I need to forget
What it is I've seen
I need to wake up
And break from this dream
I know what haunts my mind
I've seen it with my eyes:
It's a demon of tricks and lies.

Don't say the wrong things
At exactly the right times
That only makes the demon grow
Filling with more riddles and rhymes

Don't curse the monster
That wishes to destroy me
Because every human has one
It's part of our sinful being

I need to vanish
To save you from my demons
It's him I need to banish
Because he strikes without warning or reasons

I've seen his face many a time
I've felt cold eyes upon me,
Sinking into mine
The demon plays tricks
The demon sets lies
Don't say you don't know this
For I can see it in your eyes:
You have an inner demon as well
One sent directly from Hell
To play on you tricks and lies
Don't contradict me,
This is a truth no human denies

Sin rages through
Every human vein of blue
Because we cannot be perfect
So neither can you

But there are those who fight it
Who grow stronger in Christ each day
And whether or not you choose to
This fighting is my way,
And what I must do

I will not let this demon of tricks and lies control me.
