The bell rang for the end of class. Last period of the day, last day of school. I have Phys. Ed. I walk in late, just after the bell. Mrs. Honeyside glares at me.
"20 push-ups Angel; now if i could have everyone's attention..." she continues. I zone out, PE was always my favorite subject. Even though punishment is harsh. I zone back in just as Mrs. Honeyside calls my name.
"ANGEL!!!! You have a visitor in the office. He would like to see you straight away."
I blinked rapidly, I had no friends, or family really, who could it be? I started slowly gliding across the hall, when I realized who it could be. I was nearly too late; just as the office door was opening, I fled down the hall, glancing over my shoulder every once in a while to be sure they wouldn't follow; but i was wrong. I only heard them come to the intersection ahead of me, and screeched to a halt. They were already blocking nearly all my means to escape, but to their dismay, i opened a window, jumping out of the upstairs level of the school.
I knew what I was doing; I ripped off my sweater; exposing my beautiful white wings, and soared into the clouds. I caught the thermals and spiralled up, until i reached 300 feet. I flew silently over the football field where my old classmates were doing laps. In a way, I felt sorry for them, stuck on the ground, not knowing what wonders were around them. All they worried about was whether or not they had the latest style, not about running for their lives like I am. As I came to the park on the edge of town, i slowed. Landing lightly on the oak beneath me.
That wasn't the only thing underneath me. I looked under the tree, there was a couple there. Holding hands, and smiling at each other like they were the only things in the world. In a way, i was jelous. They had something together i could never have. I looked away, wishing i could be as happy as they were at that moment.
By the time the sky was pink, I opened my wings, and took flight again. I wiped the tears from my face, it was time to move on. There was only so much time before they came for me. Sorry, I guess I have a little explaining to do.
'They' are the government. Well, not quite. They are a type of government that wouldn't stop at anything to capture me. You see, I was born in a test tube. They mixed 10% avian DNA into me, and it realligned my course. I was not supposed to be an "Angel" in disguise. I was, at one point, supposed to be a human. Just like you, but noooo. They had to make me a freak. A winged, hollow boned human.
But back to reality. I only have one person i can trust. and before he knew it, I was on his windowsill, tapping the window. He just stared at me, open mouthed. You see, he never saw me fly before, so i guess theres a first time for everything.
"Hurry up Stark! Open the window! Its cold out here!!" I screeched. He finally got what i was saying and opened the window, ushering me in. Stark isn't like most people, he's got everything any girl would want. Amazing hair that i could imagine running my fingers through.. don''t you DARE tell him I said that!, and awesome blue eyes. I blushed slightly.
"Hey Stark, can i borrow a sweater... its kind of cold outside..."
"S-sure!" he stammered, coming out of his stupor. ~ Stark zoomed out of the room like a demon was chasing him, almost forgetting to close the door as he left. I sighed. Sometimes i forget how shy he is. He only really gets like this when we're talking about my wings, or supernatural beings.
Not that we don't talk about that stuff, he just gets all twitchy when its a part of the conversation. I only have a teensy-weensy idea of why. I'm not sure if my theory is quite correct though; 'cause you see, he's been moving around nearly as much as I am. The thing i don't know, is why sometimes when hes in one of his "in my own world" mood, he blurts out random "STOP!"s and "Why me?"s. I try to ask him questions sometimes, but he just snaps out of it.
Today was different though. I've never been in his room alone before. I look around me, everything seems normal. No real signs of something odd going on. That's what I thought, at least until i saw something out of the corner of my eye that didn't seem right. It was a small black container, with, what I thought was a red health cross. I get up to go look at it, and Stark comes bolting into the room like he couldn't wait another moment to be with me, which I rather enjoyed the thought of.. DON'T TELL HIM I SAID THAT EITHER... I looked away from the object. Stark paled slightly, realizing what I was looking at.
"Fine. I guess there's no point in hiding it now." he muttered, taking the mysterious black container onto his palm.
"What is it?" I asked suspiciously. We told each other nearly everything. I guess you saw the "nearly" in that statement, that was on my behalf. He doesn't exactly know I like him, or at least, I think. He hasn't really hinted anything towards that precinct.
"These," he started, "are blood pills." I nearly missed what he said, but he whispered it just loud enough so I could hear. I sat down, realizing what he was telling me, but not quite taking it in, instead, I reached out my hand to touch him, just to be sure he was real.
"I figured you would have a more frightened expression," he laughed, leaning back.
"I'm not really frightened that easily, Stark. Considering what I've been through." I replied thoughtfully, replacing my hand with my head, placing it softly on his muscular shoulder.
"Don't do that!" he squeaked, paling.
"Do what?" I asked innocently.
"Bare your neck like that! It's dangerous around here! Especially when I'm thirsty." he exclaimed, putting the sweater cautiously over my shoulders, and backing away slowly.....
