Okay, here's how it is.
The mods have this wheel-thingy. Kinda like on Wheel of Fortune. Except instead of monetary values or awesome prizes, it has the name of every Gaia user ever. Now, they spin this wheel, and whoever it lands on, that's who they're gonna ban. You with me so far? Good. Okay, so they go to the memberlist, and look the user up, so they can find their avatar. And then they take this life-size wax replica of either David Hasselhoff or Claudia Schiffer (depending on whether it's a male or female avatar) and dress it up like the avatar of the user they're going to ban. Then the mods and admins gather in three circles - purple mods on the outside, admins on the inside, and green mods between them. Then the purple mods & the admins walk one way around the statue while the green mods walk the other way. All the while, the admins chant "Ban! Ban!" and the mods have to sing Ricky Martin's "Livin' La Vida Loca" seven times. Once this is done, they all stick their thumbs in their ears and blink really fast for about six minutes. And then the user is banned.
Of course, if the user changes their avatar while this is going on, or one of the mods sings off-key, they have to start all over.
edit: This information is outdated due to the new mod-level system. Currently investigating new process
