• We both sat on the green grass just near the Okefenokee Swamp, just staring into each other’s eyes. His silk, black, straight hair danced in the wind of the winter night. He had a heavy black jacket on and gray sweatpants. His tan skin seemed to glow in the light of the moon. He gave me that beautiful smile of his… the one that dazzled every girl in Southernland High. He took my hand in his in a slow gentle process.
“Delia,” he said in a melodic voice, “I really like you, I truly do. I never thought we would be alone together like this, but we are. Lets make the most of this time.”
Huge butterflies filled my stomach. He liked me, just as I liked him. His name was Max. He was the most popular guy at my high school, the kind that all the girls flirt with and has a ton of friends. We never laid eyes on each other, not until this chance encounter near the Okefenokee Swamp. We both had to do research on life in the swamp, we just happened to pick the same day to do the research.
“Max,” I said to him, “do you think we will be together after this day again?” Max did a beautiful light laugh.
“We’ll see what we can do Delia,” he promised. Max then took my shoulders and moved his head towards mine. I was prepared for the kiss, and it was the best kiss ever. It just shows that it doesn't matter how popular you are, but it shows you can just fall in love with anyone in the world.
