The Avengers (Marvel) is the contemporary to The Justice League (DC). Green Lanterns are DC comics, so they are part of the Justice League. Captain America is marketed as 'The First Avenger' so I assume he started the group, but I don't track Marvel very well. Spiderman, Iron Man, Hulk, and X-Men are all Marvel, no idea which ones are in the Avengers. Superman, Batman, Cat Woman, and Green Lantern are part of the Justice League.

There are dozens more on each side that I don't know.

Green Lantern was very underwhelming. Flat characters, no development, predictable plot, and total ruins of the original Green Lanter stories.

He was well off, which helped him be successful quickly, but look at Catwoman, she was originally a prostitue, just trying to escape her pimp, and became a legendary super hero.
