Right now: at home, was out for a few days. Sitting on the floor of my room in my parents' basement, trimming video footage to fit within youtube's 10 minute max guidelines. Footage that should have been up before now, but is going to be up now... once its done exporting and I sit and upload each file to youtube - shame they don't have a bulk upload tool for me to just dump files to upload, fall asleep, give them all names / descriptions / tags in the morning really quick.
Anyway.
Will be at Comic Con - get into San Diego late Tuesday of next week. In San Diego with friends, for their wedding Aug 5th.
Fly back to Barrie, have less than a week to pack - fly to UK for two days, then to Latvia for 2.5ish weeks. Back to UK for two days en route back to Barrie on September 1st, semester starts three days later.
Trying to work out applying for Ontario Works (welfare) / ODSP (disability assistance), in order to be independent of my parents and living on my own. Reached breaking point several times over in terms of dealing with them, and after living on my own really have a hard time dealing with being forced to deal with them on a daily basis living in their home.
Also trying to work out appealing suspension from college: had to withdraw from semester due to medical reasons, academic suspension for 8 months due to resulting not-pass grade. Waiting on doctor's letter to arrive to finalize appeal - dean of program is sure there will not be any problems, just need the letter to have it over and done with.
Trying to cram in
- crash-learning Latvian
- trying to think of what camera(s) I'm bringing to Latvia
- imagining shooting possibilities when I'm in Latvia
- half-thoughts of a few short film projects I want to shoot when I'm there, but not sure if I will be able to in terms of my family letting me have time to myself, at all...
- trying to think of what I'm wearing at Comic Con
- trying to think of meaningful wedding presents for friends
- as well as thinking of a wedding present for my cousins in Latvia (apparently, I'm shooting wedding the day after we get to Latvia - talk about crash-immersion in stuff, but I think that's probably the best way to integrate myself / enjoy the trip as much as I can, rather than being a tacky tourist fumbling in a foreign language and environment)
- throw in breaking up with the hobo a month ago / dealing with emotional fallout of him missing me / having to do the "here is your stuff" exchange last weekend, or the weekend before - I'm bad with time
- issues with software installation discs gone missing (bloody Sony proprietary software for the HDR-SR1, *shakes fist*)
- lovely interludes of spending time with friends who nourish my soul
- and parents who want to know every single last detail of every moment of my life.
I'm happier than I've been in a long time, because I'm figuring out how I'm going to change my life, and what I want with my life. I'm a bit more frazzled, but not quite as much as I was during the last semester - and this is more of a good-frazzled, in that I'm figuring stuff out, finally.
I wish I had more time in general to be online: I miss spending time with everyone. I really miss the community on Gaia, and I really, really miss the community on deviantART. At some point in the future, hopefully I will be able to catch up with everyone in the depth I would like to.
