now you may have noticed that there are SEVERAL ways to say i love you in japanese. i will list them eh now.
aishite imas 愛しています
Aishiteru 愛してる
aishiteru yo 愛してるよ
aishiteru wa((females)) 愛してるわ
More commonly used is I like
suki desu 好きです
Suki da 好きだ
suki dayo((male)) 好きだよ
suki yo((female)) 好きよ
daisuki desu 大好きです
Now of course to write the word love is completely different story.
there are three common ways, Kokoro 心((heart)) , Ai ((we all know this kanji my god 愛and about half of us went months missing the middle part and writing uke on ourselves instead... well i did.)) , and Koi 恋.
