Well, I should have posted this two days ago when I actually made it. But yesterday was the Day of Silence at my school, and so, here it is.
This Silence is a Shield. You might not understand it. But it’s something we need to wield. For some of us, to stay alive. To keep from being a freak, an outcast, a sinner.
This Silence is a Barrier. It keeps us from talking to them. Those who would never understand. Our pain, our sufferings, our hurt.
This Silence is a Lie. The people surrounding us don’t know. Our family, our friends. Brothers, sisters, schoolmates teachers.
This Silence is Truth. A truth of the world surrounding us. How we must live to make it through the day. Could you stay silent, just watching the mute?
This Silence is Real. No, it’s not fair. No, it’s not kind. It’s stifling, crippling.
This Silence is Love. The love for another. A brother, a mother, a father, a daughter. Who might not ever know.
This Silence is Hatred. Full of Violence. Full of Anger. Full of Lies.
My Silence is My Weapon. The silence isn’t fair. The mute are no less human. Feelings, lives, lovers, friends. If you don’t have to remain silent, then all the better for you. But would you remain silent too? Knowing people have died for this, Seeing all their hurt, Could you really stay silent? I choose to remain silent, not because I am guilty of wrongs, but for a better future, a better life.
