There was just something about her. Some glow that drew me in. Looking back now I think that is how it was meant to be. Things would not have worked out any other way. It was not the easiest path, but it was the most straightforward. In a way, I feel as though I am forced to respect them all for it. It was hardest on me, and they didn't care. Azriel has been like that for as long as I have known him. Quinn was always kind of a jackass. Nate, well.. As long as no one complains, he keeps his mouth shut and does what he is told to.
Me? I just keep my mouth shut. The best way to deal with people, human or not, is to just keep quiet. They respect that. And it brings them in, so you can learn things. If you do not speak, you listen. That is how things work.
If they think you have no way to use it against them, they tell you things. Secrets. I am the universe's confidant. Nearly omnipotent.
See, what they never knew was that I knew. I was there all the time. Like Quinn hears and Nate sees, I know. That is what I do. I know Heaven and Hell. Gabriel and Morningstar. And the big man, sitting up there watching. The cosmic voyeur.
But I guess I should not judge by that. I watch too, in a way.
