• Emi was on the phone with her mother, talking about her wedding the next afternoon. "Mommy, it's tomorrow! You still haven't gotten that done? I want Shido to be happy- no that is not a possibility! Shido loves me, not all my money- Uhg! Just shut up, mom. He's here. Bye." Emi hung up the phone and looked up to see her fiancée. He looked different, almost like a monster. "Honey, are you alri-" Emi was cut off as Shido placed a hand over her mouth. He smiled evilly and bit into her neck. Emi's screams were muffled by his hand as she hit him in the head repeatedly. He backed off for a moment. Emi realized what her fiancée was and ran toward him with a pencil. Shido hissed and jumped out of a window. Emi was in too much pain to think about it. She fell onto the floor and passed out.

    Ten years later...

Emi lifted her head up and licked the blood off of her lips as she looked at her new companinon. After writhing and screaming for a few days, he was now a fledgeling. He opened his eyes slowly. "W-who are you? What do you want?" He asked, baring his newly discovered fangs. Emi chuckled and patted his shoulder. "You are now a vampire. I chose you because I knew you would be special. You and a few others will help me get revenge on my ex-fiancee." She said. The fledgeling was shocked at how quickly she had told him this. "And my name is Emi. Occasionally, Shido will send a small group of newborns to destroy me. Usually I pick them off easily, but recently they have gotten tougher and more intelligent. I cannot survive alone or live in fear, so I want to finish him off once and for all. I will train you and a few other vampires to fight so that that is possible. And I never got your name." She said, tilting her head to the side. "Er, Hayashi..." The fledgeling said hesitantly. "You must be thirsty... Come." Emi said as she walked out of the clearing they were in, gesturing for him to follow. She led him to a part of the forest that had a few deer. "We will hunt humans later, when you get the hang of it." She said. Then she pounced onto a buck, dispatching it with one blow. After she drained it, she turned to Hayashi. "Now you try." She said, licking the blood off of her lips and hiding her fangs. He did the same thing Emi did, not nearly as graceful, though. "Not bad. You need a little work, but really not bad." Emi said walking up to him. They ran back to the clearing. "Get some sleep. We will leave here tomorrow. You might as well get used to the nomadic way of life." She yawned, lying down and falling asleep. Hayashi thought about running, but then asked himself, Did he want to?
