Later that evening, Eddie sat in the passenger's seat of an old red truck. He was still covered in bandaids and wasn't wearing a shirt, but he had the long scarf wrapped loosely around his neck a few times. "Thanks for helping me out with this, Paulie," he said to the driver.

"Oh, no prob, Ed. This Bucho guy sounds like he might know something if he's going to toss you around like that. You mind if I tag along?" Paulie cracked his knuckles on the steering wheel.

Eddie rolled a dark, cylindrical object around in his fingers. "He's a big guy. I know you might be mad, but let me deal with him. I'd rather you not get hurt."

The vehicle was silent for the rest of the ride. When they came to a stop, Paulie glanced over at whatever it was that Eddie was fiddling with. It was in shadow, so he couldn't quite make out what it was. "What's that you've got?"

"Persuasion." Eddie palmed the item, not wanting his adoptive father to see, and hoping he hadn't already.

"So you're going to make him talk?"

"Something like that." Eddie paused, "You're not going to want to see what I have in mind."

They sat in silence again before Paulie spoke up. "Alright." He opened his door saying, "I'll find out Bucho's cabin number." before giving the door a good solid slam behind.

Eddie sat in the dark, listening to every little noise that came his way through the rolled down window. He could hear Paulie walking away from the vehicle, toward the sound of water lapping about. A new sound of something scurrying toward the truck met his ears. Before he could wonder what it might be, something leapt through the window and landed on his lap. It was soft, fuzzy, and oddly cold. Eddie reacted immediately by grabbing a hold of this critter to figure it out by touch. "You here to munch on my brains, little grunny?"

The grunny began to purr in its odd way. "That's... different." A few flashes of hundreds of grunnies ran through Eddie's mind. "So was that."

Paulie opened the truck door again, spooking the grunny. It hopped back out the window before he could see it. "I got the number. Cabin 304."

"Thanks, Paulie. If you can get me onboard, I'll take it from there."

"You sure, Ed? It's a big boat."

"Yeah. I think I can manage that much." He opened his door.
