Post Con Debrief

I'm so glad we've got people joining the guild. I'm excited to start work on beautifying it, but while we wait for that- how are we all doing post-con? What did we get into during con, etc etc? I want to hear all about it!

Personally, this con was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I had some rough patches, but it was my first con having a truly huge friend group to pal around with. I feel like I was always with someone this year! I got to run two panels and both went very well, did two group photoshoots with friends, spent WAY too much in Artist Alley, and lots of ribbon game. I went to a concert in Maryland last night as well (drove there and back in the same day) so I am thoroughly exhausted and enjoying my rest today.

It was so cool to get to speak with Lanzer and have our little nostalgic moment together at the meet up. It's heart warming to see so many people who feel the same way about Gaia that I do! I hope we can give you all a space here to check in throughout the year and escape from adulthood and responsibility for a while.

I’m also so happy to see people joining the Guild! Gaia was SO important to me throughout middle school and into high school before I eventually stopped logging in regularly. I actually logged in about a year ago just to send a few messages to people I used to talk with all the time back in the 2006–2009 era, just to let them know I was thinking about them. Other than that, I really hadn’t logged in since around 2010 or 2011. It looks like a lot of the old Guilds I was in either removed me (which is totally fair after so many years of inactivity) or somehow disappeared into the void. I also went through and purged a bunch of my old forum posts because of...reasons. cat_sweatdrop I left some of my old Art and RP ones for nostalgia sake, though. But it feels so good to be back! I’m still devastated that I got rid of so many of my items before I originally quit Gaia, but I WILL get them back somehow!!!

Onto the Post-Con Debrief

I had such a great time at Tekko this year! My biggest highlights were the Gaia panel and the Naruto meetup. I didn’t start attending conventions until 2022, when I was in my late 20s, so going to the Naruto meetup honestly healed something for my younger self and let me finally experience a little piece of the childhood nostalgia.

One of the best parts, as always, was getting to see friends I mostly only get to hang out with at conventions. There’s never enough time to catch up with everyone! I also spent way too much money in Artist Alley, even though the one item I had my heart set on had already sold out by the time I made it there on Saturday. crying Even with that disappointment, Tekko was an amazing con as always. This year felt especially special, and I think it’s because I had so many wonderful people to share the experience with. I also collected WAY more ribbons this year than I ever have at a convention before!

IIt was also so cool getting to talk with Lanzer and ask a few questions. I was so happy to hear that he’d love to bring Gaia Cinemas back! It used to be one of my fave things to do on Gaia. Seeing how many people came to the panel was really amazing, too. It made me so happy to see so many people who still care about Gaia so much.

As Kira mentioned, we’re hoping to create a space where everyone can check in throughout the year and just hang out together. Once I’ve rebuilt my Plat and item collection, I’d also love to host some avatar cosplay contests!

I’d love to hear about any conventions you’re planning to attend, or anything else fun you’ve been up to! And if you have suggestions for forums or activities you’d like to see in the Guild, please let me know. I was a member of plenty of Guilds back in the day, but this will be my first time running one, and I’m really excited but also so nervous! emotion_bigheart
