with just enough goods and furs to last him awhile. Now that he was in the herd, he had to pack extra to share, just in case. He didn't mind though.

Branin raised an eyebrow and shifted closer to the raven haired male. "Well, a strong stallion like you, I shouldn't have bothered asking." he said with a wink. His eyes studied the male's face. Did he even notice what I meant. he thought as he looked at the centaur.

♦ ♥ ♣ ♠ ♦ ♥ ♣ ♠ Jack casually sauntered into the forest, with his hands in his pockets, as per usual. He was whistling a tune to himself, trying to keep from getting too bored from this jaunt through the forest. He honestly doubted that there would be anything of value in here that the Headmistress would want to find out, but he had to do his job. Werewolf or not, Jack had to say he tried to go in and find something to "investigate the case". He laughed to himself as he hopped down into a little ditch and climbed out. Boy, he knew how to crack himself up...
He glanced around, smiling. The forest looked beautiful, but he couldn't seem to keep his eyes open for some reason and he kept yawning. He had had a long night, but he was never this tired. Perhaps it was from being on edge with that werewolf, Jack thought as he jumped over a log with ease. But he had been on edge before and not been drained... what was so different about this time?
Jack blinked and thought again about how beautiful the forest was around him. Adjusting his tie, he sniffed his nose. Was that something burning? Jack looked around warily, not finding any fires nearby. Following his nose, he looked down where his hand was still on his tie. A ray of sun was reflecting his pale skin and smoking it. Jack screamed and jumped back, making sure to avoid any rays of sun that managed to peak through the trees. He had been wrong! Jack didn't have a few hours, he had only one, and that was long enough for him to get down to the forest's edge, but not back.
The sun was out already, and Jack couldn't go back.
"Well, damn," he sighed, leaning against a tree and looking up at the canopy above him. He was stuck there for the entire day. Nothing to do now but sit and wait.♦ ♥ ♣ ♠ ♦ ♥ ♣ ♠ Currently...What I'm thinking: Damn. What I'm doing: Chilling Who I'm with: Myself Where I am: Forbidden Forest

Mood: Calm Thoughts: .... With: Refera Location: The Forbidden Forest "I g-guess. The old p-place was n-nice. I h-hope t-this one is t-too." Llamrei said simply, admiring the beauty of the forest around her. The sun's rays illuminated everything. "I d-don't k-know about adventures t-though." she added a bit worriedly. Adventures meant danger, didn't they? "The woods are lovely, dark, and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep."

Hadar continued to travel in silence, enjoying the mingled music of birdsong and crushed leaves and centaur chatter. He would've liked someone of his own to talk to, but there was no point in longing for such selfish, earthly, little things - it had been a long time since those things had been of any importance to Hadar. His eyes softened when he saw Branin speaking to Serallius some ways ahead: he'd wanted a partner too once, but between one thing and another, nothing had ever happened.
And now he was old, and he supposed nothing ever would. There was a sort of peace in knowing that, and that was as much thought as Hadar would pay to the matter. He had other things to pursue that made him content, and when he died, he would leave no one distraught.
Lost in thought, he stumbled over a particularly gnarled tree root, which jolted him back to his senses. He quickly straightened himself, lifting his head with dignity and ignoring the sudden jabs of pain to his wounded leg. Like all centaurs, Hadar had his fair share of pride, and he refused to let his agony show to the rest of the herd.
