The Door
The single door that keeps us in must never be unbarred
Understand that I keep you here to see you are unharmed
In our private world we can never breach the peace
What you don’t understand is that this cage is our release
This structure is what we’re built around, and to let you ruin it would be disgrace
Must I shut you up, or will you stay quietly, this is something we can’t replace
The bars will keep out the darkness; in here, only I can you embrace
I won’t let you tear it down; I’ve worked so hard to keep it here
This cage is what keeps us safe I won’t let it disappear
I left you unrestricted to wander about this room
But my trust has been forsaken; now it will be your tomb
