◊ DETERMINED Eric is determined. All during his captivity, he never entirely gave up hope that he was going to get out, and tends to be single-minded in his focus when he needs to be. As a result, when he gets an idea into his head, he rarely lets it go.
◊ PROTECTIVE Likely because of the abuse he suffered during his captivity, he doesn't want to see anyone else suffer like he does. He'll step into fights because he knows he's been through worse, and will quickly throw himself into danger especially if he knows it'll protect Brian.
◊ SUSPICIOUS While at one point in his life Eric was trusting, that disappeared quickly after his kidnapping. He doesn't trust easily, and thinks that people would hurt him if given the chance. As a result, the only people he trusts are those closest to him.
◊ INTELLIGENT Eric is highly intelligent, figuring out how to do things quickly. He also has a knack for getting creative, especially when he's telling stories. Once given a problem, he'll quickly come to a solution that works.

CHILDHOOD Eric Is the only son of Thomas and Janette Holmes. His first years of his life were good, having a loving home and family that took great care of him and made sure he was happy and cared for. He wasn't awre of anything wrong, just that he was perfectly happy.
However, he wasn't as safe as he thought he was. Dean and Jillian Ramsey had both taken an interest in him, and often stalked him as he went out with his parents. His sixth birthday was normal, but sadly that was the last bit of normalcy that Eric would enjoy for years. Soon after his birthday, Dean and Jillian broke into their house and murdered Thomas and Janette before kidnapping Eric. He was thrown into the back of their trunk after being hogtied and gagged, and the last bit of the outside world he saw was as the trunk closed on him.
Afterward, he was brought into the Ramsey home and taken downstairs where he met the reason for his kidnapping. Apparently they had decided to give their son a friend for his birthday, and Eric was it. Eric raged against the idea, screaming and pleading to be let go, but his kidnappers never listened. Brian, their son, tried to befriend him at first, but Eric ignored him. However, after several punishments, Eric gave up the idea of escaping and settled into a new 'normal'.
He never saw much of his kidnappers, but the basement that Brian and Eric inhabited became their entire world for the next three years. Because of the enforced isolation from anyone but Brian, Eric found himself becoming close friends with Brian, often helping Brian with his make-believe places while Eric told him as much about the outside world as he knew. However, he was prone to backtalk and not listening to his captors, causing Dean and Jillian to punish him regularly.
Around the time that Brian turned nine, however, that all changed. Jillian had come down to ask about bringing in someone new. Eric, knowing just what she meant by that, started arguing and screaming at her. That's when she decided to beat him, breaking Eric's arm in the process. However, a bright flash of light lit up the basement, and when Eric opened his eyes, he saw Jillian dead and a shocked Brian.
Taking the opportunity, Eric made a drastic choice. He took Brian and ran, going to the one place his parents had always told him if he ever was in trouble. The police at first were shocked by their appearance, but after Eric told them what happened, they immediately got him treatment for his injuries and both boys were sent to child services. After a bit, they transferred Brian and Eric to Wool's since it was discovered they were both magical, though Eric has a hard time believing that one.
