Mark and Mary were on the way home from a visit to Mary's Sister. When their car broke down, they decided to go and ask for help at the farmhouse. It was dark and foggy outside. Mary and Allen looked at the Farmhouse which looked empty, except for a light burning in the first floor. They knocked on the door, which opened, being unlocked. Upon entering the farmhouse they were greeted by a cold air front, which made the hairs on their necks stand up. The power seemed to be out, because the lights were not working.
They looked around in the House until they found the stairs to the second floor. They slowly climbed the stairs, which creaked with each step. They knocked on the door where the light was coming out of. They heard footsteps go to the door but nothing happened.
Suddenly without warning the door opened with a loud squeak, making them both jump. The only source of light was from a lone candle standing in the middle of the room. What gave them chills was the fact that there was a doll the size of a 9 year old girl with long black hair sitting in front of the candle. Mary looked at her Husband and gave him a small nudge. Something told them that they were not supposed to be here.
Mary screamed as the doll's head turned 180 Degrees and it looked at them with strange eyes. Allen noticed they were not the eyes of a doll, instead they were the eyes of a human, bright green. The doll just looked at them. Then it opened its mouth and said in an almost whispering tone; '' Only the dead walk these halls, only the dead see the living, only the dead are home.''
Mary could not take it and ran out screaming at the top of her lungs. Allen followed her and made her stop, trying to comfort her. It was probably a hallucination anyway.
They walked out of the house in a rather fast pace. They walked back to their car, to their surprise the car was gone.
''I must have forgotten to put the brake on. Sorry...',' Allen said to his wife. They began to walk down the street they had driven through to get here. With each step they felt a little safer.
After about an hour they got tired and sat down to take a break. Mary poked Allen in the side with a small wimper and pointed behind him. He turned around and looked in shock at the Farmhouse they had left an hour ago which was standing at the exact same distance as they had left it. Mary lost it and ran as fast as she could. Allen followed close behind her, but no matter how far they ran, they always ended back at the house.
The doll girl was now standing at the window with a wide creepy grin on her face. She opened the window and called out,
'' Those who no longer live walk these halls, those who are dead, live in these rooms, those who passed on will be here forever.''
The grin seamed to go from ear to ear. Suddenly a realization hit the couple. They walked to the area where their car had broken down. The fog cleared revealing a cliff. Down below with lights still blinking, their car lay upside down and crushed. They held onto each others hands and walked to the house where hundreds of ghosts also waited to welcome their Kin.
The doll, now that they knew the truth, had changed her face from insane, to Sad. Tears were pouring down her eyes as she said.
'' Forever bound by the curse of house number thirteen... never allowed to leave... I’m so sorry....''
With the last word she collapsed on the floor like a marionette whose strings were cut. After a forest fire the only area that remained unscathed was a small farmhouse near a cliff where the sounds of wailing could be heard...

- That´s a really good story, I have to confess. You are really talented in writing. But in the second line you did a mistake. I was really confused when I wrote throught the story because I thought the name of the man was Mark and not Allen.
