Well, Im not atheist, its just that sometimes I wonder why people take this time of the year to become nice people, and as soon as its over its like if they had never seen you. Sometimes it doesnt make sense to me, like why just being a nice guy at the end of the year? To get more gifts? Or to make people think that you are really concerned about the meaning of this holydays?
I do enjoy the time when my family get together but, just as I said before, its just a once-a-year thing. Except when someones dies it the only time aside from xmas that my family gets so close. Maybe that the reason that I dont see a lot of meaning in these parties or in the way people celebrate them. But as always, thats only my opinion.
But on the other hand, I can not say that I do not like it at all. It is clear that as the years pass I have been realizing that there are people missing, people very important that I cant forget, and that they will not come back by Christmas. People who in his day was important in my life and now are gone. And that means too much when the family meets, and although the absences were not named, they are implicit in the minds of each, and only requires that someone takes the first step for passing bad Christmas remembering and crying. That is one reason to "hate" Christmas, but there's more: One realizes that everything, absolutely everything is a lie. Everything is to sell more, the prices are higher, a lot take advantage of the situation (and one need only see that on the day on January 7, when they have already been purchased and donated all gifts, discounts start). And criticize all this, but either we buy gifts. It is at this time when we are encouraged to be in solidarity with the poor, the homeless, and all that, for one situation or another, they lack requirements. During the rest of the year, few remember them. In December charity events are made, sending gifts to the third world ... but this need not just at Christmas. They also need that the rest of the year, 365 days. But nobody remembers them at that time.

Wow! I'm so glad you decided to put this in your journal. You did an amazing job at articulating your thoughts. Also, I agree. So much of the meaning of Christmas has been stripped away in favor of commercialism. It's sad, really. But, I find hope in knowing that I'm not the only one that feels this way. Thank you for writing.
