Once upon a winters eve
A child is born, a daughter of Eve
A mother of love, and tender care
A father who’s really never there
Her life is sheltered so you see
She carries around her little ducky
Her life she lives like nothings wrong
Although she’s known it all along
She never fits in, but longs to belong
The life she knew when she was born
The time, for her mother, she mourned
The time, she saw, her mother scorned
The life she knew all those years ago
The fireplace lit and softly aglow
For safety and warmth, the family cuddled
While the rain drops dripped into their puddles
They would just sit and huddle
Illuminating moon on snow
Then in the city she was found
Lying there on the cold ground
Like a memory torn and bleeding
Signs of her father oh so fleeting
Broken bones, cuts, and bruises
She’s out there while he just snoozes
But wait, no here’s a correction
What happened to her so called ‘protection’
Tired from all the fights she’s foughten
Here she lies, long forgotten
