Today is the day of Barack Obama’s inauguration as President of the United States. I really cannot wait. I am convinced that Obama is just the change we need. But god, does that man have one hell of a fix-it job ahead of him. That is why I thought up this song:
“Barack the Builder, Can he fix it? Barack the Builder, Yes we can!”
Good stuff, yes? Today is going to be a very big day. Ashli’s long-awaited Saw V is coming to DVD, and we plan to get that. In addition, another thing that comes to DVD as well is Repo! The Genetic Opera. It is my current obsession. So of course, I have pre-ordered it. However, apparently it was shipped a couple of days ago. Therefore, I am REALLY hoping it comes today. I really hope the inauguration is before Ashli goes to work. I may have to watch it without her, or she will have to watch it without me if it’s before I’m out of school. Apparently, Barack Obama will be sworn in on the exact same bible that Abraham Lincoln was sworn in on, that is what I heard anyway. And it is so funny because the men are both so similar in my eyes. They both came to a divided nation with an awesomely big job ahead of them, and both have overcome adversity in order to get into the position they’re in, and last but not least, they’re both amazingly tall. I just hope it does not wear on Obama like it did Lincoln. Poor guy, he had to endure the death of his young son and his wife’s insanity all in one term; Not to mention the Civil War. That is no piece of cake. Then when Lincoln was elected to a second term, he is shot. But the latter will be no issue for Barack, no way. Precautions are being made. In fact, he’s sure to be one of the most protected presidents in history. There have already been a couple of threats made on his life, which were brushed off as a minor incident, I’m sure.
I look forward, though, to rooting Obama on in his Presidency.
