Aimi approached a small restaurant and headed inside looking person to person a bit timidly. As she glanced across each face a boy about her age caught her glance and they shared a small, blissful moment before he rose to his feet. Swiftly he moved to her side and reached his hand out to take hers.
"Hello. I'm Zeke, and you must be Allie. I must say that while you are absolutely gorgeous; you don't exactly look like your profile picture." As if he didn't even miss a beat he leaned down and kissed her hand. This action elicited a wide array of feelings within Aimi that she quickly pushed away to concoct a response.
"You know what they say about profile pictures. They're never honestly accurate. I didn't expect you to be so handsome though." In an effort to really convince him she was the so called Allie that he was waiting for, Aimi winked at Zeke and softly touched his arm for a moment. The two of them took a seat at the table he was sitting at before the waiter showed up and took their appetizer order.
The night started off slowly as Aimi told about her made up life that somehow seemed just so believable. Zeke's phone was going crazy vibrating, but he was so wrapped up in conversation with the woman he was convinced was perfect. He couldn't have picked a better woman for himself.
Finally the last items had arrived and they were down to their last glasses of wine and a dessert to split. Zeke smiled as he took a bite of the fresh cheesecake on the table. "Allie, I have had a blast with you tonight. I've never been one for online dating, but I'm so glad I chose to try once more. Hopefully you've had at least half as much fun yourself." He blushed and wiped his mouth with his napkin in an attempt to hide the embarrassment.
By that point Aimi had finished her part of the cheesecake and nodded slightly. "Actually, I've had so much fun talking and laughing with you. I never seem to connect with anyone like this. It's a shame it has to end."
"It doesn't have to end though. We could-"
"I suggest you drop that sentence where it is now and let go. I had so much fun, but I'm a lady. I'm not going home with you after a first date. I have to go though. So call me and let's talk later." She rose from her seat and moved to his side of the table. Aimi leaned down and kissed his left cheek before taking a step back. "See you around, Z." Before Zeke could react his perfect woman was gone, and all that was left was the check.
"Fifty-two dollars? Yikes. She's quite an expensive lady, but I have to say she's worth it." Zeke took care of the check then headed out to his car. "Z. Hey, Z. What's up, Z? Wow. It's never sounded so good before." He took a moment before starting his car to check his phone. There were two missed calls, and one voicemail. The confusing part was they were from Allie. "She couldn't have called.... what?"
Zeke listened to the voicemail with a bit of nerves wondering what was going on for her to have called while they were having dinner together something wasn't right here. "Hey, Zeke, I'm not going to be able to make it to dinner tonight. I'm so sorry about it, but my father is having some issues and I'm going to be up here at the hospital tonight. You're welcome to call me anytime you want and we can talk tonight. I won't keep this long; I just wanted you to know. Have a good night. Ciao!"
