Slip out the back before they know you were there
and at the worst you'll see nobody cares,
you don't want to be around when it all goes down...

William Dante Nott the Third

Adjudicating, all of them. He slithered backwards, recoiling from the damage that had been done, and in all of his years of blissful ignorance and obsequious discretion, it shattered with one fell swoop. Their leer was what had hurt the most- like a stab in the back from the dearest and closest friend. The insinuation rose to his throat, and fermented, thickening like a cement until his vocal chords had been rendered useless. He sought to capture the gazes, of all of them. Glittering bold hues of condemning emeralds, or wistful sapphires, of royal auburn and burnt chestnut, he sought to meet them all with his own eyes of roaring gold, like spitfire from the heavens. The narrow accusation was in his eyes—he was once like them, after all. So sure of his status, so proud of his heritage, so benign in his own pitiful scoff of disgust, because, he too, sat and watched on with accusing eyes from belittling their house.

But what was their house? If not ever broken?

They would learn, he would watch and see and be sure of it. As his daring slit eyes of gold honed in on each target, upon first years, they will know the test of patience, and they too, will realize just how much they’ve only wished that Tay could have gotten that much farther.

One day, they’ll all make the same unconscious decision he had made, but if he could have taken it all back, he would.

Nothing had been worse, he realized. Bringing this shame upon his house—this shame that he so feverishly had fled from, desperate to be wary of its hungry and greedy beady little eyes. He never would have been so brash, so brazen as to strike in the center of the feast, at the heart of the night, and in such a crowd. No, he would always wait, wait until the last moment where he could strike from the shadows, sank venom to course through without ever leaving a moment to wonder what had happened.

But now, now he was plagued. And the deep, heavy set bags under his eyes told the whispering tale of the demon that haunted beneath. He never would have provoked such an attack, but Roi would, and had. Roi cared little for the damages done, for chaos, for caterwauling tales of spiteful entity. And, Tay would forever be left in the dark, blindly piecing together the remnants of his own shatterd life.

But the depth of his attention had wavered, meandered away from those accusing eyes that will one day, understand the truth to this shame, and reared to meet the eyes of the man storming across the great hall. Dark of skin, he was, like boiled leather left too long in licking flames, and as he strode, a deeply resonating vibrancy of color burst to life upon his boiled skin, turning glyphs into glowing scripture. Their eyes met for the moment, long enough for Tay to feel an ominous dread build up in his throat before forcibly gyrating his attention back to table around him. Back to the vultures overhead, waiting to pick apart the carcass of his demise, beaks gnawing at the festering flesh of what was left behind from the altercation. Those dead set eyes spoke truths like none could dare imagine, whispering torment, and poison, and anguish, but most of all, witnessing the death, and destruction, and the cold skeletal finger, weaving it’s bones into the spines of those he sought out, until the trickling bone spun, rising hair to stand on end. The depth of his stare, befell upon de la Frontera, a first year, whom he was sure he would have to acquaint himself with.

Inari made her way down the long path between the tables. Before she reached the boys fighting, one of the older students separated the boys and went on with his business. Well at least he'd done something unlike the prefects. She was no longer in such a good mood, though she was a bit concerned for William. As she reached the table it seemed it had calmed down some."Well Well, It must be the starting feast since my house has decided once again to make a ruckus and shame us. Mr. Anderson. Mr. Nott. I'm sad to say this before the year has really even started but 30 points from slytherin. Now you will all return to the feast as normal. You will remember you have manners and you will do my house proud, or you will not be having such a pleasant conversation the next time." She explained in her authoritative tone."Mr. Nott if you would please follow me into the hall for a moment." She added turning on her heel, she walked out of the great hall.

Slytherin, Third Year

User Image Inside, Jess anger still burned from Cosette this time, One of these days Cosette... Briefly, Jess stared daggers Cosette, but the pale redhead mentally brushed those thoughts aside. Turning her attention to Annabelle, Jess took a long breath and sighed, "Are you alright, Belle? The boys didn't hurt you, I hope."

She blinked, and barely had even the time do so. Her vision spun, and the intermingled mess of dull and mix matched color left her world on fire as she witnessed the destruction at hand, close up. She was seated right across from the two, and had nearly been dragged into the altercation due to her sheer position, but so suddenly, a presence had lifted her out of her seat and dragged her from the building turmoil. She had so much barely gasped with a sharp intake of oxygen, her hand tightening around the hand that had saved her without conscious thought.

It took a moment before Belle had realized what had gone on, and before she could realize it, a professor had already marched her way towards them, and deducted house points Belle would be determined to make up in any way possible. Suddenly, she remembered the warmth from the hand wrapped in her own and veered to meet Jessica. ”Yes, I’m fine, thank you.” She breathed, nearly above a whisper as her gaze blinked back to reality and she released her grip on Jessica.

”For Circe’s sake,” she murmured shaking her head and then taking her seat once more, motioning for Jessica to sit beside her. ”Thank you, I can’t believe I just froze like that, I could have gotten mauled.” Of course she had over exaggerated, but she was just as sincere in any case.

Slytherin, Third Year

User Image Jess sat down beside Annabelle nodding in agreement, "There are levels of hate, and then.... Tay and Drake despise each other with a passion. Still, the physical attack by Tay is highly unusual. And you are quite welcome, Belle. Some of us girls will have to stick together to prevent being mauled."

Jess smiled warmly at Annabelle, showing that she was half joking.

Arnez Antonio Cesare de la Frontera
First Year - Slytherin

User Image

Arnez could feel the burning gaze of Tay but the plate before him became slightly, and Arnez was too concerned with refilling it. He knew Tay heard him, and he wasn't remorseful of his comments in the least. He wanted to end the drama going on at the Slytherin table, so he remained focused on the task at hand. As he at ate, Arnez pondered what Dante Prince said about being proud of his house and of himself and it made him even more proud to be a part of Slytherin.

The approaching professor drew his attention from his plate, and the announcement of the 30 point deduction drew a large sigh from Arnez. “Once again!?!?” Arnez moaned from his seat as he dropped his head. He went back to his plate and watched as the professor walked out of the Great Hall, and he expected it. Arnez wasn't curious as to what she intended to say, but Arnez knew it was going to be more than a slap on the wrist. He made a mental note of what transpired and of Tay's stare. Loose Cannon. Arnez thought as he finished the rest of his pumpkin juice.

“The other houses need a headstart anyway, right?” Arnez declared to the whole table, if anything to break the ice to those around him. He plotted all the ways they could make up the points, and he was ready to contribute in any way he could.

Rhea Ventura
1st year Slytherin

Rhea's jaw dropped as the hat announced which table she should go to and which house she'd now be with. Slytherin....Slytherin.... she thought to herself, trying to turn on the spark that should be there. Yes she was proud...as it said...and yes she was ambitious....but she had never thought herself to be going with the other cool and collected pure-bloods that went to balls and the such.

As she walked closer to her new house('s table), she stopped as 2 of the boys broke out into a fight. Holding back a laugh, Rhea was reminded of some of her own typical actions, and a smirk donned her face as she finished the gap between the stool and her new place.

Sitting a bit further away from them(not that it matter cause it looked like some professor pulled him out of the great hall anyways as soon as she sat) Rhea eyed up her housemates. Truthfully they did not all look like snobbish richies that her mother had told her all the pure blood families were. Interesting...she pondered to herself, spooning herself a serving of whatever was in front of her, without looking of course. AT the very least, it seems like at least some of these snakes were as passionate as she was, and that would indeed make things fun around here.

> Shin just knew that today was not his day. He banged his head on the table, very unprefect like and groaned. He had got a fighter and worse..he had shamed his brother when he had sat back and done nothing. He decided that to punish him self he would not eat. He did not desearve to live anyway..an ugly beast like him. He was panicing in his mind, thinking that his only family that still pretended like he was alive...would leave him for that. Shin just wanted to vanish. His mother did not even notice him enough to disown him..and that hurt in a way. He sat back, hair in his face, looking away from the head table and not touching any of the food..even though his stomach made it's self known that he was famished. Latly he had been to sick to eat. He did not know his sickness was caused by not eating.
⁈PREFECT⁉

Mood? In thought.
Emotional state? Curios
Physical State? Has not eaten in a few days, so not top notch.

Evangeline Gordon
Slytherin First Year

Evangeline smiled broadly as the hat proclaimed her Slytherin. Her father had been a Slytherin--this was a great start to her career at Hogwarts. As she approached the table, however, an all out brawl broke out. Evie paused and watched in horror. That was not how the proper wizarding youth should conduct themselves! Honestly, were they raised in barns or worse, as Muggles?

To her relief, one of the older Slytherins promptly broke up the fight. Well, at least someone has some propriety! She studied the older student interestedly, wondering who his family was. Behind her, she heard the hat announce Slytherin house again, and another first year walked past her and took a place at the table, apparently unfazed by the incident. Evangeline shook herself off and, after taking a moment to regain her composure, continued forward and took the empty place next to the bright haired girl.

She gave nods to those seated near her. It was a technique she had mastered at her parents' dinner parties--when she was too nervous to talk, a cool nod always looked confident. She helped herself to the food--it looked delicious!--and eyed her tablemates curiously. According to her father, these people would form the basis of her social life not only now, but into the future. I hope they're interesting....

Rhea Ventura
1st year Slytherin

Hearing the bench squeal beneath her, Rhea turned sharply to find it's source only to find a young girl sitting beside her. Excitement immediately flowed through her at the prospect of not only a student who looked to be her age, but a girl! Maybe they could be friends, and talk family stuff, and spells, and duel and do homework together. Pausing a moment to watch her nod to those who sat nearby she took that thought back, perhaps dueling would not be this girl's thing.

Wiping her hands on her napkin and running her hands over her hair to make sure her ponytail didn't have any stray aways, she finally spoke to this mystery girl. "Hi I'm Rhea," her tone obviously louder than the majority of Slytherins, "I'm new here, are you new too? You look like you might be new. Plus you weren't here when I sat so you probably were sorted...or late...though you don't really look like the type of person who makes a habit of being tardy to big events." Stopping to take a small drink from her goblet, she then continued in a more tolerable tone, "Honestly, I had no clue I'd end up in Slytherin, though the students seem to be much livelier than I heard Slytherins would be." At this she shook her head with a silent laughter. "What's your name, I don't think I caught it?"

Drake sighed as he picked himself up. He brushed his robes off and sat back down. "Gryffindor aye," he questioned for a moment then smiled. "Be better that living in a snakes den." He laughed and thought of the spell that changed the color of clothing.

Thering on his finger turned a bright purple as he thought back to half of his summer wodrobe being an almost alarming shade of bright blue. "Cynical my left foot. " He rubed the shark tooth again and thought about how he would get Tay back for his blunder.

He smiled and looked over at Tay. " A full year and you still hit like a girl. Shame, thought you would have traintred a little more considering. But then again guess the fact of the matter is that your so easily blood stained its no fun." he shook his head as he sat back down on the bench. "Worthless Benny. " he muttered and glared at the plate of sushi before him.

It was going to be a long school year.

The hisses in my ear:Time to do my job
What writhes within me: Annoyed
Those entwined with me: Istal, Etheris, Cosette, Dante, the members of my house

"The only worthless thing I see at this table is you, boy. Hold your tongue before I decided to burn your mouth shut." Came a cool voice next to the table. Now standing near the the remaining brawler and the younger students was a tale pale youth. His platinum blond hair was half falling into equally pale eyes though he didn't seem to notice nor care. There was an edge to the oldest Gaunt's eyes this year that hadn't been there before. The summer had been a rough one and he was still shaking off the effects. Though whether or not he truly would was a discussion for later. Instead of following his friends into the hall to begin with Charon had done a minor bit of following, as in the boy who was suddenly so friendly with his little sister. This was not a year for strangers, this was a year for being careful. Charon half wished he hadn't followed though, had those been white wings he saw through a window? He didn't know but Dante didn't need that concept flying around school.

Now he came back down to idiots making a fool of themselves and their house. Sometimes being a Prefect sucked...other times there were benefits.
"Seeing as you seem to be set on disgracing yourself I will be speaking to Professor Evernight to get you set up with some fun detention." He continued watching Dragomare for a sign of any retaliation. It would be an interesting night should the boy continue to press his luck. Turning his gaze on another third year he added to his duties for the night. "Jessica I catch that kind of a look directed at Cosette again and the hospital won't have to worry about your frequent visits anymore." He watched the girl a moment before rolling his neck. A sigh left the seventh year as he tried to settle his mood. Fun times this year already.

"To the rest of our new members, Welcome to Slytherin. I hope this is a good show of what not to do in this house. We have a lot of pride and do not take well to those who disgrace us. I apologize for the gruff first meeting but you can thank those idiots for that. Now onward we go. I am Charon Gaunt and your guide this evening. First years kindly step in line, older students if you want in sorry you're with me too. Let's get out of here shall we?" Charon's smile was a bit disturbingly happy for his mood. Call it what you will but he was the kind of guy who killed while grinning. A small squarish head poked out of his cloak, the rust colored scales pushing lightly against his cheek as he turned. Etheris had returned to the school with her master this year along with Istal. The Gaunt needed their support in this mess and besides, who better to keep an eye out for the goings on at school then a snake whom only one other person could speak too?

We both have our secrets
some darker then others.
I can handle the demons in my head...
as long as you are there to hold me when I wake

Dante caught the look that Jess gave Cosette. He made sure she saw his own expression towards her. His eyes spoke of dark things and rage beyond what anyone would expect. Those eyes promised death if he saw her looking at Cosette in such a way. Holding his composure he turned to look at Charon. He was worried about his friend. The Gaunt had not told him much about his summer and hopefully he would crack later on in the common room or if they went out for a walk. He rose up from his seat and smiled at his cousin as an offer to join him and Cosette on the walk back to the common room. It seemed that Demos had not made many friends. This will soon be fixed.

So far away from knowing where I am going
I am trying hard to find out who I am

They all say that I don't know what I am doing
I say they don't hardly understand

Why can't they remember
What I'll never forget

How these dreams can come undone
When you're young

He had been surprised by the lack of reactions from the table. Only one girl had offered a hello and she had quickly diverted her attention to another boy. Way to make a guy feel welcome. Demos silently watched the proceedings of the sorting and then just as quietly focused on the meal before him. Though the silence wasn't a protest to the lack of attention from anyone. On the contrary he was using it a moment to get to know the going on's of Slytherin house. Apparently this Tay had a short temper. One of the girls near him, Trinity, seemed a bit fake to him but he wasn't certain. She could always sound that way. The white haired who introduced himself as, Ronyo, seemed like an interesting guy.

His pondering over his housemates was quickly interrupted though as a fight suddenly broke out. The smallest Prince was startled to say the least but call him strange, he thought this was a civilized house. Though he was thankful for the fight when the one person he'd been looking for finally arrived, his cousin Dante. A smile came onto Demos' face as he was so happy to see the older Prince. It had been years since they had truly been around each other, to top it off he spotted him almost immediately.
"I'm pleased to be in this house. I was hoping to be in here with you." Demos replied still smiling. When Dante introduced him to his friend he nodded to her as bowing while sitting was a tad difficult. "It's wonderful to meet you too, milady. I shall do my best to bring dishonor to this house nor my family. Pardon me but may I call you Cosette as well?" Demos was taught to never refer to a lady by her first name unless given permission too. His father did his best to make certain his children had proper manners.

Before long though the final member of his cousin's trip appeared and Demos got to meet one of the last members of the Gaunt family. Charon seemed to be in a foul mood to put it lightly though he didn't understand why. There was probably a lot of things he didn't understand yet but there was time to learn, observe and grow. He called for the first years to follow him and like many others Demos climbed to his feet.
"Dante? Do you mind if I walk with you on our way to the common room?" Demos asked after tucking the feather into his journal. He didn't know if his cousin would mind him tagging along but the only way to find out was to ask. Part of him felt a fool for asking so much but part of him wondered how the soon to be graduate would feel about dealing with a first year.

On the crafting table: My new housemates, Dante, Cosette, Charon
The projects in my mind: An interesting start
Whirls and clicks: Curious, excited

As Dante made his way down the row to the end of the table he placed a hand on his cousin's shoulder. "Of course you can walk with me to the common room. I will not abandon my family member on his first day here" he said forcing a gentle smile. With his friends and family he could produce a kind smile, yet a truly gentle smile, the kind reserved for one person, that was one that he would not get back for a long time. Keeping his arm on his shoulder he moved to join Charon. He wanted to be near the more mature students. Speaking of which he glanced back at Cosette. "Come Cosette, we do not want you dragging behind and forced to stand with those who disgrace this house."he said his voice cold yet regal. Pride practically oozed off of each syllable.

Turning back around he smiled again at Demos then looked forward, the smile vanishing almost instantly. It was at this moment that a reality hit him. By now, he and Xenos would have gone off to their spot. He always liked escaping the crowds to see that wonderful angel of his. Yet now...NO!!! His brow wrinkled as his face turned to anger. He would not grow weak, he would not show his emotions, his sadness. He would not let his feelings get in his way any more. He was his own master and he needed no one to lean on. Pride, determination and that ever present pain mixed together in his eyes to form an odd gaze. For any who met it the feeling would be uncomfortable and not many would be able to keep looking at such eyes.

To keep from losing himself he turned to his cousin. "So Demos. It has been long. How is our family faring? All is going well I presume?" he questioned him, hiding his previous emotions well from the first year. Dante had suddenly come into contact with his uncle over the summer and he and his relative started a chain of letters discussing a line of work for Dante. Yet it would not be working for his uncle, but owning his own business, and his uncle working for him. Oh how he loved it. Such a plan would help in his own desires.
