Chapter 1
Meeting of Chance
“So…Ovan, what exactly is your interest with this Haseo kid?” I questioned.
“I have a plan, but for it to work we need him…” Explained the man with a mechanical capsule over his arm,
“Fine, I’ll go see what I can dig up in Mac Anu.” I said walking to the chaos gate.
“Don’t confront him, don’t even speak to him.” Warned the blue-haired old man,
“You won’t even know I’m there.” I replied reassuringly.
As I transported through the chaos gate I thought of how I could stay hidden. When the transfer was complete I headed over to a shop and pretended to be buying something.
“Hey, kid!” Called a strange looking man and woman. “Are you new to ‘The World’?” One of them asked.
“Yeah, as a matter-of-fact I just logged on for the first time.” The target replied.
“Mind if we show you around?” Asked the strange man.
“Not at all, it would really help thanks.” The target said in a childish voice.
Haseo invited the two strangers into his party and set out for an area at the chaos gate. “s**t…I’d better follow them.” I said to myself walking over to the gate and reusing the area word’s the kid had put in. “Well, here I am. Where did they go, probably to the beast temple, they should still be looking for the keys, I’ll wait behind the temple for them to open the door.” I told myself.
As I walked through the area, across bridges, over little areas of land I noticed a PK try to sneak up on me. “Are you new to the game?” Asked the strange looking PK.
“Yes, actually, this is my first time ever playing ‘The World’, could you show me around?” I said in a strategic way.
“Sure thing kid…” He said suspiciously, holding up a katana-like sword.
A barrier formed around the two to prevent interference from creatures or other players. “That’s what I was hoping you’d do.” I said, pulling out a large, single bladed sword, almost twice the size and nearly triple the weight of the katana. I slashed once, but he parried the slash and counter attacked with a spell. I was slowed but still attempted to swing the sword, I was hit by his blade but quickly retaliated. The slow finally wore off and I slashed at the PK until the Rengeki move was usable, “Bone Crusher!” I yelled as I finished my enemy. “Uh-oh, that kid should almost be finished with finding the symbol fragments, I’d better pick up the pace.” I said as the barrier disappeared and boarded my steam bike.
When I finally caught up to Haseo, Ovan had already taken care of the obvious PK’s and was explaining ‘The World’ to him. “You see, Haseo, I’ve started a little… guild, let’s say, the Twilight Brigade, and I would be honored to have you join.”
“Why do you want me in your guild in the first place?” Asked the boy in suspicion,
“I sense something special about your character and wish for you to become stronger.” The older looking man explained.
“Uh… Okay, I guess I’ll join.” The boy stuttered.
“Hey, Ovan!” I called, approaching the two.
“What is it Keldorix?” He asked as Haseo left for the chaos gate leading to Mac Anu.
“Do you really think that boy is the key to finding the key to the twilight?” I asked him.
“Where there’s will…right?” He said walking away from me.
“I guess you’re right, Ovan…what’s your game, what are you planning?” I asked myself as I slowly made my way to the chaos gate, “Oh well, I guess I’ll just log out and check my email.”
