Cirque DU Soliel:
Corteo is amazing!! I just went to see it last night in DC with my friend Katie and her BF. It was so beautiful and the musical score was out of this world! There was a tight rope act this time, like in La Nouba, but they didn't play with fire. Actually this preformance was mostly comedy with the acts scattered in between. Makes some amount of sense since the main charecter is a clown. The clothing was such a blend of cultures. Some dresses looked like American swing, some very Versailes French, some salsa Spanish, and of course early 1900's England. The angel's were beautiful and we were obsessing over the wings. (We still have a crush on Icarus from Varekai).
The stage was completely new though. Normally the stage faces a 90 degree audience, but this time the stage was a circle in the center of the tent and the audience wrapped 360 degrees around it, so the preformers had to make sure they could be seen from all angles.
The clothing wasn't as bright as many of the other productions, but the storyline was about the death of a man and his journey into Heaven. The clothing was glittery but subdued. It was perfect!
