Brought up human, he learned very little of the nymphs. Until the age of 10 he was a normal kid,his appearance was human. But his elemental powers started to show at several occasions at the age of 12. You could hardly call it powers then.
Making flowers blossom and fruits grow, it was the earth element he possesed. Obsessed by his remarkable gifts he started to use them more and slowly develop them. He controlled ( in this case meaning no more unwanted use of ) his powers at 14. Meaning no harm he merely used his powers to help close friends, he'd rather keep it secret to the outside world. His school career finished succesfully, he had more free time to work on his gift.
